This makes me feel better about my stance. I'm very conservative. I believe marriage is man and woman. But I have always gone out of my way to be kind to gay people and gay couples. My thought was that if they knew of me as kind and fair, then once they discovered my faith they would understand I want people to know God for heaven's sake. Not because I want them to fear hell. But sometimes I doubt myself. I think I may be just afraid of being labeled homophobic. This helps me find the balance. Praise God for this point of view! May I never beat people with the Word, but rather make heaven look so worth life sacrifice.

So much this!!! We are commanded to love EVERYONE the way Christ loves us, but just because we love them, doesn't mean we condone their actions. We can love them, gently and kindly show them how they are wrong while allowing Jesus' light to shine through us so they see the BENEFITS of being a true Christian, and not the judgemental condemnation that so many "christians" present. I fully understand why so many people shun Christianity when all they see is that judgement & condemnation. We can change that. We can (and should) be the light of Jesus that makes them WANT to turn to The Way, The Truth, and The Life. 😁👍

@@fieroboom Absolutely! When your friend is enjoying his gay lifestyle, and gay marriage, it is our responsibility to gently chide them and tell them it is wrong to be gay, and that if they don't stop, they'll burn in hell forever! This really helped my friend out - he now denies being gay and got a divorce! Praise God! Now sometimes I find him crying in a corner, but I feel good about myself because the bible is definitely true and this way his soul is pure and free and ready to join God! I sure am glad that I found the bible. Sometimes I am concerned that it might just be a collection of bronze age superstitions from 2000 years ago that has very little evidence to take seriously, and that the many passages endorsing slavery and the murder of children might be signs that it was written by primitive humans instead of a perfect all loving God, but I drown those concerns out of my mind by going to church every Sunday!! Now my gay friend says his life is ruined, but I know deep down he thanks me for changing his life in a positive way forever, since now he can live out the 10 commandments as specified in the 2000 year old bible that is totally inerrant and in no way the work of man! After all, if the bible had errors, then the Earth would be more than 7 days old and there would be no evidence for Noah's flood which flooded the entire planet! But we all know that's not true :). I am determined to do the same to many more of my gay friends and relatives. In fact, I may just go on a tour! Bless Jesus and God for teaching us this holy pathway 😁👍

Note: as for going to the “wedding” it’s a No for me. I will not be part of the ritual that eventually tries to scapegoat this with the excuse of “I was doing it for God, or it’s all about leading people to Jesus” might I remind everyone that Aaron allowed the ppl of Israel to make a golden calf with that same excuse, it did not go well for Aaron & the Israelites. Stand your ground, you can love the sinner but do not engage and be part of the sin even the reception is part of the celebration of that union. Otherwise we might be partaking in the thieves treasures while not exactly participating in the act of stealing. Hope this makes sense. God bless you all.

I always want to comment, but don't think it will be received as anything but condemning. You did a good job of being firm but loving. Its looks like we will just end up being labeled homophobic. Angelica I feel EXACTLY like you do as far as the wedding AND reception. Both are a celebration event and I cannot in my heart celebrate what is clearly sin!. I see and hear of a lot of Christians compromising on this and I just cannot in good conscience cross that line. I have a friend who I've known since elementary school whose daughter is marrying another woman and though she and her husband are dear Christian friends, they are supportive of their daughters marriage and it is causing tension in our friendship because I cannot celebrate this unholy union. So sad how many of our mutual Christian friends are compromising on sin. I feel so alone. But I chose to obey God first and show love how I can in other ways...without compromising.

Really appreciate the thoughtfulness going into this whole issue. I'm just not fully convinced that suicidality among sexual minorities is not mainly caused by our discrimination and stigmatization of them. Could you please post some research references?
@sarahsays194
@sarahsays194 2 года назад
I definitely think how some Christians treat gay people have done damage. I also think however the point the LGBTQ+ community likes to make is the suicide rate is higher only because of the stigma from Christians and nothing else. Stats such as what Christopher gave is something to come up against that. Studies also show that LGBTQ+ youth attempt suicide or commit suicide, the majority have other mental issues going on on as well. I think the LGBTQ+ community wants to focus on that one thing and ignore all others because it's easier that way. It's important to keep accountability, but studies such as these show all blame on us isn't correct.

Quick but important fact check on suicidality of gay youth in the Netherlands. A non-affirming response by parents is linked to suicide attempts by youth. Non-affirming responses at school also play a role in suicidal ideations and attempts. I was unable to find a source comparing suicide rates between Dutch and American LGBT youth that Chris implies to be pulling from. Diana D. van Bergen, Henny M. W. "if you have had victory over sin in your life, you can help someone have victory over theirs" - I think the issue is many who consider themselves believers are not convinced that SSA IS a sin - so the struggle isn't to help them have victory, it's to help them see that it even is a sin and not how they were made by God.

Great interview and guest; another book on my reading list! This got me thinking: it's curious to me that the one 'orientation' (relational/sexual) that is NOT being pushed or celebrated or normalised by the world at large (even in Christian circles) is that of being intentionally and happily SINGLE and abstinent. The Apostle Paul celebrated it and wished it for others who came to Christ not yet married, seeing it as a way to wholeheartedly live an uncompromised Christ-oriented life. Our desires and culture conspire to push us into sexual relationship. Godly relationships are wonderful and to be embraced, obviously; but I also hear of many unhappy marriages where people feel unable to fully live out their God-given giftings and callings due to the necessary compromises they must make in marriage, in which their primary focus becomes the family unit. The church would do well to challenge (within the church) the broader cultural assumption that something is lacking if a Christian stays single. We of all people have the true relationship our souls were made for, and we have His example and that of at least one of His disciples as a valid option.

Absolutely. This is such an excellent comment. Extremely thoughtful. I agree in regards to the church needing to bring more honor to those that are single. Single people tend to be an afterthought and marriage tends to be the "in thing" to do in Christianity. This is unfortunate, as two of the biggest world changers, Jesus and Paul, were both single! 😊

Yet one more in a series bringing lgbt Christian people who have opted to forego their emotional and sexual fulfillment. In contrast, where are Sean's videos with lgbt Christians who argue that their Faith and sexuality are part of their personhood and compatible with Faith? I started willing to be enlightened through Sean's many video discussions. The one-sided crusade these multiple videos is evidencing tells me otherwise. The cruelty and lack of genuine Christian understanding in these materials is all the worse because of the systematic and strategically conscious packaging of "Compassion Language" around it all. These videos only reach members of the same echo chamber, affirming the same exclusions that have done so much harm.
@sarahsays194
@sarahsays194 2 года назад
He has done interviews with people who are affirming. I can think of three. He's done a discussion with a lesbian, he did a discussion with a pastor who is affirming, and he also posted a conversation with Matthew Vines. I think the main point of Sean doing these in the first place is to help Christians who are in the nonaffirming stance handle conversations and what the attitude should be in general. It's no secret that people who have a nonaffirming stance tend to suck at the delivery or have let hate distort their heart and control their view. The viritrol given by the LGBTQ community I would say is earned for the latter, but for the former I'd say it's a respect thing. If two people with an opposing view on anything enter a discussion regarding it, and one party is being respectful and cordial and the other person is being disrespectful and rude, I think it's appropriate to look at the person who is being respectful in a positive way even if you don't agree with their stance. The LGBTQ scene is a community so of course it's going to differ person by person. There are plenty of people in the LGBTQ community who are fully capable of having respectful conversations with non affirming people, and there are others in the LGBTQ community who don't even want to consider it because imo they feel even giving one positive thing to to a non affirming person demeans the community as a whole.
@tiosurcgib
@tiosurcgib 2 года назад
@@sarahsays194 It would be good to agree with your perspective. Unfortunately I see no sincerity in Sean's ongoing, multiple and non-stop anti-lgbt campaign. I DO see a very well-package set of cosmetics. One that overcomes the significantly poor earlier handling by earlier, more primitive Evangelicals who had zero idea about marketing your message to win. Sean's extensive 'compassion language cannot, however, hide the fact that while holding the Grace and Faith Not Works line of contemporary legalistic, judicial Evangelism, as soon as talk of affirming lgbt Christian issues he reverts and totally forget Grace, Faith or any trace of Jesus's love.
@sarahsays194
@sarahsays194 2 года назад
@@tiosurcgib So it's the legal issues you take umbrage to then? If it's that the Christian community is a community so depending on the specific issue Christians will think differently on it. For instance I find no issue with same sex marriage being legal, as I see it as discriminatory. There are of course Christians who believe differently and prefer same sex unions to not be legal. Things are the same in the LGBTQ community. In the interview with the lesbian I talked about earlier (can't remember her name) she didn't agree with the law that would allow children who identify as trans to take transformation medicine (I know it goes by a certain name I just can't remember what it is).

1 Corinthians 4:6 (ESV).... "not to go beyond what is written..."
@jimmys6566
@jimmys6566 Год назад
@@lee-lee2418 Beaumont explains this thus; The phrase in question (1 Corinthians 4:6 "not to go beyond what is written..." is only part of a sentence, which is itself part of a larger chapter written in the context of a rather long letter. None of these additional contextual layers imply Sola Scriptura. Thus, if these seven words are taken to do so, it would seem that Sola Scriptura was suddenly introduced with no warning in a minor clause of a single sentence in one of the New Testament’s longest writings and never brought up again. Finally, if 1 Corinthians 4:6 is taken as indicating that oral traditions are not authoritative, it would be contrary to numerous other passages (of the Bible) and practices of the apostles and the early Church (even threatening confidence in Christian orthodoxy and the canon of Scripture itself). The main theme and primary concern of First Corinthians is clearly that of unity. The problem was that the immature Corinthians were dividing over the very things that should unite them. In this opening section of the letter, Paul is addressing disunity caused by unbiblical assessments of ministers. Given the textual connection between Paul and Apollos in verses 1:12, 3:4, 3:22 and 4:6, along with his mention of “numerous guides” both in 1:10 and 4:14, plus the material in between devoted to judgment (a theme leading right up to 4:6), it seems best to me to take “not go beyond that which is written” to be referring to the proper biblical standards of ministerial judgment (whether this includes the whole Bible, just the Old Testament, or just Paul’s words in the letter). This explanation fits with the context of the letter in a way that Sola Scriptura would not. (So), it seems that the best contestant for a Sola Scriptura proof text in the Bible actually offers little in the way of support. Much as Jeremiah 10:2-4 sounds like (and has been used as) a clear condemnation of the tradition of decorating Christmas trees, its significance dissolves once one looks below the surface.

We need to spend more time on researching how much evidence there is for the truth of this God. When I hear him talk about "Holy Sexuality" I do feel like he is making an idol out of sexuality. The Pharasees similarly made an idol out of the Sabbath. They prioritized following the Sabbath over loving and healing others, and Jesus rebuked them, saying that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. Similarly, sexuality was made for love, not the other way around. Anything prioritized above loving others can become and idol - Jesus made this very clear in his rebuke of the Pharasees.

Christopher Yuan's contrives this amazing web of bs in an incredible exercise of self denial to please Bible thumpers. Sadly, if the stress of this destructive denial of who he really is does not lead to his eventual suicide, he will probably die an embittered, sad, lonely old man. @drbradvincent

Sexuality is a deeper and stronger trait than identity. God even created animals with sexuality but with a limited sense of identity. Sexual desire was created before the Fall. It's not a result of our sin nature. It's a result of our scientific nature designed by God. In Matthew 19:12, Jesus even said that some people are born non-heterosexual, and He exempted them from heterosexual marriage. He did not explain God's plan for non-heterosexuals, but perhaps He taught by example. Jesus had one "beloved" - John. Jesus was physically intimate with one person - John. Jesus gave "custody" of Mary to one person - John. Jesus gave His final Revelation to one person - John. Jesus was the "Son of David" whose beloved was also named John. There are many more verses describing the love between Jesus and John, as well as the love between David and Jonathan, than are used by people to condemn homosexuality.

Yes that is same sex love. We're not talking about same sex love. Isn't the issue same sex sex? Can the church bless chaste same sex relationships?

@@bernie4268 interesting how should the church deal with 2 men or 2 women who want to share their lives together and decide not to indulge in sex. We can all agree that sex is only a portion of a relationship even less as we get older. What is actually condemned in the bible? Same sex behavior and acts that are abusive...rape..prostitution..pedastry
