In this video (part one in a series) I will be walking along the Norfolk Coastal Footpath, a long distance trail following the beautiful, rich coastline of North Norfolk.
Carrying everything I need and wild camping along the way, I start in the seaside town of Hunstanton, walking through salt marshes, reed beds, dunes, coastal villages and nature reserves to the village of Burnham Deepdale. I stop along the way to show you some of the features and sites of interest along this stunning and unique coastline, and give you a taste of North Norfolk. Weary after a long days walk, I set up camp in the salt marshes, have a well earned dinner and a couple of East Anglian ales before settling down for the night in my bivvy bag cocoon.
I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

Frankiez220 Just because something is not someone’s “cup of tea” doesn’t take away the fact that a nice long walk along a quiet and peaceful track is both relaxing and soul cleansing. So many people have to have “high adventure” and drama before they’re entertained. Folks need to step back, and to use a cliche, “take time to smell the roses”. I’m 73 years along the trail and wish I’d slowed a bit in my younger years. Had lots of adventures but sometimes missed the best part of them: the peace, serenity and pace of the natural world. No judgements and hope I don’t offend but, again, to use another cliche, “too soon old, too late smart”. Best wishes and happy adventures!

I know this area quite well, my grandparents lived near King's Lynn and I've spent very many holidays along the North North Coast. It's one of the most beautiful and unspoilt places in Britain. The only bit of the coast I've walked is from Burnham Overy to Sheringham, and from Sheringham to Cromer and back about a hundred times. Happy days, looking forward to your next video x Great camera work BTW x

What I love is the facts you give. Not only that you've given a bus route which is fantastic. Stops and shops you've explained. Fantastic things to know. Honestly Simon. If people want to get to know the UK there should be a show for people who love camping and hiking, what spots to visit etc. You'd be a great host.

excellent video Simon! very informative and helpful. Instead of cutting inland at Thornham/Titchwell, it's possible to walk along the path along the main A149 road right? Not particularly pleasant but not completely unsafe right, and at least it gets you back on the good bit of the coastal path quicker. Any thoughts/advice?

Getting caught up on some of the trips from the past few years. I don't know why, but they are very relaxing 😎. I tried a bivy style once. I got tired of squeezing into it. I found that one person tents had a lot of room with not much more weight and that was it for me. Keep enjoying the outdoors Simon! And keep making these great videos🤠

Simon, I don't know if anyone has asked this before but would it work to have a drone sitting and taking video of you walking away and then instead of you walking back to get your tripod the drone can fly to you? I know nothing of drones or cameras so it just might be a silly question.

Stiffkey is a great place, the vicar of the church there got mauled by a lion lol! random fact. deepdale is a great campsite and i know the shop well! the coasthopper bus service is the best bus company i've ever seen! well done mate, top drawer, cant wait for part 2! would love to do a meet up and a walk and a camp with you btw if ever you'd be interested.

Addicted to watching your videos Simon, you just show how easy it is really, if you have the time and gear. Speaking of which, what sleeping mat and sleeping bag do you use on this video? Maybe you have already done a video on this, sorry if so and you're repeating yourself. Keep up the great videos, love em!

Thank you!! My sleeping bag is a Mountain Hardwear Lamina 35 - rated to about 0 degreesC and the mat is a Thermarest Neoair xtherm. 👍

I'm too claustrophobic to sleep in one of those. I have a hammock with a fly screen that envelops it, and I can't sleep in that, either, for the same reason.

I was thinking,...now there's a lad that can clock up a few miles, more so considering your past history with A/F. Have you had any more little moments since you got sorted out..? It makes my life a bloody misery if I'm honest and safe to say I'm more or less housebound unless I take the car. Never mind...Cracking video once again....they help me pretend that I'm out 😁

Thanks Robert! I’ve been really lucky, the ablation was a complete success, I’ve not had a single episode since. I occasionally get a little heart race, or skip a beat, but it all just settles back to normal after a couple of seconds. The procedure is life changing! Is there any chance of you being put forward for it? Cheers mate, Simon

I need to lose a bit of weight to fit inside the MRI Scanner ...they need to pinpoint the problem area before they get stuck in. I'm having problems with fluid retention and the extra baggage that that creates. I'm on water tablets, so four or five times an hour I'm in straining my greens..!!!. I can't venture too far without sound geographical knowledge of any water closets......And I need new knees because they're shot as well, so walking isn't much of an option....unless I'm pushing a shopping trolley hahaha..! One of these days hopefully......besides I'm itching to get this Dutch Oven flashed up and see what I can create. I'd give it a whirl round the back of the house...but that's cheating..😁

Nice Simon. Dang, you walked all day. haha...That soup slurp had me cracking up. Wrong place to do it though. Now if you were in Japan, then that's considered to be a compliment. lol...I had started with part two earlier then realized it was part 2 lmao...Awesome trip so far.

Thanks mate! It was a tough couple of days hike - on the map it’s 23 miles, in reality (with the filming) closer to 28, yep, i earned those chips! 😁

Excellent video of scenery and culture with which I have little knowledge. Interesting lunch...are fishy noodles a staple among the British camping populace?

PIG !!!! Hey bud .. have you tried "www.tentmeals.co.uk" the moroccan mango spiced couscous is top drawer, that sleeping bag looked a tad on the thin side was it mild enough ??

Hi Johnny! Hahaha - pig and proud!! 😂 I’ll check out those meals, there have got to be better ones about than the one I had! To be honest, I went a bit under rated on the sleeping bag - it’s a two season bag, but was JUST warm enough, snuggled right down in it! I was trying to save bulk in my pack! 😁

It's a beautiful part of the world. It's not far away from me in Cambridge. However, in lockdown it seems like a world away.
