In 2017 Dan Kirouac and Rheuben Gannon, paddled the bottom section of The Wakami River. A short but beautiful distance of 55km, cascading down through the Boreal Forest into Horwood Lake. Hope you enjoy it.
luv that dagger katana... pricey but looks worth it for this type of river.. Watched this again a few months later and still amazed at the knowledge you have about the rivers and lakes around this Atlantic watershed. If your canoe paddling trips and Reubens kayaking in the northern woodlands don't inspire people to enjoy the Ontario outdoors then nothing will.
Ever consider doin the larder river canoe trip? Pretty sweet canoe trip , non operational provincial park great smallmouth pike and walleye fishing. Would make a awesome video
Cool. Did a portion of that this year between Opeepeesway and Rush on a loop. We ran that one set at 14:40, but portaged gear RL first. Didn't realize there was a RR trail too!
@@inseasonstudios I'm so happy to hear Peaks is just chillin, I can't believe some of the adventures he has been on with you, and I'm positive he loved every damn second of it! Extra pats for Peaks tonight. Cheers! - a fellow canoe tripper and his husky
Hi Dan. Thanks so much for posting this. This video is one of the only sources of info on the Wakami River that I can find online besides a trip report from 2003. I'm planning to try this route starting from Sultan and then heading up the Rush River to Rush Lake. Apparently, it might be tough work from Sultan down to Ridout Lake. Any reason why you didn't start at Sultan? Your video gives me a great idea of what to expect from the bridge to the confluence with the Opeepeesway which I ran two years ago. Any further information that you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I would strongly suggest a reliable whitewater canoe. I personally would not use a aluminum boat. This is not an easy trip. There's no portage trail at the lower end and the banks are high and rocky.
