I never realise just how many pseudo/proto Valerian houses there are until you put them all together like that. I am fascinated by House Dayne and I do not understand any of it!!

Daynes are such a great weird house! Also, there are 2 other houses I think they were not first men, but I will give them a video at some point.

Interesting to think that the likes of the Hightowers and Daynes may be descendant from the Dragonlords from the Great Empire of the Dawn. And the fact the Valyrian's ancestors likely also came from this place says a lot..

I agree about the hair. In GRRM's world, Hair Color = Team Helmet/Team Color, like in American Football. Many characters try to hide their hair/identity, from Egg to Sansa, but it always reveals the "true lineage" in the end. The conspicuous lack of hair on Varys even reveals his lack of fixed identity, as well. Any sword and/or cat, and/or sword-wielding cat vids would be awesome, as well. LML Livestream later today at 6pm EST. Hope to see you there! Cheers & Tschuss!

Hey there again. Got through this one today and I’m not sure whether to disagree with you or not lol. Having Houses like Hightower, Massey, and Tarth be Great Empire connected without being First Men is a brand new take for sure. I actually like the idea of the First Men, the Valyrians, and this new Group all being connected to the Great Empire with the Andals and most of the current Essosi (whom you notice are never given a unifying Ethnicity) being connected to the Ghiscari. It would be a great Allegory of how the Wheel keeps turning and we think the Players of the Game change but they are still there just in new forms. Neat idea…

@CompanyOfTheCat i had a thought. What would you think about the Iron throne having magical properties? Along the lines of valyrian steel. I know the throne is NOT Valerian steel, but the throne was forged with dragon fire and so much blood was a spilled in the process of collecting the swords. I know they say the throne will cut people that don't belong on it and it's suppose to be a metaphor. But what if its not a metaphor.
@CompanyOfTheCat
@CompanyOfTheCat 4 месяца назад
Tbh, the throne is a quite wtf part of the story for me too. Yes, there is a lot of metaphorical and symbolical stuff going on, and it doesn't look like valyrian steel, but some of the blades do act like Valyrian steel, they do not rust, still very sharp and stuff. I am waiting more for this tbh, bc I think something might be oof as well.
@Guinnessdrnkr1234
@Guinnessdrnkr1234 3 месяца назад
@@CompanyOfTheCat I was listening to fire and blood again. What do you think about the Iron Throne being just magical enough to curse a person? Maybe it cursed people by cutting them. Like Meagor and Aerys, Viserys,, even Rheneyra.

Just maid sounds a lot like the last hero story and dawn just updated with an andal spin. The hero is now a knight. Instead of killing his wife the maiden couldnt be with him. Theme of 3 with the tempering. Sword makes u super strong. An element of honor to using it.

@CompanyOfTheCat it's fun but maddening trying to figure out which elements we should look at more closely or as fact and which we should disregard. Plus how all these houses are connected. The mountains of morne by the five forts is suspicious as well.
@CompanyOfTheCat
@CompanyOfTheCat 4 месяца назад
@@christianedwards6364 I think that many things are there to draw the parallels but are not necessarily connected. Kinda how we have many similarities between characters in the current timeline but are not the same person or connected exactly. If someone asks for example 10 people around the universe who is Azor Ahai we will get different answers. Mel says Stannis, the Volantene say Dany, and smallfolk tell stories about Beric that if someone in the future listens to them easily could say "Oh, he was Azor Ahai", I think similar things happened in the previous Long Night thus the stories are everywhere with common stuff, but it also don't make that much sense to be for the same person or area.

if you trace a staight line as the crow flies from the most southern part of Assahi to Westerios, it would pass through the Valyerian freehold.

But wait if Elissa didn't reach Asshai who's ship did Corlys Velaryon see? Didn't he say it "Couldn't have been anything other than Sunchaser"? I personally believe Elissa did reach Asshai by going west, briefly exploring a new Landmass/very far Eastern Essos.

Through the summer islands probably, they switched direction after something like they others did. If martin says no one has crossed it, them I believe him tbh.

@henrikfitch4017 Год назад
@@CompanyOfTheCat That's really odd then. Seems a bit weird for him to include the bit about Sunchaser being in Asshai if not as proof that she reached the East. But I guess if he explicitly stated that *no one* crossed the Ocean, then she didn't.
@CompanyOfTheCat
@CompanyOfTheCat Год назад
@@henrikfitch4017 It's not about sun chaser explicitly. It's the part that I included in the video, that is from the citadel in his answers about Asshai. His quote was this "No one has ever crossed the Sunset Sea to learn what lies on the other side."

When it comes to Dawn, what does “worthy” mean? What are the parameters? Honor? Skills in battle?
@CompanyOfTheCat
@CompanyOfTheCat 6 месяцев назад
I am guessing kind of both, but being honorable and moral more that skilled, mostly because (and correct me if I am wrong, I am not 100% sure), Dawn boosts your skills any way. GRRM had said that Arthur Dayne would beat Barristan with dawn, but without who knows, or a tie, or something, when asked who would have won in a fight between the two.

company how can you read this at 0:15 and come to this conclusion the context is on trade and modern westeros it feels incredibly dishonest to me to ignore that context around the question
@CompanyOfTheCat
@CompanyOfTheCat 5 месяцев назад
Ι will answer pretty much the same things I said to another person who also said it is out of context. Looking at the whole conversation and how he answered, it is not out of context, imo. When someone is asked about trade, and the answer is "No, they do not use this route, because no one has crossed it to know what is going on", etc, it means exactly that, that they have zero idea what is going on. Them not knowing anything about it, means that full-on migrations happening from there is very very VERY improbable because people haven't crossed it. They would have more cohesive myths, stories, anything really, but they don't. We also do not have individuals who confirmed they reached it, the closest is Elissa's story, but it is still so vague that doesn't prove anything. We do not know what happened in the meantime, how do we know they didn't change direction? Considering that in this same quote, GRRM says the classic routes from west to east and *other facts about Planetos like its shape*, I think is anything but out of context. People passing is possible in theory, that is a fact, people have already passed it in the thousands like it is happening in migrations is not a fact and looks very improbable with the info we have. Even with Elissa, it is not confirmed, we do not know anything, it is only a speculation., and considering this video is talking about migrations, I stand by the fact that it looks very much unsupported to say that whole ethnic groups came from there, when even in their myths things contradict each other. Is there any trade between Westeros and Asshai over the Sunset Sea, or are those uncharted waters? Over the =Sunset= Sea? No. *No one has ever crossed the Sunset Sea to learn what lies on the other side*. The question was about trading routes, but the answer was very much general. It is even added as a piece of information by the moderators, who are the same people as in the citadel, in Wikia.
