LAY HO MA!! This is a bit of a special episode. A warning in advance however, most of this behind the scenes episode is filmed with my cell phone (and I don't have the latest and greatest), so it won't be as cinematic as the regular scheduled content. Nonetheless, I have some big news! A second cookbook is in the works and has been for a few months now. This cookbook will have all of your favourite recipes like the chow mein, pho, singapore noodles, fried rice, masala chickpeas, and much more! The cookbook is currently slated to launch either mid February or early March. Stay tuned and you'll be the first to know :)

Hong Kong born Canadian, Wil Yeung is an international photographer, filmmaker, entrepreneur, violinist, and RU-vid chef. He immigrated to Canada when he was a young boy carrying with him his ability to speak Cantonese and some broken English. Much of his culinary aspirations stem from his background in the visual and musical art spaces. Whether you're plant based or plant based curious, Wil believes that learning how to make food can really change your life and of those around you.

A kindred spirit. I learned early on watching you prep, explain and plate your culinary creations. From the aesthetic of simple black/white colors as a backdrop to your videos, to allowing the dish to pop in color (and truly be the centerpiece), I can really sense the artistic expression of food meets art. As always, thank you for sharing and congratulations on your latest endeavor.

Thank you; i found this interesting and educational. I learned a lot about photography and food styling. As a home cook, I don’t obsess about the aesthetics of the food I create, but I agree that giving someone a beautiful plate of perfectly cooked and healthy food shows the receiver you care for them and that they are worth extra effort. For some people, words are too hard, so making a beautiful plate of chili and garlic infused pasta is the best way to show affection and love. This dish looks absolutely delicious and I’ll be making it as soon as I get some fresh basil leaves. And yay for the new cookbook! I’m all in

I will be rewatching this video A LOT. your explanations made SO much sense to me...especially the bits comparing lighting/photography to cooking. Thanku for 'behind the scenes'. We enjoy your recipes and I often wonder how successful youtubers do videos: hoping your family doesn't mind how perfectly you 'pan' and 'plate'. Perfection has its pro's and con's. (and no need to spike your hair up for us) ;) The food you share is wonderful. We've made several of your recipes. This was sooo interesting. As soon as you shut that light off, I could see how saturated the colour of the plate was. This was the coolest thing ever. Everything you said made perfect sense. I love taking pictures of food and sending them to my sisters and brother. I love to do the overhead shots and the background is super important to me. And like you said, lighting is everything. Wow, I never knew. I want to say thank you for all of your hard work bringing us such amazing food and for your hard work in making the final cut so beautiful. I'm just sorry you don't get to eat it hot. Still, I am really impressed with everything that goes into putting it all together. You are awesome.

This was a great behind the scenes! My husband and I love watching your cooking videos! I was wondering why all of your shots are so composed... You're a photographer! That's awesome! Everything looks so beautiful and yummy :) Question... Where can I buy that pan? Can wait to see the next video and I'm ordering your cookbook!

Lay Ho lay Ho! Are the dried chilis you used different than the powered stuff I make your chili oil with? Or can I use that? Congratulations on your new cookbook! Your Behind the Scenes cracked me up, because I always " stage"" my meals before serving ( decades working at Fine Dining houses) and my son usually snaps a phone pic with which to torture his friends who are not at our table. . " Wil?" he asks. " You know it!". Like he just missed you cooking in our kitchen. I kinda love that! And those wood grains are gorgeous! Thanks Wil, for being an honorary family member. All the best!
