Carolina is not as healthy as you think. Backup Pg Anthony Harris is hurt, and starting PF Dawson Garcia is out for the year. This team plays thin, but the Iron Clad 5 prevail! Go heels!
They sure showed a lot of mental toughness. Most teams would have been demoralized and would have lost after the defending National Champions mounted an epic comeback like that and sent the game to OT.
@@nicstembridge5425 ever since Dawson Garcia got hurt that is when they started to shine. It really let brady Manek have an oopurtunity to show his worth.
From a Duke fan…I’m happy for UNC, even though this win ruined my bracket. But honestly in the last few minutes of the game before OT, I felt like they were fighting the Bears and the refs. Some of the worst officiating I’ve seen thus far. Maneks ejection changed the whole landscape of the game. Definitely this game gave me anxiety…but congrats to UNC! Hoping both Duke and UNC make it to the Final Four so we can have a round three!!!
What an exhausting game! Glad the Heels could hold on despite the terrible officiating and player loss. This team can win it all if we keep playing like this!
Thomas sir, you spoke the truth. I've never witness such terrible officiating. I just couldn't believe the officiating. I'm not a NC fan or Baylor, but I'm a fan of good basketball. I started rooting for NC once I started to see the terrible calls.
Stated before the first round, for UNC this really has the feel of 1990. A relatively down UNC, 8th seed, comfortable first round win, emotional close win over a #1 seed from the BIGx. Now let's avoid the following blowout loss.
@@ichiganade2071 Gonna get snarky, best be correct. The 1990 close win in the 2nd was vs. #1 seed OK of the then BIG8, which was a predecessor to the current BIG12. This is why is used the term "BIGx".
Manek almost cause us the game. You can’t throw a elbow intentionally. Plus he look back and threw the elbow. We had them on the Matt until Manek ejection. Then love fouls out. Stiles saved us. Bacot missed some key FT . We won the OT. Baylor got tired, the 25 points comeback was a lot. They went 1 for 13 in OT. UNC won the OT . Ball Game
@@thecommonsenseguy7935 The elbow was on purpose. He look back , then he threw the bow. It was the right call. Almost cost us the game. I think UNC grew up Together. They wasn’t complaining. They went into overtime and played basketball. We won. The end wasn’t pretty, but we got the win. Shoutout to bacot for hanging in their because he missed some key ft. Good Team Victory.
With the way UNC has been playing on the back half of their schedule, I suspected an upset today. They're going to be a very tough out for any squad. They have what it takes to go all the way.
This game was all about toughness, grinding and getting your hands dirty. The Tar Heels were able to hang tough when Manek was ejected for the flagrant 2, but I also credit Baylor for their toughness to grind their way back into this game. Overall, credit to Hubert Davis and North Carolina and they could end up in the elite 8 with R.J. Davis and Bacot
@@clinebroussard5762 dude quit blaming the refs. Just be happy you won a tough game even though Baylor was without their best player and their best big man.
Not a UNC fan but those referees brought back Baylor. Just about every call went against UNC. They player with blond hair had aboit 4 times should of been ejected but ejected the Unc guy. Unreal paid off refs.
The refs tried their best to give the game to Baylor. Ten consecutive fouls against the Heels and every 50/50 ball just happened to be called in Bayor's favor. The Heels kept their composure, though.
@Football Oklahoma oh please lol oklahoma fans are just salty baylor owned them this year in basketball and football. this game was badly officiated for both sides
@@arnoldgomez9767 it's not. People wanna see games with teams trailing by +20 and come back then overtime. Games with ups and downs. St Peter's and Kentucky didn't show audience this
@@LifeofJaxon24 the refs bailed unc out were you even watching? Did you see that out of bound play that the refs claimed was out on baylor and the countless fouls that weren't fowls like the three point fowl where they gave unc 3 free throws???
@@charliel6693 it was a back and forth game that went to overtime multiple lead changes and ended with an amazing upset it’s def the game of the tournament so far
Terrible refs all game. Unc had them on their side in overtime yes but Baylor def payed them for the comeback. No shot that the Kuzma wanna be didn't get ejected and baylor did have every single one of their playrs foul out. The whole 2nd half was Baylor fouling and purppoley trying to hurt unc players to win and they still didn't get any fouls on them called. Pathetic
@@bryankirkham8249 Baylor was literally fouling on every possession, the disparity should’ve been much greater. Also Baylor shot more Fts in actual game flow, the difference came from when Baylor was fouling intentionally late in regulation and overtime
unc fan for over 60 years.......not sure I can overestimate how important it was for the heels to hold on and win this game. to have lost would have put a cloud over our entire program going forward. an amazing and necessary win and a feeling of blue skies ahead!
How come the key moment of the game (the ejection of Manek) isn't included in this "highlight" package? That certainly was the most important part of the game it appears and nothing? Seems like that should be something viewers need to see for themselves, since some controversy about it! Just saying!
From a tarheel - please no. I wouldn’t survive that. The eternal bragging rights of who won would be awful. It’s a nightmare so please no. My heart wouldn’t be able to handle the stress.
They didn’t bother to put in the most consequential moment of the entire game. That Manek ejection was not only huge, it was also just a wrong call. From that point on, the refs lost control of that game. There were some egregious calls against both teams. Those men should hang up their whistles
Those refs were trash. UNC gets in the bonus in the first five minutes of the 2nd half ... then they totally flip and hit UNC with every ticky tack foul plus the ejection. We won't see this crew again.
Couldn't believe they let the game get out of hand that way. I thought I was watching Dennis Rodman or the DWade/Lebron James Miami Heat flop their way to victory. It almost worked. That crew was worse than I have ever seen in a tournament game.
@@weirdbeard63 yeah, 8 straight minutes of gameplay with full court press defense without committing a single foul while UNC racked up 11 against them is definitely biased against Baylor lol
I'm so proud of this Carolina team! They've come along way from a few years ago when they had one of the top recruits in the country (Cole Anthony) only to lose him to injury, not to mention the very unexpected confusing transfer of Walker Kessler that ultimately lead to roy Williams retiring. They've struggled ever since! But this win was much needed to build grit and team cohesiveness down the stretch. With that being said the officiating for this game really concerns me. Sochan is a punk. Kinda seemed like baylor try to pull every cheap trick in the book to get back in the game
UNC should win an award for this game. Their five players just defeated the defending national champs + 3 referees. I have no real concern for either of these teams but the three officials should not officiate another game in this tournament. They freaking blew it. And the NCAA needs to reanalyze their rules on flagrant fouls. The difference between level 1 and level 2 is significant since level 2 causes the player to be ejected; but the terminology is very ambiguous and requires subjective judgment of the officials. The officials should not have this much power over the game. These three officials should be unemployed tomorrow. I feel bad for the kids. The UNC player was having the game of his life and should never have been ejected for that foul. Never.
I am a WVU fan and I totally agree. The refs clearly got Baylor back in the game. Any unbiased basketball fan who watched the game knows this to be true.
I was right there in attendance and this game was an unbelievable roller coaster. Early in the second half it seemed like it was over. Baylor cut the lead to a single digit and the crowd went wild. The OT produced a different feel as Dontrez Styles and the rest of the team took charge to deliver the win.
@@dukemiller1504 Firstly, the NCAA is always stacked against Baylor. I've learned this. If they were trying to help us win, they would've called the missed foul on Bonner's 3. Ridiculous officiating in this one but an exciting game, nonetheless. Baylor couldn't adapt to the tourney's "freedom of movement" reffing, UNC could. Big 12 reffing allows for more physicality (think 90's NBA).
@@shermandudley5548 the NCAA prefers Baylor to be unsuccessful due to the Title IX issues (and those from the early 2000’s) This alongside the fact that we are a relatively small market and take the spot of other large market teams which net them higher revenue (networks) / more exposure.
Thanks. Tough loss for you guys! As UNC fan, pulled hard for you guys last year. So glad you won. Just hope UNC can continue their stellar shooting. Go Bears..you made us ALL proud.
UNC had 20 free throws in the first half. These refs were bad, any defensive mistake that led to physical contact was called a foul but it was not one sided. It was rather whichever team initiated contact had the advantage which was UNC in the first half and Baylor in the second
Great game by the players, awful officiating. The bad calls helped Baylor come back from 25, then the bad calls helped UNC close out the game. Overall I think it evened out and UNc definitely deserved the W.
I told you you and you this is one of the most dangerous team in this tournament. How about Kinston NC Dontrell Styles doing his Michael Jordan impression with that 3 in OT. The Heels cash in on house money again. Advantage Tarheel going back to the east coast. 40 years ago a team went to New Orleans an won a national championship. How about Baylor Bears coming all the way from 25 an almost pulled it out. The path is being laid for the Heels to pull out a unforgettable season. Playing with house money is sure better than your own. Go Heels!
How about the ACC 7-1 an taking down what the big 12 have to offer. Playing with house money an the flagship conference especially that team in Chapel Hill whom most counted them out an gave them house money an wow they are cashing it in a big way. Go ACC and The North Carolina Tarheels.
Wouldn't it be a Hollywood movie script if UNC and Duke meet in the Final Four for a third battle for a chance to play for the championship game? Anyway, go HEELS!
It was a bad play by Manek, did the ref had to eject him , knowing that call would affect the game. Sohand make the game dirty. I thought ref was gonna give Baylor the game. We held on. Again the officiating was awful.
What a game. 👏 My nerves had me all over the place. Let's go baby blue!! Sweet 16 bound!! Hopefully we can play Duke In a round 3.. best rivalry ever!! Battle of the Blues!!! 💯 Keep dancing 🏀. Philly bound!! LETS GO!! #marchmadness #sweetsixteen
March is all about health of body and wealth of scoring. Who can get the hottest and stay the hottest to the end? Toss the seeding out the window we got a good one this year!
Picking UNC was a no brainer on this one. Baylor was down two starters going into the game. To be honest I'm surprised they got close enough in the 2nd half to force OT. Nice game and run NC, looks like you will be playing Kansas in the title game.
Mr. Consistent Armando Bacot is going to be there every game but the guard play between RJ Davis and Caleb Love has been the difference since the ACC Tourney.
