I met Mr Collier outside a nightclub in Longton Stoke On Trent whilst waiting for a taxi , a true gentleman he was my favourite comedian of all time , he didn't have to use bad language or any of that nonsense just simple facial expressions [ like The Chicken Routine ] sleep well Mr Collier and thanks for being part of my growing up and making me laugh
Hi Terry How wonderful for you to meet him. He did seem a very down-to-earth guy and he's humor was pure and funny to everybody. Children and grandmas could watch it. Best Alan
Norman had another way of using the microphone gag, He had a piece of perspex that was shaped like a car door winding window, he used to wind it down to berate someone, whilst still berating he'd wind it back up. I think we've lived through the best of comedians and comedy, modern day types do nothing for me. RIP Norman
Saw Norman, Frank Carson and Duncan Norville in a show on Blackpool North pier, He was one of the best acts I've seen, He didn't need to say anything to get laughs RIP Norman
Hi Steve from what I've picked up he just was a really nice guy. It wasn't so hammered by show business and he just did a nice sweet routine that even children would love. He was very unique
Always seemed a very stable, nice man whose personal life was not taken up with drama, stress and conflict!! I remember him well from my childhood and what a beautiful graveyard! Just such a lovely place to be laid to rest. Rest in peace, Norman. You seemed to have made a lot of people very happy.
His chicken walk routine always creased me as he had studied the movements of a chicken so accurately. he didn't need to say anything and would soon have his audience howling with laughter
I do vaguely remember Norman Collier being on TV although I don't know much about him. As a new subscriber, I really have to say I am enjoying your channel very much, you are reminding me of people I hadn't thought about in years, some I had no idea had gone, thank you. I am slowly, but surely making my way through your videos 😊
Another great video. It's a bit strange watching this one, because I met Norman after I travelled to Rotherham to see him live. I actually got to have a pint with him afterwards. He was a lovely and friendly fella. I was gutted when he died, because he was so brilliantly funny, but it was also my birthday.
The sad part about growing old is that you know more people that have passed away than those that are still around now and if it wasn't for today's social media many would have passed without notice.
Hahaha, never forget Norman Collier, he was an absolute hoot! 🥰 Not to forget his car door routine either heheee. Back in 1981 I was in Great Yarmouth with my sister and the daft beggar came up behind us with that blasted fire extinguisher he had, and he chased me and my sister all the way down the sea front, tying to blow up our skirts 😆😆😆😆
I met the gentleman. I ended up cleaning up after him, he had been sick.!!! He had come to our hospital to present a minibus. He visited a children's ward, he became ill and I was sent to clean up!! My claim to fame ha ha!
Remember him so well. It was a different type of humour back than. But those were the best days. I watched the comedians I actually saw Canon and ball I thought they were funny. Another very interesting video thanks for sharing I enjoyed it. Love from Holmfirth West Yorkshire 💙
Hello again Gill as a duo in comedy I thought they were the funniest with Bobby a little bit of a genius. I wonder if you did the routine where is heckling from the crowd? Maybe they only did that in the early days. Well, not everybody knew they were a duo 😂
Sometimes we forget how simple things make us laugh and the people that bring it to us comedy has changed alot but I still crave the simple nice comedy that brings so many laughs with it's simplicity
Hello Michelle, it was a great clean family comic that did nothing but make people feel happier. It was great at his job. Thank you for the comment Alan
I cvcled from Hull to Shefffield and went through Welton. I remember thinking what a beautiful village that was. I didnt k ow Norman was burried there but he definitely is a very funny man. Ive tried to do that broken mic routine and its not easy
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep I think he lived in Lytham St. Anne’s cos there is a photo of him on the seafront by a seating area, together with a photo of Les Dawson. He was on Sunday radio mostly and we would listen to him eating our Sunday dinner, as well as Round The Horne, The Clitheroe Kid and Meet the Huggets. Now that is showing my age.
Out of all of these comedy acts of that time.. Norman had to be the top of the heap... such a funny guy.. loved him... my sister worked with him years ago and said that he would walk the hotel corridor first thing in the morning doing his chicken act..so sad.. I didn't know he had passed xxx
I often say his name when I get a work call that’s got a bad connection, if you’re not asked who’s that, you know the other person is over a certain age! Funny man, good clean comedy.
Well you certainly fooled me with your microphone routine. I thought strange you are normally such a perfectionist you would have deleted this surely . Brilliant. Loved Norman Collier such a talent very unique and very individual and hilarious. They certainly don’t make them like this anymore and to be honest I don’t think his material has really dated to be honest. I think it could still stand up today. Brilliant , Alan ❤️
Hello John, it was just a bit of fun I was messing about. Couldn't really do it so well but who cares. John himself was very funny with the broken mic. Quite unique. Take care mate. Alan
Thank you for visiting and paying respects to these people, going places where we cant all go and allowing us to visit through your videos. Your videos are so interesting but I do wish (if possible) you could leave them some flowers on our behalf. Some of these graves have nothing and look so sad. Is there a way to "buy some flowers" in the same way other vloggers can " buy me a coffee"?? Keep up the good work!💗
Hello Andrea, please believe me I totally understand what you're saying I feel the same but I'm not a big fan of cut flowers because I think they're dying the moment you cut them. I've been thinking of having a real plant or paying for a representative plant that's will last but I can leave it to everyone. It's a great suggestion and I want to do it in one way or another. But thank you, I appreciate it for sure. Good night Alan
That info you mentioned about the broken mic is wrong. The broken mic routine actually happened at Wheatley Working Mens Club, Doncaster. That's the club in the clip. I lived up the road from it! Gigged it myself a nuber of times!
T-o Nor-m-n [t-tap-tapping t-i mik-e]. Hail fellow, well met. Thank you, MH B B. I always remember Norman, initially, from the late 1960s ... Obviously I could be wrong (I was born 29 March 1951 ...). Stay free, Norman Collier Esq. Rab 🎤 🍻 😎 🕊
Hey Alan great fella Norman was see him in person in Blackpool many years ago he was a truely one off guy so so funny sadly missed ....... Any chance you could video Alvin stardust for me Alan please I try too find out the cemetery ok send u details Cheers mate
Hello Andy, it's often said but it was a one-off you couldn't mistake him and how lucky he was to see him live. Lovely memory. Alvin would be great. I remember reading a story about a guy who owned a pub in Bradford and he said he was a very nice chat. There's a picture of him pulling a pint. I always thought it was a good singer and amusing in style. Love to do him. I love my coo ca choo... Take care mate alan@endeavourcottage.co.uk 07813779273
