Watching this video reminded me of the thrill of the Ducatis from years ago. Just like anything else, once you understand them and their maintenance quirks they were reliable and fast. It was hard to find used parts around here though especially motor's... that's because we were all pulling them out of junk and wrecked bikes and putting them in our micro midget racers. Those things were so blasted fast that one of the tracks we used to go to actually made a different class for the Ducatis to run in... they were cleaning up at a lot of the races. Those were the days and I'm glad I'm old enough to have experienced it. Kids nowadays don't really know what they missed. That's why I love watching these videos from Jay Leno's garage... I would love to take a tour of your garage. Thanks for keeping history alive and also showcasing the new products.

I remember being what felt like physically connected to my BMX and then mountain bikes as a teen. I got a moped before I got my first car that did a whole 31mph going downhill! Motorcycles have always had an allure for me, but the same allure falls into what you eluded to about getting a bike that you're not only not prepared for, but unable to drive. The freedom of a motorcycle is intoxicating. The function and purpose of my life currently doesn't allow for one, but I love living vicariously through your perspective here inside this episode. Thanks, Jay!

I bought my first Duc in 1978 when Mike (the bike) Hailwood won the Isle of Man TT in 1978. I bought a Darmah, which I eventually bored out and installed Imola cams, Conti exhaust, ported the heads, etc... all done at Woods Motor Shop in Pasadena. That thing roars (still) and had no problem keeping up with and passing those ol' Z1's. Still have it, still like new. I've owned five Ducs over the years, and will always be a Duc owner. I'll probably be buried in my Darmah...

The front wheel lifted, I froze, I saw the dark diamonds of the road and sensed road rash, severe! @@NudaMan I really don't see the purpose of the 1100. Like 10 more HP and a little heavier. The main thing that drew me to the Scrambler was the size, the bike fits me perfectly and is easy to maneuver. I am 5'9" and 180 lbs and can flat-foot no problem. The Desert Sled Scrambler is a little higher and I can't flat-foot on that bike. In my opinion the bike has an ideal power to weight ratio for a mostly street bike. I did take it on some light off road and sandy trails. Didn't think the Urban Enduro was made anymore. Thought they phased that out for the Desert Sled which is more built for off-road.

The other day in China I talked to a guy who was riding the 1100. I asked him what he'd had it up to. He laughed and said "only about 50 mph. it scares me to go fast. I like a bike that looks good." . Honesty is nice nowadays. That will be a good used bike for someone someday.

@303StreetMachines Traffic fines are extremely low. Danger comes from new drivers. Uturns on the freeway, etc. That part is real.

I think the Panigale V2 is really the sweet spot for Ducati. It is smaller, incredibly beautiful, and the power is enough for anyone.

Cosmopolitan Motors is in Hatboro, PA, and imported all weird stuff from Italy other than Dicati. The Ducati importer was Berliner Motors in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ

At 54 years old, and 35 years since my last bike I bought a brand new bike in July. Finally took the safety class etc since when younger I never bothered with the motorcycle endorsement. It’s become all I think about. Today a few days after Christmas and living on the IL/WI border I went for a 2 hour ride at 56 degrees. I smiled all evening after returning. I’ve also been enjoying adding accessories to my bike here in the cold months. Great hobby.

I think the most important thing I ever learned was to never disrespect the bike. I.E. Don't go all yahoo with 7 sails to the wind. Composure and focus are a must. Always think ahead of what's going to happen next as far ahead as you can. Mind your attitudes: Keeping your attitude in check will save your life. As soon as you think you know it all and are the best rider out there, park it! Due caution at all times forever.

Just thinking that that bike has more power than any of the baddest fourwheelers made today. 1100cc on something that small and geared the way it is, is mind blowing

The V4 is the absolute sweetest 2 wheeled machine available to a Joe Blow like us, 10 years ago this bike would win world superbike. Awesome job, makes me proud to be 1/2 wapp! Damn I’m going to have to go to Tonkins now and ride one. Fantastic Job Gumbas! Viva Italiano!

It was on course to win this year, but they limited the RPM part way through the season and Bautista imploded. Scott Redding won the British Superbike title on one.

Back in the 80's I had a round-case 750 Ducati. The greatest bike I ever rode. Now that thing probably had 60 HP but there was no way I could ride it to its limits. I can't imagine what riding a 200 HP bike is like. It just doesn't make sense.
