Really glad to see you back Mike but sure understand about other responsibilities! :) I've been wanting to let you know that I really like the key fob I got from you!......and with those louvers, my keys have not overheated once! :) I am looking forward to watching those drag races this weekend and hope all goes well for you folks! All the best to you and Alli!
The play in your king pin bushings you demonstrated at the begining of the video, appears to to be radial (side-to-side), not axial (up-down) movement of the spindle on the king pin. The bushing's inside diameter control radial movement. Shims should be installed to allow .001"-.003" up & down movement. Bushings should be reamed to allow the king pin to be pushed into the bushing under light, finger pressure, with no side-side shake. If the king pin falls out of the bushing upon disassembly, you need new bushings. Installing shims too tightly will only mask the bushings looseness, not fix the problem and will also increase steering effort. Not finding fault, but I've replaced hundreds of king pins over the years as part of my business and I just wanted to offer my advice to keep you, and others, safe.
I appreciate that. I’ll most likely pull it apart and go through it after the event. I’ll replace the front pads at the same time. They’re old pads I had on a shelf. I’ve got a few NOS sets now I bought over the winter. Thank you 🙏🏼
