North Fork Yuba River Fishing - July 2020
2wt TFO 8' rod with Orvis Battenkill click reel. #8 Rubber Legs with a #16 Frenchie dropper on a standard Euro nymphing leader/setup--I occasionally attached an indicator, but mainly tight lined nymphed.

I must say the Yuba it’s self is one of the oddest rivers with its own mind sat.. one day your tossing parachutes next day midge or bead heads then like a light switch your Tossing San Juan’s

Agree; also what makes it especially strange is all the old mining dedging that had gone on in the past which created a series of very deep pools.

River otters in the North Yuba in the last few years ate all the big fish. Water snakes eat the smaller fish. Hard for Yuba Rainbow Trout to grow with so many predators about.

That's too bad about the otters. Seems like the river can hold a lot more fish as well as bigger fish due to all the insect life/food. Last time I fished the NFY was 5 years ago and there was fish everywhere and a good number of fish 9-12".

Bassetts to New Bullards Reservoir is good fishing. River is similiar throughout that section.

I fished further south/west I guess, beneath a huge bridge. Really tough. Sir, may I suggest longer leaders, as you always seem to have a lot of line out on the water. You may be missing some fish by "picking up" fly line when you get a strike.. Just an observation. Love your videos and locations. More East side... 🙃

@@purpledrakefishing Hate like heck to post criticism but I really feel it could help. Keep rod tip up with as little fly line on the surface as possible.. I'm in the Sierras all the time hope to see ya up there...
