Those little spider things are servo skulls. They are indeed floating skulls with mandable arms that are indeed controlled by a lobotomized human brain.

and sometimes the brain wipe doesnt take and they silently scream the whole time :)

@sisuphos, those aren't human babies their vat grown and modified

They aren't exactly lobotomized as unlike servitors they are made from loyal servants and not from criminals or people who have failed their duties. The process just works differently for every person and is a dice roll for how much of their personality and brain function stays intact.

Servo skulls don't contain a human brain. The skulls are often from heroes of the imperium and it is seen as quite an honor to have your skull utilized in this manner. They have a rudimentary machine spirit and anti gravity engine but no human brain.

Most imperial technology requires a direct interface with their devices, along the individual to essentially feel whatever the machine feels or sees whatever the machine feels, as for the second skin part, yes, it’s an outer layer made up of micro bundles and power cables, allowing the wearer to have twice the normal amount of strength despite already being incredibly strong, however the suit also allows the wearer to interact with the suit such as things like monster their vitals, move without actually moving their own body, complete control over their armor, take a digger for example where you use a joystick and controller, instead imagine being the digger itself and being able to control every single movement by yourself. Here an example Take a mouse and keyboard as an example You move the mouse, the machine registers and them complies, you click on the mouse to shoots and the machine fires. Vs you move and then shoot and whilst the that’s happening the machine is copying your every movement

This was originally released as an official Games Workshop animation on their channel WarhammerTV. The undersuit hooks up to the black carapace and allows their power armor to synch up with their nervous system. An astartes without their power armor is a murder truck, with their power armor is a murder train, and in terminator armor is a murder tank. The floating skulls with tendrils are servo skulls. A servo skull is made from a loyal servant of the Imperium after their death and is considered one of the highest honors. There is some contention as to whether there is any brain matter left in the servo skulls, some sources say that there is no brain matter left in a servo skull and has been completely replaced by cybernetics and have a machine spirit plugged in, other sources says there is some brain matter still in, but for the most part the person's thoughts and personality are subsumed by the machine spirit. The creepy flying babies are a type of servitor called cherubs. Some cherubs are made from lobotomized infants that are the children of criminals and traitors, but most are specifically vat grown for that purpose. The creepy people who were part machine are servitors. Servitors are criminals or traitors who have been lobotomized and have entire chunks of their bodies replaced with machinery, sometimes due to a slight error in the lobotomization or because the tech priests were feeling particularly cruel that day, they're not completely turned into a vegetable and their conscious mind is still fully aware and they can see, hear and feel everything, they're just unable to control their bodies or speak, just constantly mentally scream. A percentage of servitors are people who have incurred a debt to the Mechanicus or a powerful individual, sometimes a planetary governor, and undergo the process to become a servitor to pay their debtors. Many servitors are vat grown for that very purpose.

Indeed they’re called servo skulls and they’re basically used for everything, be it as say a floating camera, weapons platform, librarian, currier and bomb, as long as it’s a small and simple task that needs to be done, there’s a servo skull for it, however only the most pious and devoted are allowed to become servo skulls as it is believed to be a great honor to serve even in death and that the deceased can still perform their functions even though they have died, some might be treated as familiars, whilst others are seen as companions, whilst many are seen as pests or as an annoyance, as for the poor saps bound to those robot arms are called servitors, criminals or undesirables who become Frankensteined into becoming a cyborg slave and are used for basically anything and everything, be it for say management, to heavy weapons platforms to even pleasure servants such as bar tenders and the like, whilst most are used as living computers, where they’re literally stuffed into a wall and then used as a computer, to monitor or control certain systems or functions. Most servitors are as I said former humans, slaves, criminals, scum or even the unfortunate, bound for eternity until their masters grow bored of their existence, only to be thrown away and disposed of like some outdated computer.

what you watched here are three different things: the first is the Animation produced by Games Workshop, depicting how a Space Marine recruit finally bears his armor for the first time. The second Animation is the Trailer for the 10th Edition of the Table Top War Game of Warhammer 40k which is at the heart of all Warhammer 40k. the 10th edition is very Space Marines vs Tyrannids focused. The Third animation is the Finale of the first Space Marine Game.

Those are three videos - Armouring of Space Marine, 10th Edition Trailer, and Outro of Space Marine 1 game. Space Marines - they are augmented. Taken as young boys from populations living in the harshest environments in the Empire. From the age of 8 to 18 they are under a murderous regime of tests and training, and all this time they receive implants made of the genetic material of Primarch (20 superhero-level genetically engineered, warp-boosted "sons" of Emperor). Those organs include an extra heart, extra lung, super effective kidneys, organs making them able to stay awake for weeks or sleep for centuries, make their senses beyond human. One of them is Black Carapace which is under the skin and works as an all-body connector with armor. Also, that book there is Codex Astartes. Second video - That man speaking is Primarch of Ultramarines Robute Guilliman (also the author of Codex Astartes). He is currently Lord Commander of the Empire. He and Lionel El'Johnson of Dark Angels are the only Loyal Primarchs that returned to Empire. Third Video - yeah, Inquisition has full prerogatives to execute anyone who they deem a danger to Empire.

The halo TV show is not halo. It used the name but pretty sure the people that made it said they wanted to stay away from the source material. I really hope that Henry Cavill can make it good.

I guess most power armor is just going either off of WW1 and 2 gas mask and helmet designs or plate armor so it all looks kind of similar. I think even Star Wars falls into that. But when 40K came out in the 80s I don't think they were thinking of copying anything out of Star Wars as the first depictions of space marines were wearing a different set of armor not shown much in this trailers and whatnot. Also an entirely different type of marine they are using now but that's a whole thing. The first 2 vids are promoting the tabletop games. The last one was a weird cut up sequence of clips from the Space Marine game. Also I don't get the title of the vid. None of these are becoming a space marine for the first time at all. Like a lore tidbit, those bullets in the guy's head are service studs. Every silver (or I guess grey depending on hot it looks) denotes 50 years of active service. Every gold one is 100. So that guy in the first one has been on active duty for 100 years, where Titus has been around for 200 years. So, this isn't even the first time that guy armored up. It's also all from the same chapter which is problematic. I know the Ultramarines are the box standard marketing guys and all but there are a lot of chapters, and they all do stuff different to varying degrees. But with the Warhammer TV show, when most people think of 40K I think they think of that image of some space marines on a hill surrounded by corpses firing at an endless hoard, but really its much more than that. Like there is a series based in a hive city called Varangantua. It's just about various characters dealing with life in a hive. There was 1 about an old detective and his family, one about 2 ex-military ab human thieves, one that was a buddy cop thing with an emotional cop and his Mechanicus partner. It's grim dark but it's not like the planet is invaded by space bugs or anything. I don't think that's what they should do, I think they should stick to an Inquisitor story, but they don't need to do this grand war which ends with Mortarian getting killed by a plucky gaurdsman with a bar of soap or something.

Mark Strong voiced Capt. Titus. It's really a shame they couldn't get him to do so in Space Marine 2

A small possible correction to the whole 'first time thing'. The Astartes that we see getting suited up actually has two service studs above his right eye. This could be anything up to 200 years to this point. Also, unless anyone can tell me otherwise, I think service studs are an Astartes thing, so going by that logic, this is certainly not the first time he has worn this armour!

Power armour is available to quite a few persons with the right resources, highly protective, strength enhancing, air/vacuum tight with a myriad of support functions such as medical systems/communications and targeting......however, none of these people can wear power armour in the way that a space marine can wear it. The marine has deep surgical sockets that link his black carapace to the power armours " war spirit "....what we what call a low level AI. ( actual AI is heresy ) The black carapace, as well as being a protective ,subdermal layer, directly melds his nervous system to his amour so that the amour actually becomes part of him and enhances his already formidable senses, strength and reaction speeds with out any drawbacks. Non-marine, essentially wears a bulky, heavy, relatively slow suit with a delay in their reflexes....they are in fact piloting the suit. Marine basically becomes the suit with no slowdown in reflexes/weighing him down or hinderance to spatial awareness, his mind instantly and subconsciously utilising all the armours enhanced systems and is simply further enhanced by its use.

Those baby robots you mentioned are actually a very special variant of the Servitors. The so-called cherubim. Unique constructs of the Adeptus Mechanicus which have deliberately been given the appearance of childlike angels. The same phenomenon that can also be found in old representations of the Christian Bible. Above all else, this appearance is intended to symbolize the ultimate form of purity. But when you see the lovely little ones floating along like that... you might just feel a cold shiver down your spine.

Which is a game... but yeah, all these quality trailers and only a handful of games to back them up... i really wish we would get another CGI movie, but good. There is clearly a big demand, even the react channels help. Maybe you see people new to the lore as annoying, but i see it as more people i can potentially talk about 40k in more detail and connect on some level.

those flying baby robots are actual babies that had their brains modified to turn them into servitors. A servitor is a robot except a human brain still runs it and they tend to have at least a few human bits.

It's powered armor it enhances their already enhanced strength and speed. The back pack of armor holds the suits power source a mini fusion reactor. The undersuit of the armor connects to black carapace that is under the marines skin, this connects the the armor to the marine so they can operate their armor smoothly. Spartans from the Halo franchise were inspired by the Space Marines/Adeptus Astartes from warhammer 40k One of things I like about the Halo tv show was the action and the brutal violence because compared to the games in the Halo Novels there are lots of very gory and violent moments Both Halo Spartans and 40k Space Marine are trained as children then genetically enhanced to become super soldiers in power armor that enhances their already enhanced strength and speed made to be the defenders of humanity.

The tactile part of the black carapace...thats what that inner suit is called...helps the marine to function as if his armour where a part of his body, so he can move as if there was no armour at all.

Im a fan for 18 years now. I read the novels ,not into tabletop and i honestly cant imagine a series with Henry Cavill which really shows WH40K without scaring the shit out of people. Therefore i think its going to be a mess. The imperium literally is Nazis in space and human lifes are worthless. How would one create a realistic series in this emotionally loaded woke film industry right now? Take the Emperors children for example. They are a depraved space marine legion which raids other worlds mainly for human slaves that they can turn into a combat drug named ambrosia and the production process is so sadistic by itself that you can only portray it in novels. Or the traitor legion of the Iron Warriors. Their geneseed has become instable because of them living in the eye of terror for millennia and they need to put captured children from loyal imperial worlds into demonic incubator machines which produce new space marines at 20% efficiency, the rest ends as mutilated skinless horrors who strife the surface of this demon world. And even the newborn space marines are skinless so they put adult human slaves in cages and forcefeed them until to maximum obesity and farm their skin while they are still alive to clad their new marine recruits in fresh skin...I love those novels but you cant make a TV series out of it without terrifying people.
