We use to think running in the cold was bad. No, if you nasal breath it's pretty decent. It was trauma in cold weather mouth breathing. Not any more. Thank you patrick for all you do. Amazing stuff.

I followed your advice to breath thru nose. It helped me a lot. Thank you so much.

Hi Patrick, I also think that being able to hold nose breathing at higher intensities might lead to - relatively - more fat oxidation relative to CHO. Would love to see a study of that

I can do really intense exercise while strictly nasal breathing and I'm still fat.

I've read that nasal breathing during exercise also floods your veins with nitric oxide.
@OxygenAdvantage
@OxygenAdvantage 3 месяца назад
We wouldn't use the term "floods your veins" @proudtobeautistic but nasal breathing increases nitric oxide in the blood. Nitric oxide is a bronchodilator and vasodilator meaning it helps lower blood pressure and increase the oxygen absorbing capacity of the lungs.

I can get into zone 5 cardio while strictly nasal breathing. You can build CO2 tolerance to an incredible extent. Even Patrick underestimates it.
@scoobtoober2975
@scoobtoober2975 5 месяцев назад
You have a gifted nasal passage. No way i can get past 3+ or so. I don't have a HR monitor but this is a good guess for me.
@psmtz
@psmtz 5 месяцев назад
@@scoobtoober2975 you can. Believe me, I do not have a great facial structure nor am I a good natural athlete. You just have to really impose the adaptation on yourself.

How did you train up to that point?
@psmtz
@psmtz 4 месяца назад
@@CheyenneChild- it's all about belief: invert your understanding of carbon dioxide and oxygen, and start thinking of your endogenous CO2 as the most valuable substance in the world that you want to produce, accumulate, and never waste. Physically, don't be scared to trigger your chemorecptors, understanding -- and believing -- that you have a substantial supply of oxygen already in your blood, enough to hold your breath for several minutes and enough to sustain Zone 5 cardio for at least a minute or two -- probably longer -- but you need the CO2 tolerance to access it.

Mr. Patrick, can you do a demonstration of nasal breathing while you doing some exercise in your next video😊🙏
@thebodykeepsthescore2828
@thebodykeepsthescore2828 5 месяцев назад
You can do it yourself. Just nasal breathe whilst increasing your walking speed. Record it and watch. Build yourself up over the weeks to jogging/running. Simple
@drewgasm2793
@drewgasm2793 5 месяцев назад
I used to do it on my own, actually I do the nasal for 4 months straight right now and it's really beneficial for me, but for now I just want to see Mr. Patrick to do some nasal breathing while doing exercise on his next video, is that so hard to do? 😊😁✌️

@@thebodykeepsthescore2828Hey guys. What if someone is training boxing? How he should breathe? Other people are making sounds with air through mouth when punching. I am thinking if there is a better way of doing that but through the nose. What are your thoughts about it? :)

what about breathing while swimming?? is it in through the nose out through the mouth or in through the mouth in through the nose??
@OxygenAdvantage
@OxygenAdvantage 4 месяца назад
Swimming is the ONLY exercise where we advise MOUTH breathing @norbertgoulash5482. There are a number of reasons for this. 1. It is too easy to breathe water into the lungs if you nose breathe while swimming so mouth breathing is advised. 2. Swimming is very good for breathing already as regular dips under the water during swimming encourage breath holds which help us to improve our CO2 tolerance. In doing so, we improve our oxygenation in the blood and muscles (Bohr effect) improving efficiency. 3. The water acts as a constrictor on the breathing muscles, restricting the amount of air you can breathe in, stopping the swimmer from taking in huge gulps of air. While we always advise nose breathing as much as possible, when swimming, mouth breathing is the way to go. But make sure you return to nose breathing when you stop swimming.

What about training boxing? There is a lot of mouth breathing especially breathint out when punching. Is there a better way to do all of that through the nose?
@OxygenAdvantage
@OxygenAdvantage 4 месяца назад
As with most exercise @kolarz2128, we would say you can nose breathe through easy to moderate exercise without much issue. It's when exercise get's intensive that some mouth breathing may be required. The amount of nose breathing you can do during high intensity exercise will depend on your level of breathing training. Obviously, those with more experience will be able to do it for longer. Here is a short video on breathing to recover between rounds: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dFJxHaPoW-Y.html Here is a long form video on pre-fight breathing protocols with former professional MMA fighter Georgi Karakhanyan: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rIVLfnmhJgs.html I hope that helps.

@@OxygenAdvantage thanks I will check these links soon. My main question was about breathing when punching. It gives power to the punches when done through the mouth with a sound like "tss" but to do that through the nose seem impossible, or to be a way to snize all of what's inside of nose on someone else xD I will check the links maybe there is something about it though
@OxygenAdvantage
@OxygenAdvantage 4 месяца назад
That is a very good question @@kolarz2128. I'll have to come back to you. It's very interesting. At intense levels of exercise we expect to see mouth breathing but I'll let you know what I can find on punching specifically and let you know.
@kolarz2128

@@OxygenAdvantage Yes because the pressure through the nose is not that easy to mantain as it is with a mouth. But who said that it is not possible (although it may seem like it is)? I was trying to do that, but it seems like the air breathen out through the nose in that way goes out of the lungs faster then with that "tsss" through the mouth, so you can save it for more punches. I would love to get a knowledge about this topic :) thanks for being interested. Please do let me know if you will find something. It may be that the only proper way with punching is only with a mouth but who knows. And I think that it is worth to mention that breathing in through the nose works always. That's not a problem at all, at least in my case.
