Haha!! I used that exact earplug to catch a walleye. Made a worm harness out of it, and it works great!!!!

I use bolts that are free, but I sorta get it. I use them earbuds and an air gun to clean my powdercoating hose. They work well for that

I use earplugs under those annoying little square nuts on motorcycle batteries. Squish it in the there under the nut and the nut is held in place forever !!

All that painters tape ain't free!

Chopping up a few dollar store pool noodles will do the same thing. And you don't have to buy overpriced recycled rubber & plastic ear protection. Funny thing though.... these companies/corporations get free recycled plastics and rubber... yet they raise prices every 6 months... hmmmm pulling a Nestle in California water trick I guess

Seems like a waste of* time and earplugs honestly. Just paint, then tap them. It'll create a cleaner line around the port than what the plugs will give you, and tapping will clean the threads flawlessly. Especially working on motors where most threads need to be tapped anyway 🤷‍♂️

Couldn’t you just use a small piece of paper towel and twist it in? No? It is a good idea though 😎👍🏻👍🏻

Some of the "outdoor toys that make noise" websites will sell you a huge box of earplugs for not a lot of money......

If you have access to the backside of the bolt hole, just thread a bolt in and leave the tip flush with the surface.

U can buy the cheapies in buckets where it’s like 10 bucks for a couple hundred

I dont how well it would work....but marshmallows are cheap

Just toss your old used ones in a container to save them just for painting. I use them when coating rifle barrels.

Just buy any cheap memory foam and use that or carpet padding

I use hot glue gun. Spray lube first then when down unscrew it out

Whatever you do don't get paint on your painted threads

The cheap orange ones work better for this, those nice laser ones are better in ear holes

I use bits of Styrofoam panels (insulation panels) much cheaper, but don't use as ear plugs 😂

Lol, on every job site that I went on that had boxes of those earplugs rather than the cheap ones, I would always grab a small handfull if the box wasn't getting low, just in case I got stuck on a jobsite that didn’t have them.

Good for a nose bleed too.

Paint in threads? You don’t chase them anyways? Oil ports on the other hand...

Buy them in the 500 dispenser and they are much cheaper and you don't have that little bit of plastic to throw away.
