Rewatching this at age 60 and it definitely hit different than it did when I was 33. As far as Gloria being overweight this was definitely the thought about women in 1995. You have so much wisdom and I loved your whole review of this

I relate to Robyn on the beautiful women problems when it comes to dating. You either are a trophy or your sex toy men wanna use for their fantasies until they’re done with you. It’s a hard life I live. And I’m only 20 & tbh I have given up on dating atp. I am just gonna focus on myself & growth.

I think it's even more cruel to lead your wife on thinking you love her until you decide to randomly spring on her that you leaving her for another woman. Part of the heartbreak is the confusion about what went wrong.

When you Spoke on the friendship tip about the difference between your 20s & 30s it made a lot of sense. I’m in my 20s now & I’ll be honest these girls don’t care abt female friendships only males & relationships. They be in silent or blatant competition with you envious of you just real ingenious. But I think what happens when ladies reach their 30s is they get lonely they mature & realize friendships are the holy grail if anything that is our real Support system not these relationships. Thats why I’m alone now I am considered a beautiful woman & with beauty comes great loneliness. The women hate you, are fake to you, keep you around as company for a certain look to these males. the men only act like they love you to use you sex you trophy you. . It’s a lonely thing to be attractive. People don’t see me pass my face, think my genuineness is fake & an act. That I try to portray as Perfect so they stab me first. It’s hard being a beautiful & black young lady. I’m just thankful I got back closer with my family. I don’t have friends or romantic ties due to the envy & fakeness of it all. I wanna be seen for me & now what I look like to others. But they don’t wanna see me pass it. So I choose to be alone.
