John Bowden Connally Jr. was an American politician. He served as the 39th governor of Texas and as the 61st United States Secretary of the Treasury. He began his career as a Democrat and later became a Republican in 1973.
On November 22, 1963, Connally was seriously wounded while riding in President Kennedy's car at Dealey Plaza in Dallas when the president was assassinated. Connally, riding in the middle jump seat of the president's limousine in front of the president, recalled hearing the first shot, which he immediately recognized as a rifle shot. He said that he immediately feared an assassination attempt and turned to his right to look back to see the president. He looked over his right shoulder but did not catch the president out of the corner of his eye, so he said he began to turn back to look to his left when he felt a forceful impact to his back. He later told the Warren Commission: "I said, 'My God, they are going to kill us all.'" He looked down and saw that his chest was covered with blood and thought he had been fatally shot. Then he heard the third and final shot, which sprayed blood and brain tissue on the car's passengers.[20] Connally suffered a fracture of the fifth rib, a punctured lung, a shattered wrist, and had a bullet lodged in his leg. He underwent four hours of surgery after the shooting and recovered from his wounds.
Doctor Charles Gregory, who tended to his wrist wound also told the Warren Commission that it went from the upper (dorsal) surface, near the midline, about five cm above the wrist joint, to the under (volar) surface, much closer to the joint, at a distance of about one and a half cm, and the 10-month investigation by the Warren Commission of 1963-1964 concluded that President Kennedy was assassinated by 24-year-old ex-Marine Lee Harvey Oswald and that Oswald had acted entirely alone. Connally refused to accept the single-bullet theory, which suggested that one shot passed through President Kennedy's neck and caused all of Connally's wounds. He insisted that all three shots struck occupants of the limousine. Publicly, he agreed with the Warren Commission's conclusion that Oswald acted alone.

You are correct. Texas US Senator Yarborough stated that LBJ was slumped way down in his seat while simultaneously listening on a walkie talkie BEFORE shots were fired. Why would the VP be listening on a walkie talkie? FURTHERMORE, I watched a RU-vid video of Walter Cronkite’s LIVE broadcast after the assassination. It was over two hours long, maybe more. On LIVE TV, Cronkite says, “A GAP SUDDENLY opened up in the motorcade just seconds BEFORE shots were fired. This sudden gap in the motorcade may have saved the VP’s life.” Apparently, Johnson’s car slowed down to almost a complete stop BEFORE shots were fired while Kennedy’s car moved right into the line of fire which Johnson’s car was able to avoid by nearly stopping…..BEFORE shots rang out. It seemed as if they knew something was about to happen. I’m surprised that Cronkite saying this isn’t talked about more. I actually heard with my own ears Cronkite say this in his live broadcast.

@@wiltchamberlainisthegoat13 Total load of BS. Johnsons didn't have a walkie talkie and he was not crouched down before the shooting started. When the first shot rang out, LBJ's Secret Servant Agent (Rufus Wayne Youngblood, Jr.) responded instantly (unlike JFK's) and jumped on top of LBJ and pushed him down into the seat and then straddle over him to protect him. In LBJ's phone conversation with J. Edgar Hoover that weekend, the new president asked questions probing how Connally was hit, like, it wasn't supposed to go down that way. J. Edgar Hoover said Connally's turning around to look at the president is what caused Connally to be in the line of fire. Thank about that.

Like any doctor would have made sure that the governor would not be in any position to talk to anyone for at least one week and maybe even more. Something was fishy back then.

He always seems a bit edgy and uncertain here, but of course he had no idea what the actual situation was other than that JFK was clearly dead from his POV. I still wonder if he had been advised by the Secret Service that he should remember it was only 3 shots all he heard was three shots, and that's all. Later he said he didn't hear one of the shots, which to me seems to imply he was trying to somehow state that in his own personal opinion, there was more than one assassin and he didn't want to compromise the nation or LBJ or his own personal political career by saying anything other than what he was supposed to agree with....

Seems no Landslide in 1948? 👇 In 1948, he was controversially declared winner in the Democratic Party's primary for the 1948 Senate election in Texas and won the general election. But if everyone from both parties pull together in President Kennedy's assassination and wake, then a Landslide is possible for "The Sake Of Our Nation", that would be destroyed by the crimes of the VP heading the President's assassination? 👇 Johnson took office on November 22, 1963, and emphasized the continuation of his assassinated predecessor, John F. Kennedy. He easily defeated a primary challenge by Governor George Wallace of Alabama, to win the nomination to a full term. At the 1964 Democratic National Convention, Johnson selected Senator Hubert Humphrey of Minnesota as his running mate. In the Republican contest Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona, a leader of his party's conservative faction, defeated liberal Governor Nelson Rockefeller of New York and Governor William Scranton of Pennsylvania. Johnson championed his passage of the Civil Rights Act, and advocated a series of anti-poverty programs collectively known as the Great Society. Although he supported previous attempts at enacting civil rights legislation in 1957 and 1960, Goldwater opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, saying it violated individual liberty and states' rights. Democrats successfully portrayed Goldwater as a dangerous extremist, most famously in the "Daisy" television advertisement. The Republicans were divided between its moderate and conservative factions, with Rockefeller and other moderate party leaders refusing to campaign for Goldwater. Johnson led by wide margins in all polls during the campaign.

Ah - huh. Notice how Connally said after the first shot he looked over his left shoulder. Never happened. You can see it right in the Zapruder film. Connelly looks over his right shoulder. Eye witness accounts by people in tragic events - especially ones that happen so suddenly and quickly, are notoriously unreliable.
@Chris.Brisson
@Chris.Brisson 7 месяцев назад
Connally, before being hit, had seen the President slumped over as a result of the first shot. Only then did a second shot occur which hit Connally. Finally a third shot hit the President again. This is exactly the sequence of events as reported by the FBI in their official report released a month later (three bullets: two hit JFK, one hit Connally). The world's best investigative agency, having all the evidence, came to a conclusion consistent with Connally's eye witness account. Only later did it become problematic for a single shooter to have hit thrice in only so many seconds. Then the story changed to include two amazing bullets: the first vanishing into another dimension without striking anything, and the second passing through two bodies, shattering bones, and ending up both lodged in Connally's leg but also found in fairly pristine condition lying on a stretcher.
@arcanondrum6543
@arcanondrum6543 7 месяцев назад
In the Zapruder Film, just past the Road Sign and umbrella man but before Connally's image passes the dark kinked man (light coat) with his arm raised but not waving, Connally is looking to his left. Connally had many injuries, the most serious of them on his right side so, after he was struck, he favored his right side much like anyone favors their injury. The W.C. was ready to count 3 bullets for all injuries however James Tague had been struck by concrete and bullet debris when a stray bullet hit the concrete curb at his feet (near the underpass). This forced the W.C. to claim that multiple injuries to Kennedy and Connally were caused by one bullet before the fatal, last shot. So, not only the image in perhaps 3 frames but also Connally speaking the very next day carries more weight with me than an objection from an unverified source 60 years later.

I've often wondered whether Connally was also a target that day. If a professional killer puts a bullet into someone it's unreasonable to think it was meant for someone else. And the full extent of Connally's knowledge of Oswald in Russia has never been adequately investigated. Regardless - he was in a tough, tough jam that day. Connally knew he was shot while he was leaning back against his wife Nellie. The bullet would have hit Jackie but she had turned and leaned toward JFK a fraction of a second before JFK was hit in the head. Connally’s narrative is a limited hangout suggesting more than one gun but it leaves the location a mystery. A good copy of the Zapruder film shows Connally’s mouth say “Oooh” when he is hit, then Connally rolls with the momentum of the bullet onto the floorboard between Nellie’s little seat and the drivers seat. The trajecty of Connally’s wounds becomes obvious if he was shot from the top of the Court Building on Houston Street while he leaned back on good old Nellie to get out of the way of the JFK head shot. Elm Street curves which is not not evident in the Zapruder film. The limousine was in the middle of the curve which made JFK vulnerable to a bullet from the storm drain about 45 feet down Elm. The limo had stopped. If you line Connally’s wounds (in the back in right arm pit, out under right nipple, in the TOP of right wrist, in left thigh - it makes sense. It’s not MAGIC anymore.

There is no such thing as a good copy of the Zapruder film. All the Zapruder films have long since been 'doctored' before being presented to the public. Of all the videos that one can see on internet channels--Zapruder Nix, etc. not one --not a single one shows the moment of the shooting as the president got hit, shows it in high definition. When Jackie climbs to the top of the back of the car you cannot clearly see her hands--all the car events are blurred. We all know that today's computers can clear it. How come no one wants to clear it?

@@brianzybura8633I think the Zapruder Film started out as CCTV on video tape, doctored, then put on 16mm film to match Zapruder’s camera. By viewing various films and photos of the limousine you see Connally leaning back against Nellie. In some you see Connally say “oooh” Then JFK gets the head shot, then the limousine accelerates. In her book LOVE FIELD Nellie Connally says she held “her John” on her lap. Impossible... Connally was lying head first between Nellie’s jump seat and the driver and Nellie fell on the other side of her seat facing Connally’s jump seat. Her jump seat was between them. The bullet meant for Jackie almost killed Connally but the facade continues to this day that Oswald was up in that window. It always comes back to that. Oswald is dead. Connolly was looking left at the driver Greer, when Greer turned to look at JFK for the third time, and over his right shoulder. I never before believed it was Greer, but now I'm sure he took that final kill shot. The trajectory is perfectly set, as you say..the street was curved and Greer was almost at a stop bc his hands were on a weapon, left hand had a white glove on. And both Connolly and Nellie were looking at the blacked out weapon. They weren't sure if JFK would survive the neck shot, and had moved almost through the yellow road markings. Greer took the shot with the cover of Kellerman next to him, and from the front pic of this, you can see the glove and arm being held steady for that final blow.
