@@JV-qh7ix no...you're completely wrong my dear. the best player is John Patrick McEnroe...and the best talent Tennis have never seen. remember...and don't forget it!
Yes, I remember. When people allowed pro athletes to act like spoiled little children throwing temper tantrums when things didn't go their way. Yes, great times.
@@generalyellor8188 I am glad times are more to your liking now. Poor professional athletes don’t getaway with anything these days and are so poorly paid!🤣😂
Why have I never seen this before? One of the top ten tennis videos ever. The warmth and humor of two tennis legends, the commentators and the crowd make a wonderful and unexpected moment.
Oh man. I'm a 50-something ex collegiate tennis player. I emulated Mac's game as a kid (and I'm even left-handed....) and for me personally, he will forever be my GOAT. I'm sure Djokovic is now the same to so many young tennis players. Two eras, two greats. What a phenomenal moment.
Well, iconic yes. Still has game? Probably not. But that's ok, still perhaps the best tennis commentator of all time. That's worth alot to the dedicated fan. 🤩
This was absolutely great. Really loved every second of the video. I am old enough to have seen John in the 70's and 80's. And he is still in great shape, what a nice return. Both are great.
Oh I remember one time at Wimbledon he stormed off the court with his bags haha great times, he was a great all rounder and I rather enjoyed his antics
I also watched John in his prime. Never a dull moment when he played and always enjoyed his brillance at the net. I really miss the matches between him and Conners and Borg.
Mcenroe was the one who got me interessted in tennis when i was a kid. Tennis was so stif. Mostly all nice guys with much respect. And came mcenroe yelling at the umpire and his opponent. Smashing his racket. Loved it as a kid. He brougt the badboy to tennis. Gotta love it.
McEnroe is my favourite player of all time..he really had all the shots..between 1980 to 84 he was awesome..the dismantling of Connors in the 84 Wimbledon final was sheer perfection
One legend after the other legend! Absolutely precious!! Djokovich is the best to promote tennis! Big Mac is fantastic!! Hats off to both of them!! What a treat!!!!🇨🇦🇨🇦👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
When John was winning championships on the biggest stages playing the world's best, he was also winning doubles and mixed doubles at the same time. Nobody does that.
One of numerous, still very agile, then, 50 year-olds. Took me a v long time to like McEnroe but he’s without doubt on of the best commentators as well as all time greats of the game.
This video made me smile from ear to ear. Just watch the way he even had that remarkable "soft touch" on one of his first returns. Thanks for the wonderful trip back.
I haven't played tennis in about 20 years, but I reckon this video alone will get me back on the court. Thank you JM...and thank you Novak for being such a sport.
The competitive grin on his face as soon as he realized he was going to play, and that touch...man, that touch never gets old, the purest touch ever imho.
Love him or hate him, but you cant deny that Djoker is one of the most complete player in tennis and an absolute entertainer. I miss his impersonations. RF fan by the way
I neither love nor hate Djokovic; only a fool would deny his incredible accomplishments, unique skills, and potential yet to be realized. Apart from his tennis playing entertainment he seems to think he is a great entertainer but is often pure cringe. One of the reasons you miss his impersonations is because he stopped doing them when he realized people were taking him less seriously.
The Aussie´s doesn´t love him because he has an integrity that is worth more for him then their tennis competition. People that doesn´t know true integrity has big problems to accept those who has.
@@wanderer1955 I sure am. They need us old farts around to keep the legends alive. I just wish Jimmy had married Chris and had a whole team of tennis player kids. Jimmy why didn't you marry Chris man?
I remember McEnroe beating people with his wooden racquets when most other players were switching to other materials. McEnroe preferred the feel of wood - what a legend.
This is a nice sounding story but a lie. Mac switched in 83, which was about the time many pros were making the transition. He wasn’t particularly late. As he himself says: he picked up one of Patrick mcenroe’s Dunlop’s and IMMEDIATELY took to it, finding more pop and no lack of feel. He never looked back and started playing successfully with him in his very next tournaments. Never trust internet gurus - but particularly ones in youtube comments.
John McEnroe has always been tennis greatest legend One of the technical masters, along with an attitude of never being a conformatist. I miss him so much on and off the centercourt.
@@JW-bs7xp what, you think the crowd and McEnroe wouldve appreciated Novak blasting him off the court? That wouldn’t be’ McEnroe and Djokovic playing’ that would be’ Dominic destroying McEnroe and not letting him win a point.’ I guarantee that if Novak had tried his hardest people like you would be calling him out on humiliating McEnroe
Djokovic is a champ from Heart. He’s generous in praise & extremely humble John has a soft heart who was often misunderstood as aggressive. He’s a real entertainer It’s fun
Love it! Djokovic has his own character, and he played perfectly to the crowd then. Gave everyone an extra 5 minutes of special unforgettable entertainment. And kudos to John McEnroe too, ever the entertainer and crowd pleaser. It’s strange to think that Novak is not so popular now even though he’s charging towards best ever player metrics.
he's literally one grand slam away from goat. and if he'd beaten medvedev, he'd have that plus all four grand slams in one year, which hasn't been done since '69
Federer and Nadal are the gold Boys of tennis in every individual sport you get the favourites then some one comes a long and breaks that mould and challanges the fan favourites. Unfortunately Djokovic is that guy. I think his great and great player player his all round game is amazing especially his defence
Wonderful to see the integrating of different generations. Kudos to Novak for keeping it alive. For their times, Ali-Frazier, Borg-McEnroe, and Alydar-Affirmed were three terrific rivalries. Rafa's victory today at the Australian, was a history maker too. It puts Nadal in the pantheon of all-timers from any sport!!
Nothing can match McEnroe and Borg's match in Wimbledon taking to 5 sets. It was a great match in which Borg won, but the match was great watching McEnroe.
Djokovic had only one slam, first time I saw his potential and knew he was going to be a champ was in the 2007 us open against federal which he lost . By the end of 2010 roger had 16 grand slam nadal had 9 already . Hue different and now he's only 2 behind . His dominance in the last decade is absolutely mind-blowing
I remember watching him play Federer in AO 05 or 06 and he lost in straight sets but I was thinking this kid, who was (well, still is) the same age as me, was fearless and there was some swagger about him. He is destined for something. And I started following him
@@randomcon123 It was 2007 AO, arguably Federer's best tournament ever. He gave him a beating in the 4th round. The next year, the Djoker got his revenge (although Federer didn't play as well, Djokovic was clutch).
3:07 - I am from Bulgaria (a neighbour country to Serbia) and I am STILL so proud of Novak. Serbia SHOULD be proud of having such an excellent talent. I still can't believe (after all this time) that a country from the Balkan peninsula produces a WORLD class talent. Just amazing. Serbia should be proud.!!!!
Jednog dana cemo gledati snimke i slike kao i neke Reportaze cak i Film o nasoj legendi i bratu Novaku. Bez njega ane i jelene ja nikada ne bih poceo da gledam tenis, kamoli da igram! Sve naj nasem rodjenom Djokovicu
McEnrow was annoying when he was a competitive player, but no denial he is one of the best commentators on tennis with his insights and humor. Djokovic has always been an outstanding human being, a humble person even though he has been the top 3 in men's tennis for decades!
