The Spartan timetable is actually prototypical for the time, Beeching did a number on ManVic and so it looking empty is pretty realistic.

Honestly, as a brit, I'd say the borderline whacky timetable was very much accurate back then. Timetables were like that, because at the time, the few passengers still using most of these services were focused on peak times only. It's a charming route. What I've seen so far of Preston-Ormskirk-Blackpool gives me the same vibe.

As a non-gamer.... or at leas tone who only plays the ps5 a couple times year at most, could someone please tell me how we are supposed to remember how to make a train drive after months away from the game and forgetting the controls. I put the game on a few days ago and sat there with no idea how to make it go, hahaha. Surely the game should have an option to give a person hints after the initial practice.

17 minutes review and no mention that the buildings/houses have no lights at night! Unless there was no electricity in 1983 I don’t understand how something that really kills the inmersion it is not even mentioned. How can I enjoy a route seeing Leeds with a massive blackout?! If ambassadors etc don’t say anything dovetail will never fix this. It’s ok I only been waiting 6 years for this to be fixed

I'm from Huddersfield. It's one of my favorite routes in the game and there was a station at Cottingley between Leeds and Morley. Now it's been shut to be replaced by one at the White Rose Shopping Center.

It was one of the first routes I got when I first got TSW2 in 2020, being the route that is nearest to where I live (the Airedale line is my local line and that goes to Leeds). The thing that breaks it for me is the lack of NPCs, since late in TSW2's time, I remember more NPCs being around. Also there should be some Class 31 services as they ran Manchester - Hull services.

Will this run on TSW 4? As it’s listed as a TSW 2 add on Xbox store. I’m a little confused I’ve not bought the game yet but am considering it based on this route alone.

DTG increased prices to accommodate for the increased cost of living in the UK. IMO this route is aesthetically drab and unadventurous, so is the timetable.

Open the cab window on the Peak class 45 its LOUD the horn is poor yes but close to how they sounded, the engine noise is spot on and very loud like I remember them, these are Sulzer engines so they do make those noises. The Class 40 isn't quite right though should be way louder and more bass. the 47/4 on NTP has finally been upgraded with better sounds However the 47/8 in preserved condition on the WSR is disappointing with no real sounds on it, you thrash that and its not making any sound that matches a 47/8 working hard. The latest JT/DTG route The Blackpool Branches has an new and improved brake timing High intensity headlight and 3 liveries BR blue like NTP but with orange cantrail stripe names, Large Logo with names and Intercity Executive also names, These new locos can be used on this route NTP as well when bought on TSW4.

Despite me hating the motive power, and the sounds are absolutely terrible when increasing throttle it sounds like it’s priming up then just goes quiet, I did end up rating it 6/21 of the routes I own. I liked the routes scenery, the 47 has that odd 4 gear setup, but the commuter service is fun, overall it feels pretty empty, DTG just needs to pack the yards as you never get to use them anyways. I’ve noticed that almost every route it’s like DTG thinks trains only haul passengers or tankers, of course you will have center beams, boxcars, etc. but unless you choose to haul a point to point in scenario it is always tankers…

Wonderful review and your channell really helps me in choosing the DLCs! One question, is it realistic for trains in those times in the UK to not have an NRN module in the driver's cab? For example, both the Class 47 and 101 in this route have a very detailed cab modelled, but neither has a radio module with a telephone in the cab. Was it possible to drive the trains without it, would they be operable?

Aye, a local route to me. Honestly it’s great to see the contrast between the line in the 1980s, current day and what it’ll look like soon with the TRU. *Personally* I love this route. The rolling stock is a bit annoying to get used to, but when you get used to it it’s satisfying as heck 😅 Also just to add a quick point regarding Ravensthorpe: From what I’ve seen (and what I’ve ridden), Northern don’t infact call at Ravensthorpe on their main on and off peak services anymore. Weird how the company with ‘express’ in its name stops at all stations when a company that’s - well, not express - passes. 🤷‍♂️ Oh and Morley too: I don’t believe TPE’s nova 1 sets (Class 802 in other words) stop there either. I think the only ‘smallish’ station that took express services at one point is Batley with services to Hull, but I think that was in 2017 or 18.

I like this route tbh. I got it with tsw1 delux, got the freight dlc on sale last year, i play on ps4 and its the only real train sim on that console that i know of. I stayed on tsw2 until a week or 2 ago when i got the scotsman tsw4 edition. Since i saw these vids on this channel on those other tsw4 routes.

This is my local line so I was tempted to get TSW for it. Thankfully a modern version of the route came to TS Classic so I got that instead 😀. Still I do hope this version gets ported over to classic as well one day as I like the BR Blue era aesthetic.

Managed to pickup TSW 3 for $11.39AU. Some say that is dirt cheap, but I guess you get what you pay for when shopping for dirt.

Unfortunately I've been noticing the Blackpool North Branches to Ormskirk route, I've noticed the same thing too with the fields being absolutely empty and I've also noticed there's a football pitch too but its absolutely empty... And the distant scenery too being empty too. I've also noticed that there are blank fields too, no grass textures etc

I have this route when I first got into tsw due to getting the deluxe edition of tsw2020. Even though I perfer more modern routes, I do enjoy playing this route because of how challenging and different it is. I do enjoy playing the class 47 and this review was pretty good and fair as usual I am surprised that DTG have only made 2 br blue era routes. Perhaps BR Blue Era routes don't do well in the sales department or something

Oh and Dove tail made a mistake to not include Healey Mills yard as it was a few miles from Ravensthorpe on the line from Mirfield. Also they missed a trick not including the Calder Valley line as it's just as scenic

But trans pennie was never a busy route it was a secondary line so not alot of trains ran over it
