Mark Gray If that really is only 9 inches high, I still wouldn't fit no matter how much weight I lost. I have a big chest & my ribcage is just under 11 inches from front to back.
Watching this I keep thinking about that guy, John Jones who got stuck and died in nutty putty cave... I can't imagine dying in such a way... I wouldn't mind trying spelunking, but not in such tiny spaces where you obviously can get stuck..
Alana GeeGeeGeeGeeGeee haha, it’s really not that bad! Once you realize that if you start to feel stuck, all you have to do is back up and try a different path or position!
RyanVideos i should try learning someday. I live in ky and we’ve got so many caves. And fun hiking. I got it on my bucket list lol I just gotta find ppl to go with me
We have an unexplored cavern in S.Montana which branches off from my friend's mine. It sits intop a pair of ancient fault lines which must be waterways, pulling debris away. The terrain would not make sense otherwise. I am convinced there's a river there chocked full of black sand and gold. Need experienced cavers asap.
@@thewizard2465 I took a trip up there but didn't find the cavern because the owner gave me bad directions or maybe I just wasn't good at finding it. I hit my head so I decided to leave it for another time and recuperate from the injury. It's a very extensive mine and there's not a lot of oxygen down in there so next time I go I'm going to bring ducting in order to force outside air down into the bottom of the mine with a fan on the outside
ok thats a shame bro, hope you head is ok! if its not to much hassle could you keep us updated? i hope there is a shit load of gold down there for you! take care and stay safe.
No, what you need is a 1.5 meter diameter boring machine and drill a tunnel through the tight crack. No need to squeeze yourself to death for a couple of pounds of gold.
Not even claustrophobic, but this is probably one of my new fears, imagine doing that and you get stuck, im straight watching these to see how anxious i can get before having a freaking stroke
In sixth grade me and my class had to go through a claustrophobic cave in a residential trip. The squeeze part of the cave was about 6-7 inches and i could barely breathe, even when i went to the breathing hole near the exit but after that it was all fine
RyanVideos I recently went caving and I absolutely love it. There’s nothing more peaceful than everyone turning off their headlamp, being quiet, and taking it all in.
@@rosej4346 seriously? If you want a peaceful death wish, just ride a litre superbike at 190MPH with your eyez closed while listening to Ariana Grande.
We have a place near where I live, called Devils Hop Yard, it has old Indian cave openings. I remember as a kid, my dad tried to convince me to crawl in one of the openings, to “find cool stuff”. I took a stab at it, felt myself getting stuck and wondered two things.... 1- how the heck did a full grown adult even get in and out? 2- is my father just trying to get rid of me, and hoped I’d crawl in so he could leave me. Either way I was all set, and think of that day 45 plus years ago when watching these videos.
Been caving for more than 20 years and I love tight spots like this. The best discoveries are made just when others have given up. Yeah it's not an activity for everyone.
Imagine its war outside and somehow you are forced to go through this cave, and while crawling you hear bombs going off upstairs not knowing if you're gonna get crushed.
Ok so I just found some logic in caving so never be in the middle of three people or the front. Hers why. So if your in the front you won’t know if it is too small or not and if the person behind you get stuck no way back. If your in the middle you can’t go back. And if your in the back you can go back and see if it is to small
Agree my thoughts exactly! Stay in the back. Better yet stay outside the cave. This makes me very very nervous and short of breath just watching. Go watch Nutty Putty birth canal, tightest cave crawl i have ever seen, oh and the "claustrophobic cave challeng" posted by Nuskish,, that was really hard to watch.
You guys still be checkin comments. Yes, you could shrink your chest cavity be breathing out to squeeze into a smaller area, but I wouldn’t try that out, because it would be more difficult to breath in because my chest would be restrained making it harder to expand. And so less oxygen could be taken in, It would feel to me as I was suffocating, causing me to panic, making it probably worse. Now I don’t be spelunking, so I’m probably wrong about something.
@@Amiga-gq4xx yeah we still check the comments haha. And you don't need to breath out for prolonged periods of time in this cave. Really only for a foot or two at a time. Most of it leaves enough space to breath just fine. You just can't sit up or stand haha
Did you guys sneak into that area or what? I am a KY resident and have been throughout mammoth cave by traditional route, and I never knew there were people doing this sort of exploration. How long have you guys been doing this?
Hey! No, we didn’t sneak in. We signed up for the “Wild Cave Tour” through the National Park Service on recreation.gov there are only a few spots, so you have to sign up way in advance! I don’t do it very often, but I love doing it. This was my first time caving in Mammoth Cave specifically. Overall it was about a 6-7 hour tour. You get very intimate with the cave. It’s a group of about 12 people and two guides.
@@AceFootageThanks for the vid and the link! I believe I am going to have to find some time to go back to Mammoth Cave! I had no idea such tours existed at Mammoth Cave, and for only $60. What a bargain.
How do you get over the fear? Is there any conceivable way to know what’s ahead? Is there any preplanning or perhaps checking to see what other cave dwellers have encountered previously? Thanks.
This is a preplanned route, it’s part of a 6 hour tour, called the “Wild Cave Tour” at the Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky. There are many requirements that must be met to go on the tour, such as a restricted chest and hip circumference that limits the size of people that can participate. If you noticed the guy about halfway through the video, he was one of our guides. We were in good hands! And once you get going, you don’t really notice how small spaces are!
I understand it's a pre-planned route but say halfway through a boulder has fallen and blocked everything off. Would you all be dead or could you turn around or go backwards?
@@jerahmysmith2187 that's what happened to Floyd Collins in 1925 in part of this same cave. A 16 lb rock fell and trapped his leg on his way out.The next day he was found and they went for help. The story about him getting stuck and everything that happened while trying to get him out is CRAZY !!!! People came from miles away to watch, the onlookers brought and cooked food. They partied and got drunk on moonshine.. Look it up, i was like wow !!! Another caver John Jones got stuck too in a cave upside down in 2009.. The cave was called Nutty Putty..He went through an unknown space with no outlet and couldn't turn around or back up. His brother went for help. They closed the cave off and his body is still stuck in it , true story.
@@dimensionexo. No !!!! He was stuck for days. They would crawl down to him with food and water. So many people were coming and going through the cave it caused more of it to fall in around him. When they finally were able to dig enough to free him it was too late and he had died. Its a crazy story. They buried him in a coffin in the cave for people to tour and visit his body. THEN !!! His body was stolen and they found in the wounds. They then had another funeral and buried him again. I think they buried him like 4 different times. Look him up on RU-vid and learn all about it. Its crazy !!!!
Can you even begin to wrap yourself around what Jon Jones went threw in Nutty Putty cave? The story is so horrific . He ultimately died , but spent his last hours in complete torturous conditions.
but what happens if you reach a point where there's no going back and further alone you can't pass a tight squeeze, there lies my fear XD.....it has to be a cave where you can just head back the way you went in or no deal.
@@AceFootage what if someone cant pass through a small hole or tunnel and someone is behind them. WHAT DO YOU DO ?? because not everyone can get through some of these spaces and not everyone is small enough to do so. What then. I know you said this is preplanned but not all cave diving adventures are.
@@harrisn3693 these videos suffocate me but I watch them anyway and I've watched a many of the. Nutty Putty was one of the hardest to watch during the birth canal..I literally have to pause them at times and catch my breath and remind myself I'm not really there. Whoo weee, sigh..😯🥺
I get that it’s a different mindset you need to do it, but casually going “caving” is different to me casually taking a bike ride as in one wrong move for these guys could easily mean a slow suffering, lonely death where as even if I’m hit by a car for example and hell yeah it’s not a nice way to go but still id rather that 😅
Imagine you reach the end of that small tunnel and it’s just a dead end if that happens to me I would prolly shoot myself if I was stuck forever in a small cave
