Definitely. It was one of those flat wet rides where you can’t get any heat in the brakes. Hence the squeal. If you ever start mountain biking you will soon Come to realise it’s part and parcel of the sport 😁
Interesting, I will do this ride again! Have been around crimple valley area but not this path. There’s some good MTB trails out Killinghall way / outskirts of Hampshwaite and Ripley! Also what do you use to track your distance / speed on your bike?
Graham HGT there kind of hidden! So one is if you go to the end of the ripley cycle path, turn left to the bridge by the river in Killinghall and underneath is a path, follow that through the gate and the fields ( there’s one where you have to lift you bike over ) follow the path down into the field then veer left up to a track, if you turn right you can get into Hampshwaite via the river it comes out just by the church and bridge. Another good short cut is if you follow the path round past ripley castle through the woods you can then follow the road up to the top of clint bank, about 200 yards after the gate at the end of the path connecting holyhead bank I believe it’s called to ripley castle they’ve built a short cut cycle trail which takes you out further down Clint bank. There’s a good NYCC website with bridlways all on!
Who knew Harrogate had what look like amazing trails. Been from Harrogate you ever tried Sharphaw Hill, Embsay Crag over near Skipton I reckon you'd love em. Top stuff as always.
It's a nice little route, I moved back to the area a few months ago and had missed the localriding. I went down nidd gorge the other day, the council in their wisdom have mullered the good first downhill bit. It's all pea gravel now just a mess. Also Ive never known an area with so many miserable looking out farts, generally people say hi friendly enough. Then theirs the ski pole walking crew who just refuse to move utter c@@@@. I don't know the area that well, is there an off road route over to Stainburn forest? It doesn't have to be anything mega that road through beckwithshaw is long and boring!!!! great vid lads keep it up!!!
So happy you did this video mate I ride that exact rout all the time. Although I’m too scared to go over the roundabout on the bypass 😬😬😂😂. Hope you had fun mate
Nidd gorge is great, theres loads of routes down there but I'd recommend you try it during the dry months ( weeks) first to get a feel of it, the boardwalks and those roots can be like wet ice
Totally agree with your road bikers comments..too many knobbish car drivers out there..i am based in leeds but often have to do a fair bit of road work to get to the trails around the outskirts...my other hobby i ride a fast 1000cc honda fireblade motorbike and trust me its scarier on the push bike on the roads
It’s the reason I chose mtb over Road when I was thinking about getting into biking. Didn’t fancy been hit by a careless car driver. Glad I chose mountain biking 👊
@@TrailFinder let me know if you fancy a meet one sunday pal roundhay park will take you on a good route all way from there into leeds city centre mainly off road and taking in a fair few woods including best route down meanwood valley trail a bit off piste
Great route. Been looking to extend the Nidd further so this will do nicely. Getting an Edge 530 this week - do you plan routes beforehand and upload them and use it like a satnav?
@@TrailFinder I'd held off getting premium Strava, but hadn't realised it had a route planner. Tried it all today and it worked a treat. Thanks for the advice!
