Hello Destin from Smarter Every Day, I hope you read this message here is a link of a video that explains the mechanisms not submarines like you made one it is cool too! (Sorry if it was too formal..)
I'm surprised by the huge discrepancy between the clear missionary goal of Not Forgotten and the complete lack of mention of it in this video. The massive banner on their website clearly states: "Not Forgotten seeks to introduce vulnerable children to the hope of Jesus Christ by providing holistic, individualized care in a healthy family environment.", and yet this is entirely omitted from this video. Since this is clearly a primary goal of this organization, going to such lengths to avoid even mentioning it is absolutely remarkable.
I love these updates. I am so happy they are thriving and expanding into new ventures. I wish them all the luck in the world. The world needs more of this and less of what we have.
Two subtle things that I noticed that really speak loudly to me: first, when the door opened and the children rushed-in, one older boy slowed the door to make sure it did not hit the wall. Second, when they went into the other room, they did not attack and devour the treats on the countertop. I have taught and led youth from middle school to high school age (and have a teenager myself) and these are hard traits to teach. Well done folks!
A suggestion. Make possible on patreon, a donation that is less than 10 dolars. For North Americans, 10 dollars is almost nothing. But with inflation and stuff, for a south american for example, 10 dollars is a bunch! So, I cant contribute with 10 dollars, but maybe I could with 1 or 2 dollars!
@@demon4511 thank you. You are absolutely correct. If you scroll to the very bottom on the pledge page of the Android app you can select a custom tier. 👍
Destin, I first started watching your videos on my deployment to pass the time. Your passion for knowledge and understanding makes it that much more fun to watch. Seeing how far Not Forgotten has come since it’s conception brought a tear to my eye. I know you didn’t do it alone, but I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for using your platform to promote organizations like Not Forgotten. You’re a good dude and I hope this finds you well. From a no-name fanboy, keep up the outstanding work.
2021 will be my 6th year supporting Not Forgotten. It's been so fantastic watching the organization and those boys grow! Here's to another year of changing lives!
I have been watching for like 5 years now and it has been so cool coming to faith in the past 2 years and seeing how evident Jesus is in your life even with it not being a main focus of your videos but rather making high-quality videos to the glory of God and they are amazing to watch, Thank you.
these people are incredible, i remember destin saying he of course does all this for his kids so it only makes sense he'd want to help other kids and what a perfect fit for you to find this project for awesome. can't tell you how much it hurts me everyday to think about children just not even being given a chance, this is above and beyond that and even though we may live on a tiny planet, and this seems small, but this is bigger than the whole universe in goodness.
This is so good to see... I thought this structure was unique to a mission I have worked with in the past (Back to Back Ministries), but it's obviously not. Glad to see people investing into others, in such a meaningful way.
"This is a big deal". Yes it is. You have my support. What is evident by the video but I don't think was said is, a program and effort like this, accomplishes three very important outcomes, bonds or hold together generations of families, history and culture of the beautiful people there. And lays the foundation for future success and well being of the folks in this country. God Bless.
Destin... I looked up the Not Forgotten website where you can donate as well. A great cause indeed. May God bless you as you spread the love of Christ.
Thanks for the update! It's super awesome and reminded me to check on the patreon page again and noticed that the mimimum amount you can donate is $10 a month. So that "thousands of people donating $1" doesn't work out. Would be awesome to see that option just to allow more people to donate small amounts too.
I really like how you did say where it is but not label the children. I have heard other groups repeating say things like (location)kids. Good job on getting the word out.
Thank you very much Smarter Every Day. Since this report is in English, many peruvians are not aware of this effort you are doing in my country. I suggest you propose a system or a solution for people in the Region called Puno. They suffer of freezing cold weather beacuse of the highlands with temperatures of -15°C. Even those events are seasonally based, but people is not well protected for cold winters and the kids are suffering for many diseases or illness because of the freezing cold weather. Greetings from Perú¡¡¡
Hey Destin, do you know if they have any plans at looking at Jupiter through the perseverance rover and if not what do you think it would look like from the surface of Mars? Love your stuff!you truly are making me smarter !
I just asked about these young ones on Reddit! I appreciate the update you gave me there and giving us a video update as well. Subscribing on Patreon now! Are there any future volunteer opportunities (domestic or abroad) that they could use from this community? Thanks Destin!
Thunk. I fell in love with this idea and proccess. We all be peeps and some of us on this whirling ball just need a helping hand to know who's we are and who we are in this amazing creation. Thanks to those who actually do the hard gritty work on a daily basis. Lord Jesus, let your blessings flow to those who support this endeavor, and those who benefit from it.
This is great. I would love to see efforts like this in Mexico where I'm from. In 2019 out of 33 thousand orphan children only just 7 were adopted. Not seven thousand... Just seven. That's 0.00002%
I tired to find Not Forgotten on the P4A website through the link you sent and it isn't coming up. Have you guys posted your video for us to vote on yet?
@@cap5856 Yes, the clock on the wall. It's always fun to see what time he records, and how he edits, going back and forth in time. I probably should be paying more attention to what he's saying than the hypnotic clock. :-)
I don`t get it. They live with parents but they have not been adopted yet because they live in an orphanage? I`m sorry but I idn't understood that point. How that it works???????
Each house in the orphanage has a home with house parents. They are full time, and kids come in, and kids leave. But the parents stay with the organization. They can't adopt all of the kids, but they can take care of many!
If I remember correctly from what Destin previously said, they cannot adopt these boys because of some local law or something. When the organization made the decision to build an orphanage, they didn't just want to go the traditional route and make one big orphanage and house them in one giant building with no experience of what a real family should look like when they grew up. They feared this would only perpetuate the cycle of abandonment the boys are in. They decided to make a "small village" with individual houses, no more than 6? boys for each "parents" which, even though they are not their parents and cannot adopt them have made the commitment to treat them as if they were their own children. So, even though it cost a LOT more to do it this way but by giving them the full experience of a small home, parents that are there just for them, siblings, neighbours, school, etc.. The plan is to give them the option to study a profession if they want. As they said they took the holistic approach in the hopes that the boys would grow up to be productive men in society and break the cycle of abandonment in Iquitos Peru.
