I just got a pair of the Nreal glasses. I haven't done much with them yet, but I have a scenario at my house that these are PERFECT for. my Wife and I work different shifts and I'm usually awake when shes asleep and obviously the TV in the bedroom is too bright and hard to sleep through. With these glasses I was able to still be in the room in the dark watching Netflix with my leg on hers for that "couples contact" effect and not keeping her awake. I've watched movies in there with my Oculus Quest2 but with the battery pack headstraps its just not comfortable to lay down. I'm super glad I bought these and I'm going to try them out with my steamdeck, N Switch and hopefully the windows app comes out soon too.
Wow dude, your channel name checks out, this is extremely well made and informative, I saw "20 minutes" and thought it was going to be regurgitated crap like 99% of other "tech youtubers" out there but this was worth every second, thank you so much for the informative video!
Miatopia? Lol I think you meant myopia, which is nearsightedness, that's an awesome feature because I need reading glasses to focus on anything within 3 feet with my contacts in.
These are 50% AR not full AR.. Full AR must have 6 degrees axis head tracking. Must have stereoscopice Left right eye displays for full 3d sterioscopic projection. Must have 3d objection and motion tracking. WOuld likely include, an IR sensor. WE know what true AR is suppose to deliver, and the fact is.. it does not take much to get their but be it low or high end components it must have those components.
Hey Bob, I have a question for you about the Rokid's... I wear glasses for being near-sighted, can I adjust the rokid's for poor eye sight? Or do I have to get the prescription glasses for it?
I can pin three screens with windows? Like as multiple displays? And they stay fixed in the space? Or when I turn my head do they turn with me or when I turn my head do I look at different monitors? And the monitor stay in place?
Hey Rokid! I just got my glasses recently, and I think they're awesome 👌 👏 but I noticed there's not that many apps still on your store. Are you planning to increase the amount of apps supported? This thing has a lot of potential.
Great review!! This is the first video I’ve seen comparing two AR glasses, the positives and the negatives 🙌🏾❤️ I have the nreal glasses and I love them. My critique of the nreal is that they are awesome, but it took me awhile to position my prescription lenses on the nose clips and connecting them to the nreal’s. They should add a more descriptive section in the manual on how to place them and insert them properly .
Hey Damien, that's a great point. We're working on ways to improve our prescription lens inserts. We're glad to hear that you're enjoying your Nreal Air glasses!
@@XREAL_Global I have been trying to purchase on Amazon for some time now, but they are saying that shipping is not available in Portugal. I really want these glasses.
I am not buying another TV since these are perfect for me. I no longer have to worry about glare on the TV or how bright the room is. Or how huge the TV is and the design of the room being impacted. These are so much cheaper than buying a gigantic screen TV or projector. I just bought a huge screen for my laptop and I guess I should have just saved the money to buy a cheaper laptop for gaming etc. I can see TV and computer sales being heavily impacted by these. It may sound weird but I stopped watching TV/movies and just watch my RU-vid videos. Of course I still game since I started with the text games in the 70's. You cannot beat the variety I get from RU-vid with comedy, news, music, art, economics and how to make anything. I am retired so I have seen all those movies and prefer a good book anyway. Thanks for the video. Sigh, you kids are so lucky since my first computer cost as much as a car and didn't even have a hard drive, screen or printer. I was so proud of my floppy drives and a TV was cheaper than a monitor for color display.
Thanks for making this video. These are the 2 headsets that I was looking to buy for flights and watching movies. I have the Quest 2 and don’t feel comfortable using them on plane.
This was a great video, I'd love to see more info on the software for Nreal Air. I'm hoping they will make improvements to compatibility with windows so that you can have multiple monitors hooked up in 3D space.
@@zalcandil funny cause I just saw them say there are no plans for currently which is a real bummer. Mostly cause the correct usb c protocol is so rarely implemented across windows pcs and laptops
God damn 380 dollars get the ffkkk outta here! For some novelty crap im gonna use twice and than its gonna sit on the shelf until one of my kids breaks it. For the birds.
I'm a huge fan of your tech bro and I've always wanted to see one of those AR headsets in a good demo since their emergence ....now the hard part is going to be buying/affording one.....
I brought rokid first because the price cheaper then Nreal , but then I ordered nreal , man the nreal is winning , the colour is sharp and more clear then rokid
Sent my Nreal Airs back. I found the arms created pressure points on the side of my head. They also didn't work with my phone despite my phone being on the compatible list. My optometrist also sent the lens template back to me as they were too small for them to make Rx lenses for me. Might give the Rokid a try but so far the Nreal Air glasses have been a bit of a pain and not worth it...yet. Beautiful screens but too many issues.
Getting the rokids because of the SBS 3D support. Finally a portable screen with high ppi for some pc 3d gaming goodness just like the good ol nvidia 3D vision days.
@@garyrato5938 Hi, sorry about the late answer. I have only tested the 3D on steam deck so far with Citra. The side by side 3D works as intended with one annoyance. The picture size decreases to about half. Not sure if this is due to the steam deck but will try with reshade and my pc.
@@garyrato5938 Ok, here comes the full report. I can happily announce that 3D gaming works on pc when using the Rokid, but you need mods unless the game itself supports side by side 3D (there are a few oldies that does that). To save time I bought Vorpx and it is stunning.(I also tried reshade superdepth but it was totally useless on its own). With Vorpx I played Halo Masterchief collection in full HD and fullscreen 3D. My God does it look spectacular! I tried a VR mod on resident evil 2 and while VR does not work on Rokid I could still move around in the 3D environment. It was the best 3D I have experienced outside of reality lol.
They're not really augmented reality yet I would hold off on your money I own a pair of Rokid Glasses it's pretty limited in what it can do in the Cinema mode. Wether or not nreal glasses is limited or not on what it does I would just wait until next generation glasses come out this is more for early adopters is what it looks like nothing compared to Hololens at all. Don't get baited into the hype where they're out of this world because these FMD have already existed and are being re mastered. I wish someone would make an affordable pair of video headset with a big screen non vr to watch streaming apps in
both of them looks useless. Why would I drain my eyes when i can play on my tablet, pc, steam deck or w/e? I need AR glasses with PRACTICAL stuff, that can make photos, record videos, display various useful information without blocking all of my vision. Option to display range between Y and X with up to 0.01 mm would useful as well.
Yo I’m about to be watching Netflix and driving boiiii. Jk but I do think I’m going to get a pair for traveling (as a passenger) and watching TV at night while in bed
Something that was missing from this video was putting your hand or something on the other side, to see how you can see your hand and the screen at the same time. To have a sense of what it would be to be driving and having gps at the same time
I want the nreal but i use corrective lens so i got the Rokid Air AR Glasses I know the nreal air you could get prescription inserts but thats another cost !
Id probably get the rokid specifically for the eye adjustment feature. Nreal wants you to get some 3rd party store to install perscription lenses, as if lol.
The Rokid also have the operating system that you can pin up to 3 screens that will stay in the position you place them and when you look away, they still stay where you put them until you look back toward them. More research is needed in the Rokid. It does almost the same as the Nreal.
Wireless is NOT a good idea, the batterylife would be a major problem and the WEIGHT of batteries and additional RF circuits make the glasses clumsy... Better would be to really search for a fine USB cable.
Finally a product that thought about the Android user first instead of the Apple user. I purchased the NReal AR Glasses and got them a few days ago and Wow they are the best Tech product I have purchased in awhile. The video quality is amazing. I don't leave home without them now. Just to even watch football out on my patio with this amazing crystal clear 200 inch screen in front of me is just awesome. I'm so glad I purchased these AR Glasses can't wait to use them on a flight.
I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max that uses USB-C at the bottom and not Lightning connector at the bottom. Do I still need to purchase the Nreal Air Adapter? Since I am USB-C on the bottom of this version of iPhone, I assume I can skip purchasing that adapter. Am I missing some concept here??? I also assume I absolutely don't need the Apple Lightning to Digital AV Adapter as well.
I like the Rokid Air because you can order the ultimate bundle package. Just to let you know that they are working on figuring out why it drains your devices batteries. If I were you which I'm not I've would've waited for an update on the Rokid Air just like your mobile devices send out updates to keep things smooth and safe and gives more stuff to work with you have android devices or ios devices. Just keep doing the reviews. You could've let Rokid know why the Rokid Airs are draining your devices batteries and hopefully they'll fix it.
Okay, please help me out here: Maybe I am not aware or got it wrong: I watched some reviews. Some said "There are no batteries in the glasses, so you always have to connect it to a device." Yet, why should I load it then and why using BT or Wfii, if i'd need a connection anyways??
Nreal Air look amazing as I can go unnoticed in a cafe, on a train, driv...erm, in the office. I have a Moto with a 5 day battery, such a shame this won't work with it. I used an Oculus Go for ages but the resolution was poor. This is amazing. Is this the best resolution for portable media?
I wanted to get glasses to work on. The nreal ones had patches of blurry text. I got replacements and they were still blurry. I'm a bit afraid to try rokid, but if someone can say they have clear text I'd get them
I wonder if I could use these with my ATN Thor 4 or X-Sight 4K Pro. I may have to run the scope through the Obsidian app on the phone and Mirror it on the Glasses. Any Thoughts on this
Hi I m from Portugal I m blind on left eye and only see 1/10 on left eye. , but I can see through the iPhone screen. I need a smart glasse that send to the left lense a screen and see trough that screen in glasse. With that brightness and contrast I m autonomus. This glasses can do this? Tks
I have been trying to purchase on Amazon for some time now, but they are saying that shipping is not available in Portugal. I really want these glasses.
Wanted to know about the experience while watching a video is it really 120 inches screen?? And if the screen is too close how a big screen come in field of view..
To avoid battery draining from your device you will have either to wait for nreal to release the direct power they have in mind to add to the adapter they sell, or waste a lot of money in a hub with a 'USB-c video secondary' port (one of them being the dell wd19 or wd19s, the s being the new one with no 3.5 audio jack, cause they suck)
great video! still trying to decide on which to get. I love how the rokid has the adjustment for near sighted people. I am near sighted. I also love seeing rokid responding to comments to this video. Shows they're active and eager to improve their products. I think the video stated that nreal are more proactive working with other companies like apple and working on other projects to expand their market. Hopefully rokid will catch up to that. But seeing rokid's comments is making me lean towards them more. If Rokid reads my comments, any idea on if you guys will be adding a built in camera to the glasses? I'm thinking if it adjusts to near sightedness, if adding a camera to it, I don't need to buy a glasses anymore. I can view the video feed that is adjusted to my vision. Also Rokid, would you guys be adding that black out cover like nreal for the full "vr" experience? Thank you
Hey there! We feel inspired by your comment, we appreciate the great discussions from those in the AR community. With AR wearables being an emerging form of tech, we're always looking at how we can improve our products, that's why we appreciate these comments. The AR community is very important to us, whether or not they use our products, so we take every bit of feedback and use it to make what we do at Nreal even better.
@@XREAL_Global hey glad to see a response from nreal! I hope to see the adjustment for near sightedness. I also want to see the nebula app expand to windows and iOS. Just so strange that it is only on android phones. How are android phones capable and a full windows computer is not capable of the nebula app. Anyways love both of these ar glasses. Hope to see more progress!
@@Psychetwo Thanks for the feedback Mike! Our AR Space is powered through Androids with Snapdragon. We're working hard on how we can expand our compatibility 😎
Hi Mike, thanks for the great advice and your support! It means a lot to us! Regarding your questions, please see our comments below: 1. Our hardware designers have read this - we will think hard about it and hopefully come up with something to better the diopter adjustment to cope with different people's eye vision. 2. Yes, we do have the blackout covers available now on our online store, and we are preparing to giving out free units to our verified customers in the community. Feel free to check them out! If you have any questions, please let us know. We are looking forward to having more discussions with you in the near future.
You should definitely not be driving with any of these over your face. If you cause a wreck on the road, that is 100% distracted driving and not only dangerous but stupid. Screens in cars are bad enough, this is just ridiculous
From what I can find, it depends. If you're mirroring your screen, nreal is running in the foreground so it doesn't, but if you're using something like Samsung Dex to stream a movie, it'll work even if the phone is locked
