Can you ask Pearcy if any qld players ever congratulated him after he won his first series ? Big fan of the show and a big fan of Pearce. A top player who gave it his all.
Yeh I reckon that's why ya can't have lockyer coz freddy was just as good also cronk and Thurston would be even so the only immortal can be smith but the rest HOF
I think the argument of celebrating 50 games or not shouldn’t be bothering people all that much, I think with social media at clubs it’s more to connect the fans and bring them closer to their players. And to some players 50 may be as big an effort as 300 for some for instance Jayden Berrell. Love the work every week legends 👑
They changed the selection criteria to only 3 years retired to be an immortal, Smith is a certainty. I disagree but that is the way it is. So many players from years ago should be first, you know the names, I think it should be at least a decade after retirement.
Here's the NRL Immortals criteria: Exceptional Skill and Impact: The player must have demonstrated extraordinary skill and had a significant impact on the game. Longevity: A considerable career in the sport, often with outstanding performances over many seasons. Achievements: Success at the highest levels of the game, including premierships, representative honors (such as State of Origin or international games), and individual awards. Influence and Legacy: The player should have left a lasting legacy, influencing the game both on and off the field. Character: The player's conduct and sportsmanship should reflect the values of rugby league. Cam Smith ticks every box except the first one IMO.
The amount of missed tackles the dogs make makes them so dangerous. All the teams are so structured with how they play, you saw with Penrith when NAS went to the bin Wishart asked heaps of questions creating chaos it cost Penrith. All the missed tackles the dogs make they handle the chaos better than anybody with the check and release system that they know so well I swear these boys would dream about staying in the system and getting their handshake from Critta.
Thinking about other Poms being inducted in the Hall of Fame after the indiction of Sam Burgess. Who else do you think makes the cut? Gareth Ellis had a massive impact, James Graham and Adrian Morley also stand out. Listen to the show religiously every week from the North of England (Wakefield) best podcast around. You guys hit it right every episode and talk so much modern game sense. Matt
Great show lads. Just with all immortal talk. Will there ever be a non half or fullback ever put in going forward. As the game now is with social media and tv is based round them positions and with so much structure it’s hard for anyone to really get any big credit As someone like bizza or Yeo, there careers are unbelievable but will never be considered
Always love seeing mitch on the show! I’m a mad knights supporter so having the og and triple og on the show is great! I know you lads are gonna touch on the storm Penrith game and the obstruction try in the first half! Just wanted to get your opinion on the rule in general as it seems to be a big talking point and leaving abit of a sour taste in a lot people’s mouth, with numerous try’s getting pulled up and the next week them getting awarded !? Or is it the fact that certain teams or players know they have been beat so do the big dive into the block runner throwing there hands up hoping to get called back!? Also big shout out to Josh king celebrating his 150th on the weekend 😂
Could Nathan Hindmarsh be considered for Hall of Fame? Sorely underrated, Possibly too many people take his media personality into account but 300+ gamer in the middle too. (Not even a Parra fan)
@droctagon3k Please..All those players in the Pacific nations used to play for a combined NZ and made them stronger. Same when we used to play Great Britain instead of England. SOO and AU rugby league isn't what it used to be by objective global standards. Facts. SOO has been reduced, at one stage, to a trial of the fourth best nation in the world. Something no one else has ever achieved.
If Peter Sterling is not made an immortal before any other NRL era player then the concept lacks credibility. I they were fair dinkum, Sterlo would have been made immortal when Jonhs got it, then Johns would be in line for it now.
Hey boys, love the poddy. If you could make a team using 1 player across all positions how games in a row would 17 Greg Inglis’ win. If he wasn’t stuck behind Slater he would’ve been the greatest FB of all time.
Don’t forget about Darren Lockyer when you’re talking about an immortal , just look at his stats puts Andrew John’s to shame . Plus he mastered two positions how many immortals have done that???
Fully sick pod as always, legends! Apologies for this long asf take on SJ 😅 as he has been my favorite player to watch since his debut in 2011. I'm not too convinced he will get into coaching (not saying he wouldn't kill it) but NZs rugby league media has never been in the best shape and he would be a huge improvement of talent in that department. (No shade to Blairy and Monty) but it needs work, to say the least. Also, I always wished my WARRIORS would have helped Johnson out throughout his career as they never really recruited a proven senior playmaker to help him develop his halfback play. Besides a short partnership with Foz and at one point Jeff Robson, which didn't click at all. It seemed to take him all up until last season for him to become a complete and consistant halfback. And all of the leg injuries certainly didn't help. Levels = #1 footy pod!
In the history of big hits, dog hits and all things grubby - where does Melb storms Danny Williams hit on Mark O’neil land? And are there any that stick in your mind like that one does for me.
Should the announcement of the NRL hall of fame inductees be done throughout the Dally M medals? They can have these new inductees into the hall of fame presenting awards to the current players winning awards throughout the ceremony, make an actual spectacle of the situation and if the NRL announce a new immortal then they can present the Dally M medal to the winner for that season. They can attach the hall of fame to something meaningful instead of just doing some stupid willy nilly announcement on a Tuesday in August.
hey lads. Loving the content. Just want some clarification on Lachy Galvin in this Dally M race. I know he got suspended at the start of the season which ruled him out of rookie of the year contention. But does that count for five-eighth of the year contention? Also, if he is eligible, is he a smokey in your eyes? Cheers legends!
@@Leafy653 Been better defensively that all 4 of them statistically this season and has been a clear standout in a spoon side this season. To be one of the in-form 6's in a bottom side is way more impressive than being an in-form 6 in a top 4-8 side.
@@biglezsleagueytpodcastoldacc he’s shined in a poor team yes, but do you think Galvin would’ve been better than Luai in origin? Dearden and Burton have both been awesome too they’re in the top 8 and have both had pivotal roles in that. Galvin has huge potential though I think luai will teach him heaps next year
@@Leafy653 Galvin is in his first full year in first grade and is 18. Luai is a 3 time premiership winning 6. What I do think is that if you were to put Galvin into any one of the Cowboys, Bulldogs, or Panthers at 6 they would have similar success. Not saying they would be the same, but similar success. As I said before, I think it is more impressive what Galvin has been able to dish up this season than what the other 6's in top 8 sides have. I also think that Galvin has been the most consistent 6 this season.
Hey boys. I want to start with saying no disrespect to athletes, their training or accomplishments but in regards to olympians pays i think its basic economics. People watch the olympics once every 4 years, besides that they dont offer much for sponsors to pay for. Nrl play 8 games a week for 30 weeks a year offering alot of content .hence why they can raise more revenue , pay players better money and have more competition to get that pay packet. If they offered more content that interested more people they could raise more money and they would be payed more. Respectfully
You don’t get Penrith vs Storm for the minor premiership tonight without that disgusting obstruction call on the eels that resulted in the win. Coincidence I think not Para seasons finished who cares hey
