This is nothing short of incredible. I'm floored! The songwriting shines through the progressive madness brightly, and the production is immaculate. I can't stop listening on repeat, and I can't wait for more!
Opus made me dance, feel emotional, laugh out loud (earwyrm is the culprit) and, generally speaking, surpised me an indefinite amount of times. I am sharing it as much as possible, even though I don't personally know many people into prog music: I almost missed this release, even though I dedicate all my free time to browsing for new music (and playing drums), what a shame it would have been. Music can be many thing, but in this case it's a testament to human creativity.
Not often but sometimes the Spotify algorithm hits the bull's eye and serves me new music right up my alley. This album is an instant contender to the album of the year. Prog-metal with lots of creativity, good melodies, great musicianship and fantastic vocals! As I am getting older I am sadly not blown away by new music as often as before. So this album lifted my sprits. I can still be blown away by new music, it just has to be really good :)
Well said. I'm in the same boat, as I'm getting older I find it harder and harder to get excited by something new so it's refreshing when something comes along that captures my attention. Well done NoSpun!
I don’t care “who it sounds like”. To me, it’s just what I need in my music. Yes I’m a huge Haken fan (and others) but now I’m a Nospun fan too. Catch my drift? It’s fantastic.
My 13-year-old son has been talking about this new band called Nospun for about a week. "Have you listened to them yet, Dad?" I'm continually asked. Today, I finally did, and....WOW. Absolutely blown away. Epic stuff! Problem is, you guys now have to top that...And I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to offer!!
Best prog record I've heard in what must be years. Some of the melodies are unreal here, no track is underwhelming or feels out of place which is insane for a 70 min album. Been playing it on repeat for the better part of two weeks now. You know prime Haken, Wilderun, Symphony X? This is up there, right off the bat. Please make another one!
I have no idea how you all did it but over all the years I've been passionate about music this has very quickly skyrocketed to my favorite album of all time. Can't wait to hear more from you guys.
As a fan of progressive metal (Symphony X, Dream theater, Vanden Plas, etc...) I can say Nospūn did an exceptional job! What a good creativity! Go on guys!
As an amateur singer, I have to command Phil's singing on this debut! The range of clean vocals is already pretty cool, but the expresiveness you can wring out of those vocal cords is awesome! Love the range of emotions on display here.
Someone suggested this as a fan of Haken, and while I was a little sceptical (comparing a band to Haken is a big thing in my mind) but wow, I was blown away by this album! The comparison to Haken is apt (heck the last track on here could be part of the 22 minute long masterpiece that is the song Visions) but at the same time, there is definitely a unique and fresh sound here. It will take many MANY listens to truly appreciate this, I feel...
Wow... I'm always searching Reddit for good prog-metal recommendations and found this... I'm mesmerized... This is going to be on repeat for a long time. What a debut, holy shit!
I cannot believe this is the first time im hearing this album. A year too late but i showed this to all my friends and they were awe stricken how good it is. All the melodies and the atmoshpheric parts just hit right. The Acoustic parts are so original in my opinion its unreal. I would label you guys as Dream Theater meets Opeth and they met with Haken and Devin Townsend came along. They say "you caught a lightning in a bottle" and with this one you definately did. Look forward to hearing what you guys have in store for us in the future > :D
God DAMN this is some good stuff. I am so hooked after one listen. Consider me a huge fan already. I can not put into words how damn amazing this stuff is. The vocals are absolutely fantastic.
This is so perfect! All songs are great, no exceptions. A roller-coaster of emotions. It surpassed Noveria (aequilibrium) as the best prog album I ve ever heard. Thanks, Nospun.
This is the best debut I’ve heard since Native Construct. You can really hear the DT, Haken, SX, Pink Floyd, etc. influences, but you do such a great job of making them into your own sound. Amazing work. I’ve had this on repeat for weeks and can’t wait to see where you guys go!
I assume you mean DT to stand for Dream Theater, which is very apt, but it could also be Devin Townsend. Absolutely stunning combination of sounds coming out of this band!
1 month after discovering this album I became completely sure that this is now my favourite album of all. I want more Nospun releases sooo much, thanks for your art! UPD. All the same after 11 months :)
Highly recommend for any fans of Dream Theater, Symphony X, Shadow Gallery, and other prog metal bands. This is fantastic stuff! Highlights: Implosion Overture, Earwyrm, Within the Realm of Possibility
Okay so this was given to me as a youtube rec, and when I was going through Implosion Overture like semi in the background, I felt maybe this was a bit... TOO weird for me maybe. A little too far on the side of experimentalism vs listenability, y'know? Like, it happens, everyone's at different parts of that scale and that journey. Then Dance with Me pulled me right the fuck back in and Earwyrm knocked my FUCKING TEETH OUT and it was just bliss all the way down and out. I need to give this thing a real, *PROPER* listen later at some 'make out all the details' kinda volumes 'cus holy FUCK the algorithm actually served me some gold here. This is absolutely incredible, y'all are something special as hell and you might wind up being one of my favourite finds for the whole year, I haven't been this impressed by the creativity of an album since I first heard Native Construct. And it was released 10 days after my birthday? You shouldn't have. I'm sorry it took me so long to get to it /j
This band is definitely more reminiscent of Dream Theater than anything I've ever heard before. I stopped being a fan of Dream Theater after Mike Portnoy left (like many others), and never found myself getting back into them. This album reminds me of what they could've been if they didn't lose their way and continued to evolve their sound. I actually prefer the production to a lot of Dream Theater albums. The bass has much better presence (without overpowering anything), and the drums have a more full sound in the lower register (which is no surprise, given that Portnoy was notorious for having a clicky bass drum tone typical of metal). The overall mix feels more balanced than Dream Theater's as well.... it's easy to hear everything clearly, which I can't say about any of DT's records (sorry). There are many essays on the internet about how DT never mixed their bass loud enough, which always pissed me off because Myung's a fantastic player and actually played some really fun parts. I also like the vocals more than Labrie's, mostly because of the timbre. Labrie obviously had incredible range that was matched by few metal singers, but I just never liked the sound of his voice much (and I know I'm not alone). On the other hand, Phillip's voice has a really nice timbre (which sounds FANTASTIC with the harmonies), and I can't really think of anyone he sounds like (which is a good thing). So yea.... killer album overall. Very happy the RU-vid algorithms brought this one up for me! By the way.... that section of '4D Printing' starting at 40:27 has GOT to be a nod to 'Nightmare to Remember' by Dream Theater.... right?!
after i hear this album, i had the same feeling when i hear dream theater for the first time 18 years ago. and now it happen again. i felt like found a treasure. thanks guys for exist and making this incredible music. now i hope, i can live longer for waiting this band making a journey of music.
I haven't felt so captivated with an album in a long time, I just became your biggest fan ♥ haha this is amazing, really, goosebumps all the way through.😍🔥🔥🔥🔥
This album is nothing short of incredible guys. I haven't been this blown away by a Progressive Metal debut in quite awhile. You can hear the heart and soul that was poured into this record. I hope people take notice of this because it deserves to be heard by anyone who is a fan of the genre. Kudos gentlemen.
Hello I subscribe, You are an Artiste, really good Musician Good ambiences, Thanks to Be, continue on your Vib, Excelent🤘😎🤘 The calm for before Shadow of Intent or Cannibal Corpse
Really good and exciting album throughout, and I can't wait to see what comes next. I'm especially in love with The House at the Beginning. Just a beautiful ending
If Haken and Dream Theater inspired me to make my own Prog music, I feel like you guys are the band to finally **make** me actually do it instead of just "want" to do it. I hope you consider that as big of a compliment as I'm trying to make it come off as. Idk I'm tired and at the end of my shift lol
I can't believe that this is a debut album! The amazing musicianship and songwriting are beyond that of any number of veteran bands. I haven't been this impressed by a new band in quite a few years. I can't wait to hear what's next from these guys.
Incredible! Whole album is a masterpiece. I literally can't stop playing it, it's my favourite album of the moment, and is quite possibly the best sounding recorded music experience in decades. The last time I was absolutely blown away was 27 years ago, when I've heard Images and Words for the first time. Now it's happened again.
this album is really amazing, been listening to it over and over recently. I just want to say I love the transition from Implosion Overture to The Death of Simpson, it is so cool how you use that 7 note arpeggio (i think I'm using that word right lol) as a big conclusion to Implosion Overture and then turn around and give it a completely different feel at the beginning of the next song. Might be my favorite part of the album if it weren't for that dialogue in the middle of Within the Realm of Possibility. Good shit all around, can't wait to hear more from you guys. Also that album cover is sick as fuck. Good god this album is a masterpiece.
My friend just sent me this Ive had Coma Ecliptic by BTBAM on for about a month solid and been trying to find something to pull me away from it. Damn this album is fucking insane. The Death of Simpson had me headbanging away within seconds. Come tour the UK pls, Liverpool specifically haha!
Totally prog fan, I wouldn't make any comparison. You master your subject. this "opus" is an incredible work. Thx for this masterpiece. Plz continue ! Cheers from Belgium ;-)
Half way between Dream Theater and Opeth! Amazing sound, great progressive! I really wish a 5.1 or a Dolby Atmos hard support version because in this way, only, one is able to appreciate the Nospūn’s sound! Evocative, rich, powerful!!! The great progressive rock has a new star!!!
I'm hooked, awesome debut (I found out it was your debut because I had to check while first listening to this jewel...I simply had to have more from this band). Outstanding!
Dear Lord. The prog is strong in you guys. It scratches some many hitches at once, it goes some many places. Congratulations and thank you for the efffort.
I have almost finished listening to the album for the first time and I can already say this is a masterpiece. Really amazing work. Varied, rich, melodic and punchy, great sound, excellent singer... This is going to require many more spins to grasp all the depth of the work and talent on display here. Thank you!
After listening a lot more I think my favorite song is Within the Realm of Possibility. I love the concept and the conversation bit in the middle is so much fun
This is an INCREDIBLE album! The way it tells an emotional story reminds me a little of Ayereon (The Human Equation). Excellent musicianship and composition. I've been listening to the whole thing on loop for a few weeks now. I'll be savoring this for sure, and keeping a keen eye out for anything new in the coming years!
If you'd like to share any notable experiences or challenges behind of the scenes of this masterwork, I'm sure many would enjoy reading any thoughts you had. Unbelievably good stuff. Reminds me of Scenes ;)
Prog-Rock @ it's finest. IMHO The Masterpiece of the last decades, okay, besides DT, HKN, CHorse... This Ouevre is worth its name, and I would add another word to it: MAGNUM OPUS - linking to Kansas. If you ever visit Bavaria for gigs, I manage some clubs 4 U, this is graved in wood in the void of the Woidmen... THX so much
@@Oxmodius19 lol same! Stricken down in cold-blooded murder With not a clue of who’s to blame I blinked my eyes and my world was shattered Was it my destiny to see the death of Simpson
I was watching a podcast with Angra's bassist Felipe Andreoli, and the interviewer mentioned this album as the best metal release of 2023. I am flabbergasted... What a masterpiece!
@@ColeMillward his podcast is called "Ibagenscast" and that's the episode: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4SmUgj8KZMw.html I won't remember the minute the interviewer mentioned it though 🤦♂and the conversation is in Portuguese.
This is the best prog metal I've heard in a decade. As a fan of DT and early Haken this is gold for me. Keep up the good work and I'll follow your next release with great interest! Cheers!
Visions is (by far) my favorite album of all time. Needless to say that my feeling toward this album are very strong very fast. Sending love from the bleeding Israel
