In this conversation I discussed Nostr and open protocols with my friend David N who has built products at big tech for many years. Specifically he worked on core communication tools at Google (Gmail), Facebook/Meta, and Apple.
It was fun to hear about some of the the cultural beliefs at big tech around open versus closed, his rigorous focus on user value props when trying to decide what he believes about Nostr, and how some of what he saw on the Gmail team hints at one of the best reasons to be optimistic about the possibilities of Nostr.
I hope you enjoy our conversation!

Rose commentary: Sooo....we covered a lot tonight. Some of my favorite things covered were how Google and Gmail was formed in the early 2000. New comers don't realize how new this technology is. I thought it was funny when David's guest on this show started to discuss how "hard" it use to be to hack into a Gmail account. Discussion around lightning and payments was intriguing for me. Looking forward to learning more of this new genre and lingo and moving away from crumping and rap swag. More intelligent and lady like. :) 💘 I noticed you were cut off from name dropping, I suppose "a entrepreneur", I won't name any names to be respectful, since that's what he wants, but yes, I did notice that. A lot of mentions of Elon Musk and users following over was an obvious curiosity I think that was a good thing to talk about to bring in interest of your show. Good job. Till tomorrow... demonic

1:17:46 so youre going to blame bitcoin for the entire nation of argentina not adopting it? It sounds like their loss to me, literally the entire country could have bought a fraction of the supply and become rich in the past 15 years. that is a failure of argentina not a failure of bitcoin. bitcoin doesnt fix stupid

There's still plenty of time for everyone to decide to use bitcoin whenever they find it valuable. I don't think anyone's blaming bitcoin for anything. 🤷‍♂️
