Imagine you're a phone, waiting to be unboxed, expecting to see your eventual owner, and what interesting things he will do, and then when you come out, you see this guy.
@@archismarathe1589 Based on his comment, he doesn't. He mentioned that Zack's creative for coming up with the term and can pass as Dbrand's marketing arm. Nothing wrong with that, I just highlighted facts.
Hey Zack, the exclamation mark shows the battery percentage when the phone is laid down flat on display. You have to bump the phone slightly and then the indicator will show. It doesn't work while you're holding it.
You'll know that technology is evolving when Jerry says "There are scratches at a level 7, with deeper grooves at a level 8" when scratch testing a flagship phone.
Well tbh would it make that much of a difference? For these videos and on paper sure, but in real usage? Long ago scratches were a pretty big concern. But putting Gorilla Glass on phones basically fixed that. With a perfectly clean screen holding it in the perfect position I can make out 2 super tiny scratches after 4 years. And I'm not super careful trying to prevent that stuff. No screen protector. My old Oneplus One has a slightly larger scratch but even that is only visible when searching for it from pretty weird angles.
Jerry always writes down the hardness scale on the sticker from 1-10, but never scatches until 10 - I would love to see him scratch a display with all levels up to 10 one day just to see how much damage it does 😃 Am I the only one? 😃
@@tridinh1011 The feature is available, what's the big deal about having to turn it on? You also have to manually set a Galaxy phone screen resolution to 2K.
@@SwiftHDX theoretically there’s nothing (haha) wrong with that, but it makes me wonder why it’s not on by default. Usually there is some (unfortunate) reason behind it. For Samsung, it was more battery drain, for this I’d guess the same, but I don’t know.
Oh my, that bend test didn't break the phone but it was nerve-wracking 100%. Glad I can now consider buying it, I really only waited for your durability test to confirm it's solid.
There's another channel (I can't remember which) that did a teardown video of this phone recently. It all seems to come apart pretty easily compared with most phones once the clear plastic back is removed. There's not much holding those lights in.
Pretty good test result considering it's their first phone. Been using my Nothing 1 for 2 weeks now, got some software issues, but nothing major. Hope they fixes these bugs continuously.
I've got mine few days ago and i'm loving it, the only thing that is bothering me is the poor balanced sound coming from the stereo speakers. I tried making sound only the top speaker by going in the setting and balancing the audio, and it get pretty loud and remains clear, so it isn't a problem of the speaker itself, but a balance problem. As of now the phone sometimes gets few minor bugs, but that's completely fine and normal for the first phone of a brand new company.
@@omicron7735 A pessimistic view but each to their own, I enjoy the bold controversial design they exhibit, It's reminiscent of the days of outlandish design when the likes of Nokia had to push the boat out as phone features had plateaued and it made little to no difference who you went with, it really helps to stand above the endless sprawl of bland, dreary grey slabs we have on offer at this price point.. hence why i chose this over a "pants down" contract, besides if you can recommend another worthy contender as stylish as this for the same premium, let me know.. 🫰🏽

i have to admit that even though i have seen many of jerry's videos it still saddens me when he tries his level best to break them in half! having a mobile phone is no longer a luxury and so trying your best to break them is what has made this channel so popular.
Every scratch and force you apply to these devices, feels like a pain to me. I can't even imagine myself doing this to a device. My hands will 🥶. If cell phones had lives, you would be their greatest nemesis. 😝
Hey Zack, will you please change the lighter test for a water resistance test? I feel like we’re more likely to experience water damage than fire and that would be a better durability test in general.
Well, if a phone fails a water test it’s completely broken. If it “fails” a fire test the screen can be replaced and most often he phone can still be used with the mark
I suggested my dad to order this phone which I did today, he isn't a tech enthusiast and quite old fashioned. His Samsung, just a year old is struggling with god knows what sort of lag and also the lack of storage due to 64 Gigs is affecting my dad's work and all. Nothing seems to be rather interesting, and most importantly the end user experience is very clean, simple and easy to use. Also specs are great, so is the build and design. I am glad this phone launched at such a great time, I mean this is just the perfect midrange Android for elders which is unique and value for money, obviously below the iPhone and Pixel.
i personaly wouldn't recommend a new phone brand for someone who works from his phone. Nothing's software isn't stable yet though it will be in 5 -6 months. get a samsung/apple/oneplus.
@@sumitlakhani4012 No he doesn't work from his phone, but just has lot of personal as well as official stuff, social media etc. Also I trust nothing, I am pretty sure they'll nail the software (which is basically just plain Android) in a couple of updates down the line.
Finally! Great to see the Nothing Phone 1 being durability tested nicely on your end. Can't wait for the teardown part. I hope to see any of the 2022 Galaxy A phones being tested by you as well. Curious to see how a Galaxy A13 will survive lol.
Yeah, I can understand the pain with those optical fingerprint scanners. They easily are the worst kind. Totally unreliable even after registering finger multiple times. If some elderly person is trying to use it, they might be better off not even bothering with it...
I'd expect sapphire on the front screen seeing as they want you to use the back for notifications but if you want to use that feature the front needs to be face down and if you so happen to have sand around your screen is ruined you don't tend to care so much about the back as you never use it to view stuff
Definitely looks like an interesting phone, might look into getting whatever phone they inevitably end up releasing in the US if it stacks up to this one
I bought a Galaxy S10 the day it came out and after years of heavy use I still have the original plastic screen protector on it, working well. A tiny bubble started to form in the upper right corner which I haven't been able to get out, but since it's past the bend it rarely annoys. I might buy a Nothing phone as a backup in case my Samsung unexpectedly dies, given that it does hold some important data that can't just be backed up to a computer, and I do need to stay reachable.
@@alirgam8847 I would say so, yes. Doesn't come with all the fancy megapixel numbers, but when taking photos in RAW format you're getting really good photos. Unfortunately Samsung has always had a problem with their conversion to jpeg, because they apply sharpening and color filters that make details look unnatural on closer inspection. If you save the photos as RAW you can either edit them with a good RAW editor, or you can just immediately convert them to JPEG as they are and you'll have nice jpegs.
@@pham3383 My battery still has a very high capacity and my screen has no visible burn-in yet. It's over 3 years old now. The thing I worry about most is the battery swelling up and taking the phone with it. It's not a thing I worry about because it's a Samsung, just because I used to work in tech support and saw bloated batteries daily.
I really appreciate the red blinking light when you're recording video. This Nothing phone looks like a phone that I see myself buying if it has flagship specs (because I buy a phone every 4 years and sell my old phone secondhand, because that's even better than recycling)
"As we rotate nothing to the sides, we find out that the i-phone, sorry nothing-phone is made from aluminium"😂😂😂...This zag always have a way of sending a message
Best line "flipping this phone over makes it looks like a regular phone again" I was brushing my teeth and boy did I laugh so hard. Also that something skin is actually hilarious
When phone company make a new phone they have to make one a very precise version for Jerry and they send it to his nearest store because they know what this phone gonna go.
It would be interesting to know if the wholeback glass is glued to the phone, or there is a hollow space between the phone and the glass. Also (if there is a gap) what happens when pressure is applied.
The nothing ear phone 1 is surprisingly a decent good looking phone as the back of it displays some strips of light to be indicated when picked up or charging to see what level they are at. The cameras are similar to iPhone 12 as well and the two options of black and white are a good fit
The whole phone for its price and specs looks far better than most midrangers of other brands and competitors. There arent amny phones better for that price level and those for are are usualy filled with heacy bloatware. So nothing to give it a try and it can really be your best friend to buy. I definitely like it.
Thanks Zack, what a result for that bend test - almost amounts to nothing! (My guess is that noise was probably the battery adhesive coming off inside) On the something side, I'd love to see the Asus Zenfone 9 tested next.
It’s a good idea, but to a certain extent it would be pointless. It’s not testing how much force is required, it’s testing if the average person is gonna end up bending it by accident in their pants or something. If he can’t intentionally bend it while putting force into it, it’s fine in your back pocket.
My Nothing Phone (1) had Motherboard Issue. I used it for 14 Months and one day the Mobile got switched off, I approached the Service Center and they have asked me for 21000/- INR to replace the Motherboard 😒
Great test as usual, but considering the issues users are getting with this phone, I would really love to see you testing it on humidity and dust conditions, and checking the dead pixels after a few weeks of use. If you kept your model, specially after this test, your feedback would be very interesting!
@@mokshitd7392 that's why people are shifting to Android to get better value for money and extra features, not some high brand value charges with low specs.

a durability test/ tear down on the 'reMarkable' tablets would make an interesting video. They claim to be the world's thinnest tablet, but also have some pretty cool tech inside.
I 'love' how they found space for hundreds of (tiny, but still) LEDs, but were still unable (or rather, unwilling) to fit a single headphone jack into the phone. With all the empty space on the top, too. Hard pass for me! I simply won't buy a phone without a headphone jack. Sure, I get that BT speakers are cool. But I still use wired ones too, and I enjoy having more options, rather than less.
@@ikonikian475 Did you even read my comment? I have BT earbuds as well. Doesn't change the fact I also enjoy using some of my higher-end wired sets. No headphone jack = no cash from me!
One fact that no one is appreciating the new design that nothing has given , everyone wants t9 find mistakes in the phone. Acc to me this phone is a beast.
