I'm listening to the joke and thinking, "What's the punchline going to be?" Then he goes the most obvious route which makes it that much funnier. Brilliant.
The cost of the operation reminded me of a joke I heard on Weekend Update (not Norm). "A woman paid $3000.00 for a kidney transplant for her dog...which was only $2500 more than the whole dog transplant."
But Norm was so great on Letterman & Kimmel too. I do agree Norm did shine on Conan. Such a star ⭐️ miss Norm a lot. I imagine how he would be today in these crazy sensitive times. He would be so funny. ☮️💟✝️
@@angelaoehley809 In today's times? He only passed away less than a year ago. He made jokes about coronavirus and LGBTQ+ and a bunch of other stuff relative to the current moment. I do get what you're saying though, his comedy cut straight through all the bs and today there seems to be as much bs as ever
My favorite appearance was when Courtney thorn smith was promoting a movie with carrot top and the comedic genius and timing was probably my favorite non scripted talk show moment of all time. That one or when he was on the view
Two lighthearted guys that managed to stay that way all the way through the stuff that they didn’t know was in front of them. RIP Norm. “We’re on cable by now” yes you would be eventually Conan, and you did it even better there.
@@AllisonChains64 Conan O'Brien has turned into/been revealed as a leftist loon. Not as insane as Andy Richter but pretty insane. He helped culturally cancel Norm in 2018. He allowed Richter to take ten minutes out during the Norm 'tribute' podcast to talk about how problematic one of his old mining town jokes from 10 years ago was. He allowed the censorship of the word 'ret@rds' in an uploaded Norm clip the day after he died. And during his uploading spree of classic Norm clips in HD, carefully avoided uploading any of the (hilarious) ones in which he did un-PC jokes. The only exception was the censored Courtney Thorne-Smith clip mentioned, bc he had to upload it and the un-PC bit was minor in the clip and could be edited. The full-on jokes involving gays, midgets, race, anything un-PC, he didn't upload and will never upload. Meanwhile he has no problem uploading in HD old Dave Chappelle appearances where he does endless anti-white material and wears a black power t-shirt.
There is a video of Norm telling the cat story on Leno, he didn't get to finish it! I enjoy watching all of his material, but Norm with Conan just always works the best.
In a 1997 episode of "Seinfeld" called "The Merv Griffin Show", George finds himself in exactly the same situation, except that, in George's case, he's not visiting his cat at the veterinarian's office, he's visiting the squirrel he hit with his car. George is even given the same 30-minute time limit. Coincidence?
RIP, Norm..you will always be my favorite, underrated courageous genius. A heck of a lot better guy than that Hitler character. In fact, I don't care what you say, that Hitler was a real jerk.
@@micahwest5347 That joke didn't even end properly. Norm took way too long with the story and Leno had to cut him off before he got to the punchline ("the good news is, it's just a cat!")
@@cruz1ale yes. Both renditions have their highlights. Glad he never shared it on fallon. That lowlife wasn’t worthy of Norm’s magnificence and probably would have ruined it with fake laughing at the wrong parts and more interruptions.
Norm tells some jokes that are supposed to bomb and he gives the vibe that he enjoys that more than killing it I imagine him as kid being more excited to show his folks the report cards when he got got a couple F rather than showing them a report card when he did well He just enjoys the reaction people have when they think he is bombing. It's a good luck figuring me out assholes😅 Imagine a comedy tour featuring Norm Macdonald and Andy Kaufman 😅😅 We just weren't worthy of it
So right! The way he sets up his jokes he can’t lose. I’m often left wondering “did he mean for that one to bomb or did it really just bomb”. Only he would know the difference… and the fact that he doesn’t seem to care makes it even better.
It made me so happy to see the Lucky Number 7 story on here too. I love that one! Happy Birthday, Norm! Since you are undoubtedly in Heaven, maybe you’ll get the princess treatment and get 2 cakes!🥳🎂🎂❤️
Comedians, like few others, really are never recognized for their talent until they're gone. They can be popular and rich like Robin Williams, but the genius part almost always is only appreciated after they're gone.
