We are doing this one this coming fall. FYI, Physical Science does not heavily emphasize on the old earth. Their Earth science does. I heard from the young earth homeschool friends saying Novare physical science was just fine. I think it is a great science program esp if anyone is tired of Apologia. Schole and Memoria Academy offer online classes for this.

Thank you so much for adding your comment!! That is really helpful for myself and others to realize! You have me curious about the online classes :)

That's vey interesting. Since we are young earth believers, I didn't want to considered it even though I knew about it. Thanks for the insight into this particular Novare subject.

Wilson Hill also has an online course for all Novarre. My friends children have used the WH classss and they are very well done from what I hear. I too have been intrigued by this curriculum and this video helps me to be more so. We attend co-ops which is helpful for group activities. I love that Novarre has review-mastery built in and very much want that. Thanks for a helpful video. I subscribed to your channel.

I also am a degreed scientist, have worked in many labs and my husband as well. This is just hits all my requirements.

Thank you so much for doing this overview!! I have had this on my list for the future for a long time but haven't seen very many people talking about it/ doing flip throughs. I even had posted comments on some people's in hope they had more info. I didn't expect you to do it since your kids are still young so lovely surprise. 😊 You're a bit ahead of me so I look forward to gleaning tips on using it from you in the future!

We are just about to start chapter 12 in Physical Science. Love this curriculum but it is intense. Love the on-going review and the fact that the quizzes also bring in material from previous chapters. It is mastery but spirals in review like you said. My son has done well but definitely not easy. It is teacher intense in the fact that you need to be available to check understanding as you go along. I definitely wasn't doing this level of science in 7th grade. The experiments are wonderful but have been a challenge. We skipped the first one altogether. 😬. I wish I could find other families to collaborate on in my area. Midway through math becomes very important. Lots of calculations. My son did not like this at first but he is now getting it. We will continue with Novare Earth Science next year. Super solid. My son has been challenged and has grown a ton! Would love to see how you set up a week and how you integrate everything. I feel like just now we have found a rhythm. 😁

I'm not tied to either old or new earth. 21:09 However I think that teaching from and old earth perspective would give my daughter a foundation to understand the mainstream side while also letting her know the arguments for a new earth so she can look at both and see for herself what she believes.

This looks so intriguing! Thank you for sharing this. I've never heard of it before. I'm curious, how much specific doctrine is involved. For example, we are Christians who believe in Creation and Old Earth, but we do not believe in the Trinity. I'm curious if the curricula refers to Jesus specifically or any doctrine like the Trinity or anything that's sort of tied to a particular lane of Christianity?? I hope that question makes sense.
@sciencemama

Your question totally makes sense, but I'm not sure if I know for sure! From what I can gather the author is most interested in connecting and inspiring wonder at creation!

🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 I’m doing a happy dance over here. I have been looking for a science curriculum that is old earth and Christian and just prayed something would come up by the time we really need it (my kids are about about the same age as yours😅) my husband is a biologist and theological leader in our community so when we decided to homeschool apologetics and science we’re the two things he really wanted to make sure our kids were getting. So excited about this thank you!!!! Also just finished Red Rising because of your recommendation and LOVED it! I’m doing Golden Son as my April read (a laurel counts as a flower right? 😅)

Love this!!! My daughter (4th grade, 10yrs) may be ready for this level of learning by middle school, however My son (7th grade, 13yrs) struggles. We are currently doing Sonlight Science D as our main Science. Because of his age though I have been sprinkling in TGATB units. I just purchased the whole set of Real Science 4 Kids Focus on Chemistry/Biology/Geology/Physics/Astronomy to sprinkle in as well. I am trying my hardest to keep him on grade level. He honestly gives it his ALL, and it breaks his heart he has such a hard time. If you ever have time (which I know with your schedule that is somethingyou don't have lol), I would love to get your opinion about Real Science 4 Kids. It is supposedly taking college level topics and putting them into words children can understand. Thank you so much for all your videos ❤

We are going to start with the new Life Science for our oldest who will be in the 6th grade in the fall. I’m so so grateful to find an Old Earth Christian science curriculum for our family. I am so hopeful we will be able to use this curriculum for years to have a thorough, dependable upper-level science pathway.

You will have to come back and let me know how the Life Science course is because that is my plan for 6th grade for my oldest in a few years
@laurenm.6320
@laurenm.6320 6 месяцев назад
We are halfway through the course and have been very happy with it. It’s been challenging for her, mainly in the amount of writing she needs to do for the assessments since all of the weekly quizzes are cumulative (!) short paragraph questions. As the year has gone on, I have needed to jump in to give her more scaffolding to prepare for those but that has been a great chance to work on those study and writing skills together and feels very worthwhile. I just can’t realistically hold her responsible for the amount of study time she would need to put in without that help for 6th grade given some other heavy commitments we have like her robotics team. I definitely think it’s appropriate in the amount of content for 6th grade and I see the ways they have condensed to the best foundation for this age - they learn about cellular respiration and ATP but don’t go so far as to learn the term Krebs cycle, for example. I do believe she is going to walk away with a good life science foundation that will stay sufficiently in place for its purpose.

Thank you for showing this video. My daughter is going into 5th grade so we could use it as soon as next year and from I have been researching it what we are looking for. The question that I have is do you think its reusable?? I also have a 1st graders and would love to use it for them when the time comes. From what I can tell online it seams that I would just have to print the stuff twice so we can keep it on "file." I know some of the experiment kits items I would be able to reuse but possibly buy some other items.

I've just recently heard of this curriculum and was intrigued but wasn't able to find much 'inside' detailed information. Thanks so much for making this video! I did notice that the Physics first was quite different from other curriculum paths. Do you think it would really be that teacher intensive at 8th grade levels and beyond, if a child is a motivated and independent type of learner?
@sciencemama
@sciencemama Год назад
Hi Rachel! I feel like most of it would probably be pretty independent, except for maybe the experiments, they looked pretty intensive (even for me)!

Thanks for this video! Never heard of Novare. Do you see that this program can be used easily independently for the student? Do you plan on having your child use it independently? I get worried because we have several younger kids. Thanks.

My plan is to have them be mostly independent, but I'm just not quite sure ... which is why I'm still considering whether or not to start in 6th or 9th grade. Thank you for reviewing this! My daughter is going into 9th and I was interested in Novare because of their old earth Christian perspective. Unfortunately, this is going to be too intensive for my more liberal arts minded kiddo. She won’t have algebra till about 11th grade so that pretty much eliminates Novare for us. Too bad bc I would have loved to teach science with that perspective. I wish there was a more conceptual science curriculum with that perspective! As an auditory learner she does well with Apologia bc the text is on audible, but I feel like she misses out sometimes when it is strictly young earth perspective.

My daughter is very artistic. Loves math. Algebra 1 is her fave. But she absolutely HATES this science book. I also have trouble with it. Lots of the questions are not answered directly so you really have to infer quite a bit. My daughter likes to have a definitive answer. She sees me pull the book out and wants to hide under the table. I don’t mind it and some chapters are fun for me. But she hates it so much. 😓
