The North Korean regime considers K-Pop to be a threat. Kim Jong-un himself has called it a “vicious cancer,” corrupting the “attire, hairstyles, speeches, behaviors” of young North Koreans.
Yet the cultural influence of K-Pop can't be denied, and even the regime is trying to harness this power! Here, the songs aren't about romance or self-love, but patriotism and propaganda. We asked a South Korean, American, and North Korean to react to a recent performance!
