Robert Morris indicated he spent two years away from ministry after a teenager first accused him of molesting her. His own book raises questions about that claim.
A pride problem 🙄 There is a video of RM preaching a sermon where he admitted to seeking out “insecure girls.” That’s not a pride problem. That’s a predator.
It's the past! The Devil is the God of your past! It's all he has to work with! He's using the past to stop the move of God! RM was forgiven and set free, and God blessed him for 35 years, and now the return of the Lord is so close the devil is doing everything thing he can to destroy pastors! To destroy churches! And he's using you as well! He's manipulating your heart and your mind to finish the work of the devil! To bring the past back up! The one that was and is forgiven! Repent! Who God has set free is free indeed!
You can be forgiven, but you can never be trusted. He should have never been a church leader. The nepotism at Gateway will have to eradicated before any chance of resurrection. That means all his family should resign from leadership positions. Everyone who knew and did not speak is as guilty as he is and must resign. Absolutely sick.
If they didn't know they shouldn't be blamed. This desire to blame, punish & sue people based on emotion & not guilt & fact is very wrong. It's very strange that they told everyone except the police, & that should be explained as well.
The main issue, is that he said he an inappropriate relationship with a young lady but didn't mention she was underaged at the time. Its more on him, then the board members if its true.
@@darrendent8288 The board members had a duty to learn the more about the his offenses before even considering a “restoration” process. How can a restoration process even begin if more details of a specific offense are not known? It seems they blindly trusted what RM told them. Yes and something else here. I appreciated James Robison’s statement yesterday. However, Morris was rescued from the kind of job he probably should have had but was rescued to work in MINISTRY by James. I am sure it was not something preaching or counseling but James hires him without evidently even finding out all the truth about what he had done. Worse, nobody TOLD Robison? This just gets worse.
I think you don’t realize the manipulation used and power held that these church leaders can hold over members of the church. They can literally confuse parents.
@@MTknitter22 As you can see Robinson did not know what happened. God is merciful and forgiving and we all make mistakes but Robinson had no idea what was happening involving a child and hence I do not believe we can judge Robinson for that.
Yes, and I want to know, when they say he abused her from 12 to 16,did it only end at 16 because that is when she told her parents and so he wasn't allowed around her anymore? I doubt he quit abusing her because HE realized it was wrong. I also doubt Cindy was the only one....

Can the people who knew still be tried for obstruction of justice? Is there a statute of limitations on that? The people who knew and covered this up need to serve jail time as well. And I’d like to sue James Robison, Robert Morris, Olen Griffing and Gateway to return the money I “tithed” at Gateway. It was a money stealing scam. Look at whose name is on the deeds of all of Gateway’s properties.
Tithe money does not go to God. It goes to church employees. You could support needy people directly, like on Just Knate channel. I understand supporting your church but leaders are cashing in!!! God will still bless you.
Agree with your logic, deception was at play. I visited this place in 2008, looking for a church, after about 2 months I decided it was not what I was looking for. Anything I gave, I gave willingly, but never again. My money will go directly to people who need help, I am responsible for that decision. When I see the great needs in our nation, I am sickened by these millionaire pastors and ministers, their earthly kingdoms are going to be burned up, turned to ashes. Awakening and repentance are long overdue!
I disagree. If he is speaking biblical truth leave them there. He should step down from his pulpit and ministry. But I'm sure his books helped millions of people. ARe you a sinner? Have you committed dreadful sins before? I don't know. Christ's know all men and women's' hearts.
@@tammycaskey6990 There's no reason for any of his books to be found anywhere, and nobody is ever going to read them again. Biblical truth also says to follow the laws of the land. Biblical truth also expects that children will be protected. We can assume the allegations against him are true. Especially since he admitted to it. God needs representatives who aren't an embarrassment to Him.
The reason so many people at Gateway claim lack of knowledge is because the SA took place at a different church long before Gateway was ever started. There are so many bad things that occurred here. An innocent child gets SA by a traveling minister. This went on for 4 1/2 years in the victims own home. The family trusted this man in their home and he never got caught by either family. Which demonstrates some grooming and predatory behavior. 1. The girl's father having heard the details was angry but did not involve the police. Why? 2. The church elders at Shady Grove (not Gateway) removed him from ministry for 2 years while he received counseling and went through a restoration process. 3. Shady Grove, 1 year after Morris' 2 year hiatus, allowed him to be put into an Eldership role. Just three years after RM was caught. 4. 11 years after that, Morris started Gateway. Who at Gateway was going to review his past sin? There would really be no way for the new leaders of Gateway to know the details of any of his past. They would have had limited access and knowledge over the more recent years of his ministry. 5. I am somewhat cynical to believe there was only 1 victim and that RM is truthful in claiming that for 35 years he has walked in purity. Prayerfully I hope that is true. However if that is true, then there is even more reason for Gateway and Elders who came into relationship with RM long after the SA that took place in the 80s. In many cases those elders were 15 years removed from that incident and would only know if someone would bring it to their attention. 6. In 2005 it appears the victim brought back up the allegations seeking financial assistance. At least one elder became aware. And unless that elder dug deep into Robert's past, most likely took RM at his word that this was a past "morale failure" that his wife and Shady Grove dealt with and now he was walking in purity. But the issue over age may of the victim may have never really been addressed. I would think any financial offering to the victim would have requested NDA. And while that sounds dark, the church would not want to keep addressing a situation with RM that occurred long before Gateway existed, and if the victim was seeking money in 2005, would she seek more? Again, RM should have been dealing with this, not Gateway. 7. Lesson should be learned to treat all accusations of SA serious. I understand the victim not acting on justice until later in life, but why did her family (father/mother) who were also ministers not go to authorities? Perhaps they hoped it was a single victim and they did not want to ruin RM marriage / family. But they also allowed for the lack of justice and allowance of other possible victims. it will be interesting in what capacity if any did Gateway elders really know. But Shady Grove certainly had some gaps in the way they handled the situation back in the 80s.
Thank you for your serious and thoughtful comment. As a member of a Baptist church in the '80s, I can imagine that such crimes were dealt with differently back then, if possible. In this case, apparently every effort was made to resolve the situation privately without involving the police or lawyers.
The Lord didn't orchestrate the situation with a child. Robert Morris is responsible for his actions. He still isn't taking responsibility for his actions! Get out of that church!

@@tammycaskey6990 Even if someone's repentance is genuine, it has nothing to do with attaining or keeping a job, or position . It just has to do with someone's salvation. It certainly doesn't mean people don't have to face the consequences of their actions, or that they won't be accountable for potential crimes they may have committed . (as I write this response Morris has not been charged with a crime in this matter, or had civil judgement against him in this situation) I go to church, I ask for forgiveness of sin , but that doesn't mean I'm suited to a position in a church or anywhere else for that matter. I don't have a right in terms of a constitutional assurance to hold a position of leadership or employment in a Ministry (or anywhere else) on that basis.
Moreover, Morris didn't come forward and voluntarily repent of his actions in this situation. He was exposed to church elders by Ms Clemishire's parents at the congregation they attended at that time. Clemishire maintains that although they forgave Robert Morris as a person; They never gave him their blessing to return to Ministry. Morris has not been chraged with a crime in this situation. Neither Morris or Gateway Church have had a civil judgement against them in Clemishire's situation as I write this response.
@@tammycaskey6990 Again, Gateway is claiming they didn't know that Clemishire was a child at the time when she said her abuse began. (and continued) They made that claim in their second statement accepting the resignation of Robert Morris . Assuming their statement is accurate (second statement of June 2024); it infers that Morris was not entirely forthcoming with them at some point. Any job application I can recall filling out, lists that kind of behaviour as potential grounds for dismissal. Assuming Gateway's claims are accurate, then questioning why he was allowed to resign as opposed to being fired is reasonable. Through an elder's statement , Gateway has apologized to Ms Clemishire for what she endured, and they are not offering any moral defence of Robert Morris at this point. The Church as an entity has not had a civil judgement issued against them in Clemishire's situation as I write this response.

Another case of “men of God” abusing the doctrine of forgiveness to guilt and goad the victim into not reporting abuse to law enforcement in order to avoid accountability and legal justice. This has been happening for decades.
So, Robinson didn't know the details? How then, did Morrison repent and get reinstated in ministry. Poor management, poor theology, and he is culpable and complicit in the whole thing.
Cindy did not say the abuse started at age 12 when the original meeting took place. She was still under threat from Robert in 89. So the full extent of the abuse was not known until now when Cindy spoke out.
@@sierrawendell6759 Robison produced letters saying he was not at meetings between Morris and Clemishire's family. He (Robison) says he first discovered that information in recent media reports along with the rest of the public. He does say he knew Morris had a prior moral failing. (his wording) If Morris worked for Robison in a Ministry capacity after stepping away from preaching due to a stated "moral failing" ; then why didn't Robison make it a point to find out what this "moral failure" entailed? (if Morris was working for his Ministry at the time in question) Robison is not accused of abuse himself in this matter. He is not facing any charges in this situation, and has not had a civil judgement against him in this situation.

Is the bill extending the statute of limitations also going to be retroactive? And will the extension be that there is no longer a statute of limitations?
Serious question: why is this lady's message sounds like a shakedown? I absolutely don't question the trauma she had endured. But all these years later she decided she wants, basically, money. Why wait this long?! Her parents, back then, have they contacted the law? Why now? In her message, she doesn't speak of justice for what she went through, as in she'll go to the law. It reads more like a blackmail. Again, I absolutely don't excuse what this man did to her. I just try to figure out her messages.
She has not said she wants money now. She is fighting for new laws and statutes of limitations to help any CHILD regardless of when the abuse happened. Can't speak to your other questions concerning her parents, although I would like to know as well. I did hear that she was "blamed" for being "flirtatious" so much so that Debbie Morris felt to tell the victim "I forgive you", totally RIDICULOUS!!

One thing I am very passionate about Robert Morris. In 2005 rather trying to get her to sign a NDA he should have signed an agreement to stay 100% out of her life, to avoid all contact with her! He should totally 100% leave her alone and agree to have absolutely nothing to do with her! And then offer $200,000 rather than $50,000 which she wanted!(See Luke 19:1-10).
