I'd like to point out that blue tried to do something other than Totsugeki to try an get an advantage, and lost as a direct result. The moral of the story is always Totsugeki, never stop Totsugeki, remove all other buttons, you only need Totsugeki.
i have a lot of anxiety & neurological disability in my maybrain but if u can heal that stuff away maybe i can make room for u… we can be headmates like those D.I.D. people do
_"The year is 20MM, everyone has switched to playing May. Matches are now determined by hardware priority and who lives closer to the game's host server."_
A funnier note is that the guy who lost didn’t dolphin hard enough... I can just imagine him sitting there going” maybe I should try something different” then loses and says” I was wrong to betray my feelings dolphin ,for that, I am sorry”
It's funny how when playing fighting games as children, we instinctively understand that spamming the same attack is in bad taste; then, as we grow up, we learn what 'meta' and 'competitive modes' are, and we totally throw that knowledge out the window.
RU-vid recomended me this. I love how me, a guy who has barelly ever touched a fighting game, can understand how that yellow girl MASTERFULLY rode her dolphin to victory
Meanwhile Venom players are finishing their degree in applied physics and replacing their arms with prosthetics just to play him. Thank you ArcSys, very cool.
@@hurricaneb6243 Also misinputs. That feel when you go to pull out your dolphin, but mess up and accidentally use a different attack is horrible. Granted, this weakness can be somewhat remedied by simply using dolphin more, build up that muscle memory, but, even Olympians make mistakes.
As someone who is learning Japanese, "totsugeki!" no longer sounds like a word by 10 seconds, and by 20 seconds my brain isn't even recognizing it as a human voice anymore.
player one shoots gun. player two shoots gun. bullets collide in mid air. player one "dammit!" player two "dammit!" both players reload. player one shoots gun. player two shoots gun. bullets collide in mid air. player one "dammit!" player two "dammit!" both players reload.....
I don't even play fighting games, but the title alone made me go: "They're gonna near flawlessly copy eachother by spamming the same move, aren't they?"
Semi-related: I once played a Christie mirror in doa5. Went for a neutral punch opener, but the opponent did the same thing. We both 200 iq'd thinking "there's no way they expect me to do the same thing twice in a row." Well, twice became thrice, and we ended up tieing the round with a double ko, just mashing neutral punch the the whole damn time. They were just a random player, so it's not like we knew eachothers playstyle, either! XD
@Ghost Troupe There are so many ways to deal with Dolphins... fast Dolphin is -7 on block... you can get a freight train in that gap. Slow Dolphin you an jump, jab her out of it. I think you can even throw... dolphins should not be an issue anymore lol
I freaking love GGS but, as a “Mayn” from back from the GGAC days, it is pretty disappointing how limited May’s move-set has become. She’s always been a gorilla, but at least there was enough versatility in her move-set that there was some variety in play-style. Now you basically just see players taking two approaches: the “spray and pray” (with sloppy neutrals) or the “dolphin or die.”
May in strive suffers from having literally no defenses: Chipp levels of durability. Literally only one "get off me" tool that costs tension Bad neutral game Horrendous keep-away Only one or two options to fight against airborne enemies(rip you if your play against a milia main.) Basically she's only good if the enemy is grounded and she's allowed to keep attacking them. But if the enemy knows how to play against the dolphin spam, you're pretty much dead unless you're able to turn it around with a burst or overdrive.
its not even the deleting of half her kit, its more about the type of game strive is. Its severely limited and dumbed down so something thats been in all games for 30 years is suddenly OP and ridiculous. In any other game its a part of her neutral, but there was more going on that it wasn't the only thing on screen or even the most optimal at all times. Stuff like Sol's 5k being suddenly this god button is only because of strive, cause in any other game it was good but it wasnt so insanely good. its properties are no different than any other gg, but in strive its godly
I recently started to play GG, and I wanted to play May, i didn't know anything about the game so I literally just did basic combos and totsugeki spam when I was in "head hurts, no thinking" state. I thought I was just being bad and winning by luck. Then i saw some actual May gameplay. Now I can say that I'm a Pro at this game.
Okay but most of the time I also see May players just throwing out random normals because they're so disjointed and fast that there's no risk whatsoever. I fought a May who had the badge for like over a thousand wins who didn't even do combos, pressure or footsies, just moved around in completely random ways swinging the anchor around all match.
"Look at what you've done ArcSystem Works, look at what you've done. This is what you've done ArcSystem Works, this is what you're doing to your audience. This is a direct by-product of these characters acting the way they do. They've lost so many options that they have to focus on the one thing which is the dolphin. It is causing extreme trauma. Extreme trauma." --"Man Loses it Over Dolphins," Maximilian Dood.
I played from the original guilty gear through gxx heavily, and I really enjoyed how deep May could be played especially in gxx if her alternative moveset was chosen. If seems much is different now.
My friend and I did this once years and years ago when playing some Naruto fighting game on his GameCube. We were both Naruto, and we both did the same opening combo 3 times in a row before someone finally decided to break the chain. Feels good
"& here we see the May players fighting for dominance & superiority with their Dolphins, it would seem that they are partially committing to their neutral some buttons have been thrown... Oh! & it seems the yellow Bootyied May has taken to constantl barraging their foe with the Dolphins there's seems to be no hope the Blue Tiddied May & it appears they have been sent flying at mach 5 thru the magic wall common in these environments such savagery but such is the struggle for power in the wild of rollback"
