@@Michaela_ZCI was going to write a comment about how Zac also makes a great foil for Brennan but ended up realizing that I could say the same thing about so many of the Dropouts. And I think that’s a big part of what I love about them-not only are they fantastic writers and performers individually, but they all work so well *together.*
@@Michaela_ZC "Emily is one of the best D&D players in the world. Endlessly creative, so fun to play with. She was also sent from Hell to kill me." -B.L. Mulligan
I think not only should Rekha have won for figuring out everybody SO fast but her table jokes were absolutely on point! "Ever have a one night stand with one night stand?" is an S tier joke 😁
she would have had a better chance of winning if she removed katie instead of brennan. sure brennan is very competitive but katie was her closest competition, and brennan wasn't guaranteed to figure it out. bad play lead to her downfall.
my favorite part of this game was ally trying to be as brennan-plausible as possible at the start before fully committing to making the real brennan mad instead
There's also only so many times they could do it before everyone would know each other's tells. I could see, if budget were no object, a sequel a couple seasons down the road, but that's about all they could do without making it less special.
@@Arkatox Ah, yeah that is fair. I was thinking for a show idea that it'd be five an episode (all Dropout cast, no random celebrities) and to just last the longest without being caught by a majority of your group (everyone gets one guess a round or something). Problem is like you said, group knows each other enough and it instead becomes who do they want to vote out first rather than an actual detective's game.
It's a shame these episodes are rated so low on IMDb (7.9 & 6.0 respectively, compared to the >8.8 of the rest of season 6). The first episode was especially hilarious and fresh. But I guess I can agree that Part 2 loses the momentum and novelty, and the fact that they don't even reveal Eric to the rest of the cast is a bizarre choice too. Still, a very fun season finale
I loved the entire cast, but every time it cut to Eric I just didn't laugh. He wasn't funny to me, and I also had no idea who he was until I looked it up. The fact that he was also solely picking the winners sucked, I don't know if it's the way it was edited, but the people chosen didn't reflect who was funniest etc to me. But I get that we as the audience saw way more to judge from than just the group chat, so maybe that made the difference? Also, Rekha should have gotten something for getting everyone right first regardless of winning. The lack of reveal at the end also really killed the momentum for me, like what happened there? Just a weird couple of eps despite the god tier concept
@@call-rickeyIt was actually said by Sam that he wanted the end table to only be the main cast, i suppose to make it more intimate? But it was intentional to not have Eric be revealed
@@langiit Personally I don't buy it. I get the vibe that either something happened that made them just not want Eric at the reveal or Eric didn't want to be there. It just makes zero sense from a production perspective to pay for a well respected comedy actor/writer to come on your show and not have him ever interact in person with any of the Dropout cast. All that being said, I think the episode itself gets too much hate because I was thoroughly entertained the entire time
@@nukeninmgt1504 It wasn't just the closer of the two episodes - it was the season finale. That roundtable was a celebration of a whole season of going above and beyond, so I get why Sam wanted it to be just them. And also, it's Game Changer... fucking with the cast and not having them know who the Ratfish was until they get to see the episodes is such a bit.
Zac is on a different level. I loved seeing how funny everyone thought he was, without knowing that it was him. I felt like Ally should’ve known just based on how funny they found Granma 😂
Tbf she set herself up for failure by not choosing to eliminate Katie who was her biggest competition. Later, Brennan, who got eliminated by Rekha, got revenge by doing his classic monologue bit to Katie therefore revealing himself. By the end of that round, Katie was able to correctly guess everyone
The fact that there are barely any Ratfish in this video, shows how badly they failed. If they ever do a game samer, hope they tweak it, maybe have multiple people handling that account so people are tricked.
They need to do it with the same premise but really it’s 1 person playing it normally and another person playing 8 other people while having a hidden cam on the one out of the know and fucking around with that 1 person
I think it's telling that the Ratfish themself doesn't feature in "favorite moments". By far the weakest part of the show, but it was elevated by the seven cast members having an amazing time together.
The reveal of the Ratfish in ep 1 did nothing for me cause I never watched Tim and Eric. My reaction was "who the hell is this". And then he wasn't funny. Loved everything else about the episodes
I did watch Tim and Eric (admittedly, because of a friend) and I still hadn't even realized it was that Eric until talking to another friend and finally looking up his name. lmao. It's never been my humor type, and it doesn't really feel like the humor type that fit the rest of the cast and this format either. But all the castmates were so on top of their game, and I loved seeing the love and admiration for all of their humor language!
He just wasn’t quite the fit for the show. A shame because I love Tim and Eric a ton, and their humour is just terrific, it just doesn’t quite gel in this format.
I’ve never really understood that kind of humor. It’s so high risk mid reward. Some people find it funny, but also some people find it super uncomfortable. Especially today when some of the biggest names in that style humor have gone off the deep end in being problematic.
It's just a problem that the game relies on knowing each others personalities and then they brought in someone who (i think?) never met any of them before. Someone like BDG or SungWon Cho, maybe even a McElroy brother, could've done great in that position since they all have a little overlap. It's the complete disconnect between the Tim and Eric fanbase and the Dropout fambase that made it fall flat.
Having never watched the Circle, I thought the "look super fucking hot walking down a hallway" bit in the trailer meant that this episode was gonna be a heist
I’m very much considering a Dropout subscription after this and all the shorts that they’ve posted. I just need more granma sweetie in my life And I need this to be a show not a one-off thing, please!
Dude do it. Their new season of Dimension 20 (their ttrpg series) is fucking amazing. Never Stop Blowing Up, check it out, it’s got more Rekha and Ally and Brennan is the DM. Zac is on other seasons of Dimension 20 and he is equally as funny and unhinged in his roleplay characters.
It's the most bang for buck I get out of any of my streaming services. Also Dropout is very password sharing-friendly so if you can't do $6/month you can always split it with a friend.
@@igotbeans recently got some shorts recommended from their D20 Questing Queens campaign and that sealed the deal for me. Waiting for my next paycheck and then having a very fun week watching every single thing I remember from every RU-vid short! Ooopoo very excited Do you recommend watching them on the website or using the app? I saw some comments about how one might be better than the other
I had this playing in the background and then I heard my name when they started talking about grandson Mason and the way I turned, around so fast I gave myself whiplash😂
@@riverr.659 if you’re saying he was playing a character, the character wasn’t a good fit. I agree, I do think he was playing a character. And in the same way that someone playing a goofy twerking character in a serious drama is a bad idea, it’s not generally a great idea to bring in disinterest and anti humor to a comedy show that’s primarily not that. And I’m fully prepared for this to not be Eric’s fault, but his part in the show sucked the air out of the entire episode.
@@riverr.659 He definitely could’ve been. Personally, I just got a weird vibe from the times we cut to his room and he was talking to the camera. If all of that was just playing a character for the camera, then he was playing an unlikable, boring character.
The moment Brennan started that whole monologue I thought "Please don't send this. That's such a Brennan response. They'll know immediately." And what do you know.
These episodes were on a different level. They constantly amaze! Dropout is and has always been the best money I have spent on entertainment every month for the past 5 years.
To me, the characters are hilarious but Eric as the Ratfish was really disappointing and kinda ruined the rest of the concept unfortunately. He wasn’t funny, didn’t reward who were clearly the funniest characters, and it messed with the pacing
Wow, won't even pretend to say that he didn't reward a more "worthy" favourite instead just going straight to funniest in a somehow objective sense. It's actually kind of refreshing.
I didn't care about who he rewarded what, that's personal taste, but it did make everything feel off. I think the concept can be iterated on and we'll get a better Ratfish episode somewhere down the line.
I loved the vibe of this show! Though it did kinda flounder towards the end... I feel like they shouldn't have had a celebrity guest, personally. Maybe someone from the office or another smaller online comedian that they know? Just to muddy the waters a bit? Still, I hope we get to see Ratfish again!!
I am amazed nobody in the dropout fandom knows Eric, he’s brilliant he just didn’t quite gel with this particular show. Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job is a show that shaped a TON of internet humour we see today, you won’t really find a lot of comedy RU-vidrs particularly from the early days who don’t list them as an influence.
