Not normally a Ford man but I very much enjoyed learning about your car, you’ve done a cracking job on it and I hope it treats you well for a long time to come
Goodness sir, what an excellent vehicle and a fine review as ever. A very good friend of mine owned AG04 MLZ in silver and believed to be an ex-Cambridgeshire police unmarked cruiser. It was interesting how you remarked briefly on the fuel economy: I recall his wife once on a long journey with an extremely light right foot managed to coax 28mpg out of it. So sadly c 2008 when fuel prices (first) skyrocketed it had to go. Must be a rare bird these days as most of the Mk 3 Mondeo STs I see around are of an engine type which we cannot discuss on your channel.
Indeed, sir, many of the remaining Mark III Mondeos are not able to be discussed on the channel. We do like these V6 ones, though, although a 2.5 Ghia Automatic would be more the sort of thing I would prefer... The police did also have plenty of these back in the day.
Full approval given sir. The cruise (speed control as Ford calls it) was standard across the range (aside from the Edge and Mistral) from facelift. Prior to this, it was only on the Ghia X. I believe the Mazda based V6 on this is chain driven cams.
It's not actually the Mazda based V6 from the previous Mark I and Mark II Mondeo. It was very much Ford's own engine by this stage. The Jaguar version of this engine does have a timing chain, but this one has a cam belt for reasons I don't really understand.
Sir, I really liked the 'edge' design when it was introduced and then expanded across the Ford range. Like you, I'm a little anti when it comes to modification, but I can't fault the owner for customizing the car and thereby keeping it on the road beyond 300k miles! The engine note might have been modified a little too loud for my tastes, but I am an insufferable old curmudgeon regarding these things.
Yes, a bit loud for someone who would prefer a Ghia X, but I understand why people like these. The restoration job that Dunk has done on this car over the past year is incredibly impressive.
Hi Joseph over here they are call Ford Fusion and the Estates (Wagon) are Taurus I think they are all Automatics I rode in a friends carshare for work very nice car very quiet downside they need premium petrol I have never owned a Ford car never appealed to me best regards Andy Allen.
Yes, the Fusion and the Taurus are a bit bigger than these, actually. The platform they are based on is a little bit bigger than the Mondeos. Thank you again for watching!
