This yacht spoiled me. Ever since I watched the walk through, no other appeals as much to me at any price. The layout, woodwork to die for and interior decor have done me in. After watching lots of yachting videos, I love explorer yachts the most. They look so ready for adventure on the outside and Nordhavns especially are like heaven on the inside. I really am in awe of the people who can visualize and build such beautiful, complex and functional creations. So much talent and fine taste.
The first battle that my dad was in during WWII was Attu and Adak. His last battle was Okinawa. Thank you for showing the islands. He has been gone for 21 years now.
Thankyou for such an amazing video and an absolutely stunning vessel,i spent 14 years in the RN how I wish they had ships like that, very well put together film.
Wonderful video. High quality footage. Great music. What a journey for the maiden voyage on that beautiful boat! Seem like great people too! Thanks for sharing that!
Beautiful yacht. And most importantly, very capable too. Appeared to handle the big seas / swells well and proved itself as a well designed offshore cruiser. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Awesome, awesome, AWESOME, video! Must have been a lifetime achievement to take your family across the Pacific! So fun to watch! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us!!! ✌🏻
Wonderful running commentary, I enjoyed your trip as well. Thanks. It's nice to see how a trip on a boat that size would be. We've all seen boats like that and wondered what it is like. I found your explanation of navigating, with amounts of fuel, water and all the other things you needed very interesting. Great photography too, Thanks again.
Beautiful boat and an immersive experience, having grown up on my friends MY Van Triumph 212 footer, l felt the seabreeze and the ocean swells in your video. Thank you. 🌊
It must feel acomplishing. Not only to build something so Grand, but then to navigate it through the different element's without any major problems. That really speaks of the craftsmanship, & engineering that you guys put into the yachts that you build. I stand amazed. Congradulations or a job well done!
I'm back to watch this video again. I love this ocean crossing. It's a dream of mine. I know how difficult it can be, but boy, this is what an adventure is like. Thanks again for posting!
This was a very informative and professionaly produced video on taking a new yacht from the factory to final delivery in Vancouver. The owners's boat house was very impressive.
I watched this delivery video when it came out about 8 years ago. It's the only one on RU-vid that I come back to and watch every few years, making it my most-watched RU-vid vid. Love Nordhavn and what they build for purpose.
looks lovely, I am now a yachtbuilder after I left Cummins in 1974, no yacht now as I suffered a stroke and zero energy to build, although I have finished the dwgs
Beautiful vessel, and an even better little documentary on the trip itself. I travel the world flying a jet for someone, would love to do it once on a boat. Nicely done.....
Years ago I was a commercial diver based out of Duncan BC on Vancouver Island, I made the trip north to Alaska many many times with our live aboard and dive barge. It was always hurry up and get to the job site , on every trip I would say to my self “ to do this on a nice yacht and lots of time would be a dream come true “ Unfortunately I have to work to live.
Outstanding job Doug! Beautifully shot and edited, giving us a real sense of what it was like to be aboard. Must be great to meet cool people along the way and invite them aboard for a few drinks and a meal, and get in some exploration too! Note to self: must..get..120 ft..yacht ; )
Great story. I agree the COG seemed high, but there must be magic happening with such a low draft. Very curious about the stabilizer systems as a beam sea would tend to pitch that shape. Perhaps thats why you had to head further north. Beautiful boat, beautiful finish, and love the state of the art nav and engineering. Wow!!
Totally enjoyed this video! Well done and kudos to the Ship, Captain and Crew! Amazing story of what it’s like to cross the Pacific on a bad ass yacht! I was a little worried during the bad weather but I’d crew with these guys any time!
We do have a 35feet Trawler in our family, but I will never be able to own a boat such as this one or, I suppose, none of Nordhavn boats in range ...but , I never watched a video longer than 5/6 minutes on RU-vid , and for this one, I wished it never ended, and when the end came, I felt like "i was with you" on the boat, for the whole duration of the trip! The editing, the musics, the camera angles etc, were really amazingly well done . Yes, If I would win the lottery...I know for SURE, I would buy a Nordhavn .
Wonderful video. High quality footage. Great music. What a journey for the maiden voyage on that beautiful boat! Seem like great people too! Thanks for sharing that!
Thoroughly enjoyed watching the voyage. I especially enjoyed your stop over on Adak. I hadn't seen that beautiful place since I was stationed there in '87 and '88. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
beautiful documentary. Nice to see a really seaworthy megayacht. And a lot of the footage was awesome : Hong Kong, Adak, Alaska etc. . It must have been epic, thanks for sharing.
A perfect presantation of the vessel and your company. I have seen this a few times and I just want to spend some time onboard on the sea. Awesome! Now all I need is to win big time on the lottery so I can make you guys a call! A very nice video, thank you for sharing!
What a beautiful boat! It must feel amazing to be the owners of such a gorgeous vessel. Although the only part of the design that I do not care for is the sectional partition rails aft. However that is my own personal preference, and not a deal breaker in the least. As I am aware that many boat owners also love this design. Ex-Navy
Nice video, yacht, and narration. I been to many boat builders peppered along the Pearl River leading into China. Didn't realize the Nordhavn was built in China. I'll have to visit the facility. Thanks for sharing this.
I enjoyed every minute of this I wish the owner health to enjoy this beautiful vessel well done guys ,,,come to Ireland next i'll buy you all a Guinness
The "owner" of this boat you see in the video won't be enjoying it. He tried to swerve paying the proper import taxes on the thing and when he got caught, tried to dodge paying for the yacht altogether so he couldn't be held legally liable for the import duty and the potential criminal charges. The man tried to destroy the company that built the boat, failed, and had to sell it.
@@robashton8606 Most people that own these type of boats are some kind of slime bags that fiddled and crooked everything and everybody all their lives. Thats how the can afford to buy them. Pathetic Bunch.
What a wonderful, very enjoyable presentation. I can't even fathom the money it takes to build, operate and maintain a boat like this. Wow Wee what a boat. A beautiful floating home that can transport you to anywhere in this world of ours!
I'll have to try to talk my brother into giving up his 64' Ocean Alexander and going with this. I loved the bridge layout but would liked to have seen a bit more of the berthing tho. All in all, a very nice job.
....Great job of keeping a long trip interesting. Felt like I was crew. First time for everything, my use of the word...Delightful...Thank You...A.C.Feuerhelm
What a great video 📹 adventure. Thank you for the ride along.🛳 This boat was well built and beautiful to look at. Great trip & Very nice Photography.📸 I Enjoyed this video immensely.💯👍
I was in Adak back in 1963 on the USS Salmon SS-573 we stopped for diesel fuel when it was a USN Naval air station then we went on patrol to monitor Russian launched missiles ... we were ten (10) miles off of Kamchatka when President Kennedy died we thought we were going to war for sure. Then we had to go back to Adak to get more fuel to return to San Diego. The trip took ten days to get there to Adak and we hit force 9 weather with fifty foot high waves. Never forget it watching your video brought all of those memories back.
I like the owners! They let come normal people come on bord for a visit. Normal fishermen who are interested in this great ship. Here in Germany no rich guy would have people "kind of this" on his ship. This was a great video - thank you for sharing this here!
You mean Diane and Bob Conconi who later sued Nordhavn after this video was made (for the record the Conconi's lost their suit) over quality issues over this very same Nordhavn?
I imagine they're mostly happy days when you're a billionaire with a yacht. You simply shell out and have others deal with the problems, logistics and maintenance.
Although when we retire, our retirement would probably not cover the cost of the diesel for this yacht, I do like seeing how the M/V community lives and motors about. Nicely done! Now, next time you motor past a sailboat, please give it a bit of room. Okay?
i too have watched this a few times; what a great story, the yacht handled magnificently, the crew were obviously amazing and the owners must be so proud. The Chef......where is he now? Congratulations
Erin Thorkildsen are you serious? China builds goods to suit your budget. They can do cheap and nasty but they can do incredible quality too, if you're willing to pay for it.
@@Erin-Thor I'm not exactly sure I didn't read a bunch into it but it would seem like it was over money and then it was said that the owner never accepted the yacht but if it was me why did they leave China with it like it was obviously it's like a car there's no motivation to fix it once it's off the lot
Mark Powell - Something doesn’t sound right. I too would assume that once you took delivery of a yacht, it would be like a car... you’ve done bought it. He may have phoned his bank and refused final payment, who knows. So the good news is there’s a slightly used yacht for sale cheap somewhere! LOL!
@Hans Wurst I'm thinking more like at the time of construction, their own facilities couldn't accommodate a ship this size, so they brokered a deal to use the facilities of that particular shipmaker.
Just the boathouse for this yacht was amazing. The problem with these megayachts is not just owning them, but crewing, running and maintaining them..you really need to be megarich to have such a thing. What would this trip in fuel, crew wages, port fees and day to day maintenance be worth?
No it would cost around 500k per year! Captain 150k deck hand 50k each engineer 100k insurance 80k dock 50k then fuel! A yacht maybe 150 to 200 feet yes 1 mill per year but not a 120 footer!
Guy I worked with wanted a boat. He and I went to a boat show and I tried to hold him back but the super salesmen kept giving him beers and before I realized it, he had signed 5 papers of intent to buy on 5 boats between 30 feet and 40 feet. He ended up getting a Rinker 34. His decision maker was that it has a built in blender for margaritas and a stall shower. I just walked away. He was in it for $170,000. FULL PRICE and no freebees. He let the super salesman handle the financing. 20 year loan, and he could JUST handle the monthly payments. Then he got hit with mortgage insurance, sales tax, boat property tax, boat insurance, slip fees, monthly maintenance. Then he called me and wanted me to move his boat from the sales dock to the dock slip he had gotten. I wondered why he didn't do it and he said he tried but crashed it into another boat. Turns out he had NEVER driven a boat before and now he had a 34 footer with two HUGE engines. He eventually sold the boat three years later for about $90,000 and less than 50 hours on the engines. He had to remortgage his house to cover the loss, and go back to work out of retirement. Last I heard he had bought a big motorhome.
