it's weird, last time i tried a Moondrop IEM (Stardust) it didn't fit my ears and always fell out of my ear, I could tell it doesnt go far enough in my ear. Even though the nozzle was smaller than some of IEM that fits well in my ear (salnotes zero) I'll try this one tho, the only thing stopped me from buying the original Chu was the undetachable cable
I just got mine, bean, burning em in....they have removable nozzle ends ,for mods or different filters, maybe one day, moondrop ,will sell a kit of thoze..they sound nice..
@@NECOdes I have that problem too, my ear canal entrance is angled up, but because those nozzle is very straight, it can't really follow the angle of my ear and ended up being a shallow fit. I could force it to fit deeper, but it hurts my ear
Moondrop went through a weird phase with IEM's where they basically released a bunch of IEM's like the droplet, lan and quark dsp. I honestly feel like all those were just testing new hardware. Seems the Chu 2 is now testing a new driver which the Starfield 2 is also using. Wonder how they will go compared to the first models.
I got these today and i love them, it is my first pair of IEMs though so i'm not that experienced but the sound is amazing and the build quality as well for the price.
I have my chu 2z, coming in.this week..First moondrop iem, I've purchased ...Also, saw ,the nozzle ends ,screw on & off, could be great for mods...nice review ,Giz Audio..
I own chu2 ,I very like it's sound profile, now does have any better iem same sound profile like chu2 maybe price range around 200-300 usd? Tanchjim oxygen can be 1 of that?
Moondrop have messed up the Starfield 2 design, imo. Well, actually it may be better overall, but they definitely went overboard with that "Moondrop presents" on the second earpiece. The packaging was also much better for the OG version. The art on it was so much better. And now it's just a huge mug of yet another generic waifu with subtly weird facial proportions. The OG version's package was also appropriately compact and even it's oblong shape resonated with me somehow. This may seem like a weird rant, but it's just that I fell in love with original Starfield's overall aesthetic from the first glance and I still can't let it go. If I could, I'd buy them just to have them in my collection so I could admire and gush over them all I want.
LAN has a beryllium coating. The beryllium coating is very difficult to apply, which is probably reflected in the price. kiwi ears' cadenza is similar.
Just got mine today, i compared it with lil-old Original Chu. It's a little bit warmer cuz of elevated bass and even with higher volume, there's no piercing "S" in treble In original Chu, i need to maintain the volume to medium to avoid the piercing "S" in treble
@@dennisthemenace4288 tried in Genshin and Farlight. The blunt sounds (Thunder/Explosion) Is more realistic cuz of elevated bass The staging still the same as OG Chu I really like the tamed treble of Chu 2
@@ssrb0101 I'm satisfied with spring tips (med/large) ,, I once used foam eartips, it's really good if you don't want the sound getting out.. The only downside is that if your ear is waxy/oily .. it's messy
Would like to see you review the Moondrop Starfield II as I'm curious how different it is to the first Starfield and how it compares to other IEM's in that price range
the thing with Spotify is that people say some tracks are not correctly mastered(?)/uploaded into their library, that is assuming its not mixed badly in the first place. But on most the Very High setting which is iirc 320kbps ogg is good enough barely noticeable difference with lossless (ymmv). Also dont forget to turn off normalize volume, and other audio processing stuff on your device (imagine it like editing jpeg photos compared to raw files, if you edit jpegs it will show up the artefacts at a certain point)
I also think the Lans are a little overpriced but since I got mines for 30.41 i can not complain they are just very good for that price, the same with any other IEM´s after watching some reviews you can decide if pay the whole price of wait for some offers and discounts, like Chu for less than 19.99 or and 22usd max is still good, Quarks for less than 12usd and even until 15usd i would say they are really good just because I really liked them, and the same for any other IEM´s, if you thing a IEM´s is worthy yes go for the full price i guess, but sometime if you pay less and still worthy for more is a win win bc you can recommend them for the normal price or less (and I paid with pesos mxn so prices are even lowest right now than the last year when i bout the Chu, Quarks and SSP)
I rearly comment on choice of music, but I found this song and play it and felt like someone is kidding, it sounds like a song for pre school children...that's my Nope!😊🙋♂️
What are the differences between Moondrop LAN and Moondrop Cho II? Is it just the metal housing? Do they have a much different sound or are they the same?
Unless 7Hz zero is that cheap (in my region it was as low as $11), I think you should wait for the full review of Chu 2. Because those 3 are very (judging from the graph alone) similar in terms of tuning with just a slight difference in bass or treble. Ps. Unless you have any conditions like build quality or fitting which Chu2 nailed both.
Chu2 need to change to better cables. stock cable is really meh... My chu2 change to nicehck F1 stock cables. and use Final Audio eartips and now its surpass some of my 30-50 usd. iems 🤣
CVJ Mirror is a pretty minor products (1DD+2BA) and 2021 yr product. Although it has Monitor like sound signature. 20 - 7khz has around 5, 6db difference. So it will be fit for the person who loves "Flat" signature. The default attached cable is not good, but the replacement cable changes a lot.
Slope bass always has a tendency to lose its definition so lack of definition on chu 2's tuning is understandable. A mixture of slope and shelf filter in bass is the best in my opinion slowly starting from 210hz to reaching its maximum at 110 hz and a steady linear line until 30 and a slight fall off after that. This usually gives a more clean and defined note definition.
Generally yeah, but the Cadenza has really well-defined bass despite a similar bass slope. Of course, it also has a beryllium driver and costs twice as much.
Chu Chu vs Jiu pls!! 😢 i just bought the jiu before chu chu was released 😩 if they somewhat sound similar i think i’ll go for the chu chu when my jiu breaks or when my curiosity gets the better of me.
7hz Salnotes zero is better than both of them also KZ ZVX is better I already have Zero chu and jiu and quarks dsp Zero sounds best Mecha edition of Zero has better bass than original
Hey giz, will you review the simgot ew200 anytime soon? I was thinking of buying it but I'm still not sure. I know it's better than my wan er but I need to know just how better it is when compared lmao
@@heisenberg2649Moondrop iem is notoriously known for being insensitive (harder to drive) compared to others. So basically with 4.4 you get more power but it's unnecessary if you already have players/sources with decent power (even a dongle is fine) to drive it.
Great video Timmy. I'm worried about the chu's treble. Guess I'll see your full review first. Also are you making the Blon x HBB or his new tripowin collab? I'm not a basshead but Im curious about those two especially for the price. Best wishes.
@@stale_.I think you have to specify that it was the OG CRA and not the recent unit which got stealth retune. Zvx is the new CRA now with better tuning.
Probably wait till full review comes out. Btw moondrop has some qc issues with their budget sets. My chu's right ear died after 6 months and about quarks dsp, the left ear had its volume way lower than the right ear(happened twice), i had to take its filter out and clean it. Someone said its due to moisture but my kz never had any problem in 2 years. I love how moondrop tunes stuff but they need some serious qc
@@hypwe6711That's what happened to me but with 7Hz Zero. I think it's more about the low quality filter they used in budget iem and giving kinda false alarms about qc issue. Not saying that moondrop's qc is that good though.
@@new1412 my Zero is working fine from 10 months now I bought mecha edition version too I usually clean my earphones in 1 week and keep changing eartips washing them While my Chu stopped working it has imbalance and cable degraded
Soooo.. between Chu, Chu II and Lan, which would you recommend the most? I owned the Chu and the Truthear Hola, is Chu II and Lan worth the price for my second IEM?
I think the Lan is suppose to be a "refined" Chu, while Chu 2 is a different tuning entirely. Though Chu 2 does hv screw-on nozzles so you can change the tuning filter to whatevear you like.
Best advice? DO. NOT. BUY. My fellow IEM enjoyer, you've already experienced a decent pair of budget IEMs. By spending more on this category, you'd be wasting money on sidegrades. Believe me, sidegrades are not worth it at all - unless you are investing in a different IEM signature to further choose a better one with a similar signature. So, yeah, save your precious money and buy something like the Simgot EA500, Hexa, or Dunu Titan S. Do this and you'll be surprised at how a more expensive IEM can sound.
Checking the FR and I think it's between 7hz zero & Waner (yeah, that TINY gap of difference between those 2). So I think Chu 2 isn't for anyone who already have one of those 2 unless they're unsatisfied with either the fitting of 7Hz Zero or the build quality of Waner. Tbh, this is what OG chu supposed to be. Sadly moondrop already missed the train. Ps. Wondering why the FR of Chu2 from Super Review has nearly 8db bass difference between L&R side. I mean 74db of deep bass? That's even beyond the QKZ HBB.
you read my mind, I have wan'er and the qdc stem is starting to have color green stuff and visible crack, probably sign of oxidation but no difference in sound quality yet
@@huynhxuanviet9818Waner is very good. I have tried the original Chu so far and I absolutely prefer the better sounding bass on Waner. I heard 7hz is close, so buy whichever aesthetic you prefer more, I guess.
