I never thought i would love Penelope and Colin as much as i am loving them. They won me over so hard. Their chemistry is so natural and i am can't wait for the rest of the season.
as funny as the featheringtons can be, it REALLY frustrates me how badly they treat Penelope. the fact that no one, not even her own mother, thinks she could be desired by someone is so awful. even when she has a suitor, they believe that it must be the result of a trick or blackmail. That's why her mother is so keen on "helping" her because she truly believes that the only reason Lord Debling is interested in Penelope is because of Colin's help, and she feels like she has to take over to help secure a proposal. She truly believes that her daughter alone can't attract somebody. It really irritates me so much, and i feel so bad for Pen because she already has most of the ton treating her that way, but to have your own family treat you that way in your own home, somewhere where you are supposed to feel safe and loved, is awful😞

i kept hearing FOR MONTHS about some carriage scene that happens in the book, so as soon as Colin opened that door, i knew what was about to go down, but i still wasn't FULLY prepared for that😭🤭
during the filming of the carriage scene, the actors, Nicola and Luke, did not hear the director yell cut SEVERAL TIMES, so they just kept going😭they got way too into it🤭and they were actually told to TONE IT DOWN😭🫠

Colin saying he wants emotional intimacy in his sex life and getting mocked for it by other men is so real. I've literally watched it happen irl multiple times. Masc people are often shamed when they say they require more than just casual sex. I've watched acquaintances berate my male friends in situations like Colin's had with his friends at the bar. It happened with both a gay friend and my one straight friend. Not Colin jumping straight to a marriage proposal before even saying the words, "I love you." LOL Eloise often isn't the greatest friend to Cressida, tbh. Marriage is detestable to Eloise, but she knows how important it is to women in society and to Cressida in particular. Yet, she made that callous jest about Cressida being married off into what would most likely be an awful situation as "German literature", while her friend was clearly visibly distressed. The, "A diet of vegetables doesn't suit you," moment was similar. The very least Eloise could've done was console her friend both times. I, personally, think that since Eloise no longer had Penelope as her "Sister in Future Spinsterhood" to rely on with it looking like Pen was about to succeed in landing a husband, Eloise needed a new plan. She wasn't going to sabotage Cressida, but Eloise wasn't going to work too hard to help Cressida find a husband and potentially rid herself of a "Spinster Buddy" and wind up all alone. Maybe I'm just thinking ill of Eloise because I'm extra tired and grouchy.

I feel like part 2 will be Pen vs Eloise and I'm scared. As far as the family is aware, Pen is perfect for Colin but Eloise knows more and she has to reckon with that 😭Love your content as always ❤
If you like to read I suggest reading the books, I read them and they are so different from the show it was really spoil much up to around the Colin and pen book, there’s also books for other family’s like smythe and bevelstoke. The books get really really spicy fair warning, I’d say more spicy then the show honestly. If you do decide to read then I say stop before Eloise’s book but that’s just me, the show and books are so different I only know 1 thing for sure and that’s who each person ends up with. How they meet, how they fall in love, back stories ect are different enough I have no idea what’s going to happen but it it’s really good to understand the characters more. In the books you get to see how they think, they’re reasoning, i mainly read them first for polin then to get to know the characters better. If you don’t I completely understand, I honestly wouldn’t have ever read them if I didn’t find out season 3 was polin, I had never even thought about it. I hope either way you’ll be squealing , squeaking, and crying with the rest of us
apparently, colin and Pen are cupid and Psyche a greek mythology tale, so the poor pen is going to be let down by colin AGAIN! before finding the happy ending this theme is running through this season

Lord Debling isn't mad that her affections are elsewhere. He's saying that if a woman is already in love with someone else, marrying her would be cruel- stealing her chance at getting the love that he won't be able to provide. He needs someone who is looking for a practical match, too, since he's not really offering love, and is going to leave his potential wife alone for years at a time. He needs to find someone for whom that won't be a problem.
Not to mention there's no need for him to risk being made to look like an utter fool if his wife ends up having an obvious love affair while he's gone. He's being extremely clear that he's gonna be away for long stretches of time, but is offering an honourable and practical match for a strong, smart woman who can manage his estate (and her own conduct) so he literally doesn't have to worry about everything falling to shit while he's away so long. He'd have to put 100% trust in her sense of discretion, and marrying someone who already has a deep yearning for another is just a potential troublesome variable he doesn't HAVE to choose in his potential wife. He's saying what he's looking for and his motivations are fairly reasonable. He's basically succeeding at what Anthony was trying to do last season. (Because he's way more relaxed than Anthony, is honest about what he truly needs, and knows how to Communicate Effectively.)

And ruined the entire story 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹 (Colin had been taught, all his young life, that it was his duty as a gentleman to protect, care for, and defend the fairer sex.) Colin declaring that he is a true gentleman in season 1. [Means] As a gentlemen he considered himself worthy of veneration due to earn respect not handed it on a silver platter, his unearned entitlement had never warped his sense of moral conscience. He does not see women as decorative object or a prize to be won. 🥇 This is why Penelope loves him. ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️ I honestly won’t ever forgive the writers for ruining the character. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 When they took Colins, sweet innocence and naivety. Because if he had feelings all along (I think he did and S2 had us believing he did) then he should have been increasingly unhinged by not hearing back from her. And worried about her. 2. This is a man who pledged to take care of her in season 2. Where is he? Instead he just goes off to be a slut in 17 cities? And doesn’t give two shits about a friend not writing him back? Just goes and fucks some more sex workers and Countesses? Let me write about it in my journals too! 3. His apology was glib and unworthy of Penelope and their friendship. They made it about Penelope thinking she is unworthy not Colin being a drunk ass and insulting her to eligible bachelors/her chances on the marriage mart. 4.He didn’t bring presents🎁 back for her. So was he even thinking 💭 about her ? At all ? You would think when you’re shopping for presents for everybody someone who special to you would be on your mind to get them something. 5.Colin comes back does the same whoring about the entire time he is teaching Penelope lessons (for weeks apparently) and then kisses her because he feels sorry for her. Ugh that is so gross to me. 6.Then because he is supposedly so despondent over Pen having a suitor, he goes back to fuck some sex workers again. 7.He only gets up enough courage to tell Penelope how he feels once he knows she is getting proposed to. Like he couldn’t call on her, not even once, or bribe her maid again, to see her and explain how he feels. Instead it’s poor me me me me…. I keep asking myself why I should want ShondaColin with Penelope. She deserves sooo much better than him. Ugh… 😣 💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋 It would’ve been just as spicy 🥵 repressed newly discovering virgins. Because Penelope and Colin are sentimental writers ✍🏻 who document every monumental event in their life’s. We as the romantic fan base were expecting The friends to lover❤️Trope. To be more intimate. A story where Colin and Penelope have their first awakening together. I was hoping that the show would give me an improved version of Odysseus the wayward wanderer. as Colin. 🗺️I didn’t like Greek myth Odysseus. I didn’t think he deserved faithfully waiting Penelope. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 The disgusting mentality of a Rake an insecure man who uses women and their bodies as less so they can feel like more. Throwing money at systematically oppressed women for cheap thrills, isn’t sexy it’s not romantic. Only for his soulmate to change him. They didn’t have to make him a Rake to tell the same story of insecurity. 🎪🎪🎪🎪🎪🎪🎪🎪🎪🎪🎪🎪🎪 I had no problem with him being a Showboat, who is charming with a false public image. Who’s raking away his problems until. The soulmate changes him. The story had so much potential and they could’ve done it better without the Rake plot. The friends to lover. Trope. Is for the deeply romantic. 🥰 it’s the innocence of love. ❤️ they alienated Colin for his fan base. When they made him into a wannabe Casanova. They could easily made him a fake Casanova who’s just lying 🤥 to fit in. That would’ve been something different. It would’ve made him more endearing and intriguing instead of another. Man Whore

And affection starved. He’s never really known love devotion safety. Affection & Acceptance. Colin doesn’t struggle from any of that. He grew up in a loving household. He’s always been supported and taken care of. The level of the disrespect of how they destroyed Colins character in comparison to every single other male character. Is an unforgivable offense. 1. Anthony at least had the decency to get himself a consistent mistress for years. so he’s not fathering potential bastards to be ignored. An STD’s 2. Benedict doesn’t pay for prostitutes. He sleeps with willing independent empowered women. not systematically oppressed prostitutes. 3. John Sterling is adorable. 4. Lord Debling by comparison, a truly secure man 🧍♂️ who stands for his own conviction. 5.Featherington girls husbands are cinnamon rolls The Colin we got. Is undeserving of. The ever faithful ever waiting, {Penelope}. Loyal to Odysseus wayward wondering 🤔 Man W***ing ass. They had so much potential. The chemistry and story in season 1 and 2 were so cute and refreshing but the writers instead chose to turn it into a typical overused fuckboy redemption story. After one summer away because Penelope didn’t write ✍🏻 him ? compromises him as man in the eyes 👀 of his fan base. Simon and Anthony never held such values so they weren’t betraying anything. They were never emotionally intelligent to begin with. This is a journey they had to learn. Colin was supposed to be one of the exceptions. And become everything you proclaimed that you were not. You are who you choose to be. When your morals can be compromised just for the sake of pointless validation. What would’ve actually given him a leg 🦵 to stand on is if he wasn’t doing everything he suddenly deemed reprehensible. And unworthy of the title of gentlemen If Colin had felt a bone-deep disdain for this ridiculous society that he had been born into. He would’ve held himself to a different standard, hold on to his Morals even if was just privately. The man is a bit tweaked in the head from taking on so much responsibility at the age of 18 and having to deal with his postpartum depressed grieving mother and all of his 7 siblings. At the end of Anthony season. He learned that the man that he was was no man at all. He was a reprehensible thoughtless Cad. Who needed to humble himself to deserve his soulmate. And you’re telling me the lesson Colin learned in this is be a W*** in 17 cities. 🌆 Colin is a trust fund brat, who gets to travel the world on his rich 🤑 inheritance. Making him a Mr. World international Rake. Makes him extremely selfish. Even more than Simon and Anthony. I saw on Instagram a interview that the actor (Luke) didn’t like the whole brothel scene. He said the characterization came out of nowhere for him. Kinda took him by surprise. 😮 It’s one thing to surprise your audience with a character change, but to completely deform the character to point your wondering, who the hell is this creep? Long story short Colins reasoning for becoming this man is empty and hollow and it makes Colin looks empty and hollow. Colin have spoken so strongly against the practice before. a true gentleman would never expose his lady to such a health hazard. What does it mean of Colin, that you would risk Penelope like that?"
He doesn’t profess his love, it’s just lust and jealousy… let’s see on part 2 if he actually loves her and accepts her for who she is. Also… too many plots, very little time between them to talk, converse, share feelings… if it is to just slide in erotic scenes out of knowhere it’s fine but just admit it and do it right… all these worthless side stories are absurd and messy and the main leads have no development.
It's definitely not lust. There's a reason his dream is mostly about them confessing their feelings rather than being a sexual dream. He writes about intimate moments with woman but feeling lonely and disconnected during. He talks about with the other men how tiring it is pretending and not feeling. Also Colin and Pen have had development through every season so far, maybe you just didn't realize it but that's what has been happening.
