I think as soon as he came back from that injury in 2018 and started playing well again (around the grass season, when he was 31), he really stopped giving a shit about it. He's been unreal in his consistent despite age since then.

It was the most robust and resilient Novak Djokovic that I have watched by now in AO24. It was really an extraordinary performance and dynamism on the court. Besides, the versatility of Djokovic was top-notch all over the court in order to lead the balls and modifying the direction in accordance with the composure of the rally throughout the whole clash. Well-deserved glory in 3 straight sets.

@@gianmarcogestri516 yeah mate i get it, but still it's not like Nole won 6-0 every set. There are a lot of points by Djokovic that could have been replaced by some shots by Etcheverry. These highlights just make it seem too one-sided, imo. Not a big deal since Nole won and deserved it; like you said Etcheverry could have played better 😅

New generation doesnt have his mentality, i am very dissapointed with them, only Alcaraz has a chance to beat him. Apart from his achievements, his greatest weapon is his work-ethic. The new generation of people need to learn (including me) from greats like Novak, what we need to do in order to surpass our limits and our goals. Even though i prefer Federer's tennis there is nothing else to say about this beast. Novak is the favourite to win it in my view.

@@pauljohnson6019 Federer needed to find way to finish those points, Novak had mastered his game a long time ago, he just doesnt do errors anymore, if you want to beat him you must have the proper stamina and the stability to your shots to do it. Federer was a fantastic shotmaker but after Wimbledon 2012 he never had the physical condition to actually compete against Novak, that's why he took many risks in the rest grand slam matches against him. We must admitt that Novak has way more options in his game (especially after 2011) because he invested a lot in his body and after that he has almost perfected his shots, especially his backhand.

Etcheverry didn't play good, he looked pretty soft. I don't think Novak can outpower Sinner or Alcaraz, they hit like beasts. His shots are fine and precise but he doesn't produce enough power when hit those shots, Alcaraz and Sinner produce much more power and he might have problems in catching and returning such agressive shots. Since he is not as fast as he used to be so I suspect an ammount of those shots will pass him quite easily. Translate as winners on their side.

@@sppecials606 Novak is essentially one of the best in redirecting the power of his opponents. You cannot easily outpower him or rush him, he can absorb it like no other. and return your own speed to you. Only if you can combine the power with precision can the shots go through him, but you need to do it through some longer rallies and get his stamina down. Even Alcaraz is the one that can easily create power of his own, but can be rushed if you give it back to him and he doesn't have the time to wind back his shots. If Novak maintains this level and gets his consistency even higher, he is still the favourite.

Nole is Nole, it's the best but Etcheverry really varied the game a little, playing often and insistently in a single corner and with Nole, if you don't make him run it happens that he will make you run. Etcheverry really played tactically poorly.

Looking from these highligthts Etcheverry seemed to be very inactive always staying on the baseline, it was only Djokovic that was offensive and leading the game. I haven't watched either of his matches here but presume Martin was not wining in his previous matches applying this strategy?!

In football, tennis etc. all you see is players doing the "silence" hand gestures or the "I can't hear you" gesture with the ear as seen on this videos' thumbnail.
