Dead Sun's plot smells like a big pile of human excrement, i can't believe anyone at Squanix could greenlight it. Thankfully that abomination never saw the light of day.
Sounds like the devs wanted to retcon most of the story for that cancelled game since they had none of the S tier creative writing skills of legendary, Amy Hennig.......glad that was cancelled......that story sympnosis was just as convoluted and missed the mark completely from the master storytelling of the original series.
I think anyone who takes on the series at this point is gonna have to go the reboot/"requel" route, because they're never going to be able to continue the story from where Defiance left off without the original creators and cast. I think, if anything, we'll see a remastered release of the original games just to test the water and if they sell enough there might be a reboot game down the line. That would be my guess.

I see we think alike. That would be a perfect way to give this franchise a fresh start. And there are already some striking similarities: - lore inspired by european folklore - morally gray characters - open world (original BO idea was for player to be able to clear dungeons in non-linear fashion) - protaginist with long white hair ;) Devs could even change roadsigns to Bat Form and Roach to Wolf-form when it comes to fast travel methods ;) But to be serious - I think games like TW3 / Elden Ring / AC Valhalla would be a good roadmap on how to proceed with the Blood Omen remake. Soul Reaver would need to be more in the style of "3D Metroidvania".
@@pavma7 if these sidequests would end with finding optional dungeons / abilities / items / hidden story arc / other vampires (I do not remember if in BO Vorador indeed was the last one), then sidequests would make sense. Depends on design and writing :)

Its mainly because Lok is so unique and its characters and writing is still unmatched even 20 years later, its insane that a modern AAA Game these days still has less good writing than time traveling vampires 20 years ago.
The SR1 decomp project seems promising. The Legend of Zelda OOT and Jack and Daxter Decomp projects have led to some really good ports and opened up huge potential for modding. The OOT port recently got custom texture and model support.
I actually got Sain'ts Row because of the LoK aquisition. I thought "Well let's take a look and see what they're producing." I was not impressed. Most expensive paper weight I ever bought.
That would have been a good plot for dead sun to have explored, so they could have ignored most of the "convoluted story", without retconing it out of existence

"Let's scrap 60% of the series content and set the story a thousand years in the future with the existing lore being vague set dressing to an unrelated world and story." How does someone with this sort of mindset get to the position they were in? Once I was disappointed that Dead Suns was cancelled when the vertical slice showed so much potential. Now I'm reminded that "There are fates worse than death".
The most perplexing thing to me is that Sam Barlow (Dead Sun's director) has proven himself to be a very talented individual when he became an indie developer. I guess some people are better off making their own games rather than work on pre-established IPs.
Yeah... We want lore to dig through. Timey-wimey shenanigans, betrayals, twists and turns! I dislike the idea of catering to the lowest common denominator, and destroying the poetry of the originals.
Dark Prophecy should have been made, a game that answers just enough questions, finishes plot threads, and potentially opens up for more games in the future with some build ups.
From what I know, Ritual Entertainment were not exactly the right people for the job. LOK is akin to gothic poetry, they wanted it to bring rock´n´roll into it.
I hope they will do something soon. I will be 35 this year and if my male ancestors' lifespans are anything to go by, i am going downhill already- so i would like to see some conclusions to these stories, preferably before i see Underworld myself...

Because in some videos the host is Raina 😅 but both of them are cool and the way they explain things are great. I'm glad there is still such channels who cares about this game

This all hinges whether they have the original recordings in high quality. If not (which is very likely), it will have to be re-recorded from scratch. Old recordings may work in a remaster, but not a remake.
Oh come on ! SCREW that 'MY SYSTEM' mentality !!! Make it available to EVERYONE. First of all, what's the ducking point of trying to be the only one to enjoy a game, just because you happen to own a specific system, but not another one ??? Second of all, the more people get to enjoy that game, the more probable it is that a sequel or a remake will be made. And we all know how desperately this series needs at least one new entry.

He would have to a remake of SR1 & SR2 & défiance with 3 disk, like they are currently doing for FFVII. People knew and loved Raziel in soul reaver. It's the best way to bring the game back. I think coming back with a remake of Blood omen would be a bad idea.
You cant have soul reaver without having blood omen setups the entire series of events that unfold in legacy of kain it’s why the last game in the series you play as both protagonist and anti hero of the story while kain is the antagonist of the first soul reaver game he is not the main villain
