Thank you Dr Berry, I had no idea and was taking ibuprofen for years for all sorts of pain, then I got cediff, in the hospital for a week, not one Dr while I was in the hospital said stop using it!! So I took it once I got home, got soo sick, researched cdiff & first thing it says DON'T take ibuprofen!!! The medical community has failed us miserably
Your last line couldn't be more true! I've been a nurse for 31 years now and can't help but notice most doctors are just puppets of the system perpetuating sickness. Thank God doctors like Dr Berry are not afraid to speak up and actually HELP pts!
I got Cdiff too but my GI did tell me to quit taking it! He was a little younger and very open to even listening to all my research on the matter. But most doctors who have been around for a while don’t take into account any newer research!
My c.diff was triggered by 2 consecutive rounds of doxycycline for a needed root canal. Thankfully it's never come back but dropping 45 lb in a month and developing central serrous retinopathy on vancomycin for the cdiff wasn't fun.
Pharmaceutical are junkie pill poppers, natural herbal herbal remedies all the way , if everyone has natural remedies, big Pharmaceutical will be out of business
A sports medicine specialist told me I could take double doses of daily celecoxib for arthritis knee pain, so I did. For 20 years. It caused massive calcification of my heart and exacerbated liver dysfunction. Since I quit eating carbs, my inflammation has faded away. I'm hoping it will help heal my heart as well.
You are spot on Dr. Berry! My dad was told by his dr to take Aleve naproxen for years for arthritis. He also had to take blood pressure meds. He developed a huge ulcer on his stomach that he didn't know about until it burst open an artery that apparently became attached also. He died from internal bleeding that night. I wish we had more doctors like you Dr. Berry. Thank you! 💚
It's important to show compassion to people who are desparate for pain relief. There is an old saying that's profound, (Try living in someone else's shoes before passing judgement ) Medical lectures can help educate people and empower them with knowledge. However they don't translate to giving people relief from exhausting chronic sever pain. There is also a problem with access to legit pain meds in some countries.
I was a competitive lifter and I was constantly taking aspirin, ibuprofen and celebrex in large doses for years. Luckily no kidney damage but I take medication for hypertension which I have battled for years. I get my labs taken and I have near perfect values and no explanation as to why my blood pressure continues to be high. I did discover this information about nsaids some years ago but it is good to see an informative video on the subject. Thanks.
Dr Berry has done an interesting vid about BP. He thinks that the stardard numbers could be low for most people, and if you are a big person then you might need a larger BP naturally. 140/90 is not bad if you are a tall wide person.
Check out Dr. Barrie Tan's vitamin E (tocotrienols). Also look into a supplement called Astaxanthin. Taking these two supplements has helped me feel so much better.
You should consider looking into breathing exercises for people with high blood pressure. You basically have use your chest to breath in slowly to regulate blood pressure? If you're anxious and suck in air, then you're doing yourself a disservice.
I have found that one teaspoon of black organic seed oil in my black coffee in the morning helps lower my BP. Also, I eat a can of Icelandic cod liver with the oil on a salad once a week helps with BP.
How is your hearing though? That's why I stopped taking ibuprofren was the fear of hearing loss. This is rarely discussed on videos that talk about the side effects
Thank you Dr Berry for your transparency. I am a 42 wife and mother of 2. We educate them in our home. I experience the grieving symptoms of a rare neuromuscular disease. It is genetic with mutations on several gene strands. My doctor who me I’d seen since in HS put me on so many medications over the years, but at one point I was on 6 drugs, meloxicam being one of them plus I would pop 4 alieve daily. My doctor knew this. I experienced many of the symptoms you speak of. My vitamin D was a whopping 4. Fast forward I am in a new private office. We have real conversations and it has been so freeing to take back control of my health. I can’t change the weakness, spasming which is so intense at times I vomit. Then when a periodic paralysis episode triggers it becomes an entirely different thing. Began going off meds slowly. I did not need them and they were causing other conditions. Began Keto and I’m down 52 lbs from July 11th. Prior to that I had lost 36lbs so I have lost 88 lbs since 2018. Stick with it. I can’t change the past but I can make changes to better my health now. Thank you Dr Berry for sharing the truth.
True, Ive had both legs, arms and back broken and have bad pain from the arthritis in them. And I'm kinda allergic to pain. So what to use if not these basic meds that doctors tells me to take.
My niece died of liver damage in 2019 she took NSAIDs like eating candy , she had migraines for yrs, also after undergoing a Breast Reduction she suffered from pain , she died before getting a new liver ,she weighed around 90 lbs when she died ! I hope people understand how serious taking over the counter pain medication can be, it can kill you!
I would say that OTC aspirin, etc also did my Dad in. He lived to 79, but he drank aspirin multiple times daily in his 40s and 50s for severe headaches, that caused bleeding. He never saw a doctor or hospital until he fainted from loss of blood when he was 54. His health status from 40 to 79 was not the best, and it deteoriated in the last seven years.
Good to hear a doctor that does not push pills and meds, folks lived in good health throughout all of history without any of that stuff. Now we got people living on 30 different supplements a day.
As a nurse I had a young man in his 20s who was taking nsaids daily for over a year. He ended up on dialysis. Then I had a young woman who had gastric bypass surgery. She was taking NSAIDs and ended up dying from a bleeding ulcer. She said no one ever told her not to touch NSAIDs after gastric bypass.
I saw this report. Ugh!!! I suspected that, as they are prostaglandin inhibitors - all of them, including the good ones, but I took them daily for years! I now have 2 new hips and a knee. Thanks to you, I've been carnivore for 2 months now, and I feel so much better! The first thing I noticed was a calm that settled over me. Then pain went away. I've only taken NSAID twice in that time (airport walking days). And, I've lost 13 lbs thus far. Thank you for your good work!
I am 70 with arthritis and it has gotten worse with age! I take turmeric, boswellia, and bromelain almost daily and it helps but on a bad day I have to take a NSAID and and when I do it takes the pain away for up to two days. I wish there was something better health wise than NSAIDS!
I had a bad ankle and shin break when I was 12. I was put on a prescription anti inflammatory right after I got the casts off. I took NSAIDS for years having to get off of them twice to heal from multiple gastric ulcers. The last time I was prescribed NSAIDS I ended up developing heart failure. I will never take them again.
I was just diagnosed with severe enemia for the third time in 5 years. I take ibuprofen daily for my R.A. it was never mentioned to me that ibuprofen could be causing enemia. 🤦♀️ I think I shall attempt to get this stuff out of me. Thanks! ❤️
Try curcumin the active ingredient in turmeric, it’s a wonderful natural anti-inflammatory. Also change diet to healthy low carb - cut out all grains, sugar, seed/veg oils (highly inflammatory) and processed foods and eat more protein, fibre and good fats from grass fed animal products. RA can be managed without rx drugs.
@@sunmoonstars3879 I have been on Keto for 3 years now and while I've had tremendous success with it, I need pain relief daily. I've had R A. Since I was 27 and was diagnosed with Lupus a few years ago. Turmeric never worked for me, but I have cut out thr ibuprofen since watching this video. Thanks though.
I also took nsaids for years to survive the pain from R.A. After a severe anemia for wich I had to take a blood transfusion I stopped the drugs. Now I"am totally pain free.
Healing Cascade. So important and most folks have no idea (not their fault). We learned about this when I was studying massage therapy. NSAIDs also are not good for the pain/spasm cycle. Treat the issue not the symptom. I used to get regular unexplained headaches that I would suffer through without taking anything unless they got to the point where I had to go lay down in a dark room and sleep for a day. However, since I started Keto about 2.5 years ago, and now leaning even more Keto-vore this last year, those headaches are just about a thing of the past. Now if I get a headache it is due to an overuse issue most likely (shoulder/neck). Thanks for the solid info Dr Berry.
Thank you doctor Berry for this great video. I knew they were bad for you but having hip pain I’ve been taking them. Thanks for the reminder. I’m going to stop today. No more, before i cause more damage. I going to Get on my inversion table daily. I love you and your wife for how much you tell us all the truth and protect us from harm. Thank you so much. You are really saving lives. Your the best.
The veterans administration was passing out anti-inflammatories to me by the truckload. They even had me on steroidal anti-inflammatories that's when I said enough. I didn't need a doctor to tell me it was going to kill me, I came to that conclusion on my own. I still live with relentless pain and will take Advil no more than four pills in 48 hours. Once in awhile I just need to take the edge off. Thank you for your information backing up what I've known for a long time.
Great timing doc, I hadn’t taken anything in the past year until last week. Slept wrong and my upper shoulder has been very painful. Can’t raise my arm. Started ibuprofen. Guessing I’ll not do so again today. 👍 Thanks Dr Berry!
Probably not your problem but when your right arm hurts, it could be your bile is too thick or your duct is clogged up. There are several videos on this, and the gentle massaging will make the pain go away almost instantly.
Great video Dr. Berry. I had two bad kidney markers in a row and had to see a nephrologist but couldn't get in for 2 months. Stopped the NSAIDS and went Carnivore and by time I got in to see him markers were completely normal. He asked why I was there and then suggested a vegetarian diet. Haven't been back.
Find the root cause and address it if possible. Something like joint degeneration, they can heal with proper diet, supplementation. Consumption of plants (as food) has been shown to cause inflammation/pain for many (anecdotes), people sharing their experiences on Dr. Shawn Baker's channel.
HAVE YOU TRIED CBD??? Joking, joking. It's pretty infuriating sometimes being a chronic pain patient and people think they're being helpful by suggesting CBD, tai chi and sprinkling extra tumeric* on your food when it's like...I have uncontrolled inflammatory arthritis and damage to the very upper part of the spinal cord that affects how I perceive pain, as well as multiple disc bulges compressing the spinal canal and impinging on nerve roots. I have anaphylaxis to all NSAIDs now after years of hoofing them to deal with the pain. It's...extremely odd to say the least that in all these videos, nobody in the comments wants to admit that sometimes opioids ARE the answer *as the active anti inflammatory part of curcumin does not cross the blood brain barrier, it needs to be in a liposomal format to actually do anything
Thank you for the great video. I used to take NSAIDs for my migraines. Sometimes I took two or three pills together, mostly ibuprofen. After years, I developed some sort of reactions that I thought is allergies. I stopped using all of these medications. But now that I watched this video and read some of the comments I suspected it is because of kidney damage. Gladly, I got my migraine under control by taking magnesium supplements and going on the keto diet. I wish I knew all of these about NSAIDs before ...
In 1995 I was put on 1800 mg per day of Ibuprofen for fibromyalgia pain. That lasted about a year. Then I started experiencing what seemed to be worsening fibro symptoms. In addition I was becoming unable to eat my usual amount of food. I almost chose to not go to the doctor about it thinking it was just the fibro. He sent me for some tests including a liver assessment. I got a call from him later that evening asking me to stop taking all my medications and go for another liver assessment. The initial test result was 700 the second was nearly that high. I was sent to a hospital in Philadelphia and their diagnosis was chemical hepatitis. I distinctly remember him saying that I came within a half an inch of losing my liver. I was put on a 6 week wash out. No meds at all. Wow! That was tough. But I was lucky.
Good job, Dr. explaining this. First-hand testimony these damaged my kidneys, and I was not taking as many much amounts but consistently for a few years.
I’m 59 and have had joint pains because of gout and arthritis for more than 15 years. I stopped taking carbs and other foods that’ll increase my blood sugar. If I feel good, I fast between 36-72 hours. No more gout or arthritic attacks. No more inflammation. Of course damage is done. My joints still look a bit enlarged. Only six months into this new lifestyle. Hopefully see more improvement on the long run.
In 2020, I fell off a bicycle and landed on my left wrist. I remembered your video on R.I.C.E. and followed your advice. I only took an anti-inflammatory to help me sleep the first night and I did regular applications of heat or hot water baths. I have had no issues with the wrist since then.
@@euhdink4501 very lucky. I've seen two "orthopedic doctors" (in quotes because their advice has been terrible) that told me just to do 3 month courses of NSAIDs for an Achilles injury.
I took ibuprofen for years like candy. I was in a lot of pain I have psoriatic arthritis but with no diagnosis my doctors kept telling me I just had osteo and continue to take ibuprofens. Eventually my luck ran out with these pills I started hemorrhaging and had five pints of blood/blood transfusion due to five bleeding ulcers from taking NSAIDs for years. After my surgery of cauterizing all the ulcers to stop the bleeding he told me no more NSAIDs Ever again. He said my only friend is Tylenol arthritis and take no more than recommended. One year later I received my diagnosis for psoriatic arthritis. Now I am on a biologic and rarely take Tylenol and have never touched ibuprofen again.
I took naproxen daily for years while working floor nursing in LTC. Had a near textbook bowel perforation. Followed by surgery and a five day vacation in ICU. My primary missed the cause. It was the gastro who figured it out by asking me questions. It has a BLACK BOX warning and we give it out like candy. Very scary.
Sorry, but my choice is taking my every other day NSAID or being non-functional from pain. I AM healing from going carnivore and look forward to stopping it when the pain is more tolerable. I did stop it for a few months, but had to start again because my fibromyalgia ramped up to non-functional levels again. I'm also going to push back a little on allowing severe inflammation to continue. I've seen the damage that causes, too. Mitigating the inflammation so that the body can use it for healing is a better approach, especially if you can do that through more natural means.
I have fibro too and migraines. I have found that fast walking one mile on my treadmill before I go to bed every night, helps to relax the muscles so I sleep better. I've been doing it now for 2 months and really noticing a difference. Also I drink nothing but coffee, unsweet fruit flavored teas, and water. No juice or sugary sodas.
Thanks for speaking on this DrBerry! I developed ulcers from taking Ibuprofen in my 30s. Thought I’d try again in my late 40s and now I have a sensitivity to it, it makes me cough uncontrollably. My husband was prescribed Naproxen daily for years along with a muscle relaxer and it made his kidney labs go completely out of whack and he had to stop taking both. My osteoarthritis is improving with ketovore, I think
Thank you Dr Berry. I was just heading to the store and was going to restock my ibuprofen. I don’t take regularly but just had knee surgery and because I won’t take pain meds, I was told to take anti inflammatory for swelling/ stiffness. I have a high pain tolerance so mild pain, therefore this reminded me to let the natural healing process to take over. Helpful 😊
My grandma raised 9 kids on her own with several jobs, she took OTC pain pills nearly every day of her adult life. Even on a decent diet her kidneys failed and she had to have dialysis for over a decade before she passed. The only time I took ibuprofen was when my tooth was rotting out of my jaw until I could get a root canal, I don't bother with anything anymore. Sleep is the best pain med!
I can't sleep because I'm in such severe pain, or the pain wakes me up several times during the night. My doctor prescribed Cymbalta and said it was totally fine to take Ibuprofen as needed with it. Not one of my many doctors has ever said lay off the Motrin
You are referring to an acute situation. I did the same when my wisdom teeth were pulled. Different story when the pain never goes away. Imagine your rotting tooth pain as a weekly occurrence for decades with no solution.

Hi Dr. Berry! From a channel that produces great content on a regular bases, this one was outstanding. I will be sharing the hell out of this one. Thanks!
Hi Dr. Berry! Until 5 days ago, I was a proud pill free person. Only if the pain was excruciating and interfered with my ability to function would I take an Advil. (About 3 - 5 pills every 20 years.) 8 years ago I took an interest in food and boycott foods with paragraphs of unpronounceable ingredients. 4 years ago I started a meat based, grain free, low carb, high fat diet and lost 60 lbs. No more arthritic pain, diabetic procedures, sleep apnea, warts, chronic stomach cramps, brain fog and the list of health benefits goes on. I felt as if I found the fountain of youth. 5 Days ago I was in unbearable pain from elbow to elbow, through my triceps, across my chest, collar to diaphragm. I couldn’t find a comfortable position or massage it out. So, I took an Advil to no avail. “Call 911.” On the operating table I was informed that I was having a heart attack. Before an hour from the 911 call, there were two heart stents installed in one of my pulmonary arteries. Now, I have a pharmacy of unpronounceable medicine that I’m to take every day: ASA, Bisoprolol Fumarate, Pantoprazple Sod EC, Ticagrelor, Perindopril Erbumine, and Atrovastatin. And I come across this presentation of how daily ASA is not wise. I just want to cry. I’m a long time subscriber of your channel and hope to be a long time subscriber for years to come. I respect what you say, but where do I go from here? How can I become a proud survivor? I’m only 69.
Ok, I get it about the NSAID’s and have stopped taking daily 15mg Meloxicam. I have been carnivore for 120 days and things are better. But, my thumb joints and lower back are very painful without the med. I’m hydrated, losing weight like crazy and my bone on bone knees and sciatic nerve pain has stopped, for which I am grateful (including going off Gabapentin!) What should I be doing now? The back and thumb joint pain is killing me and keeps me from doing life. Help! Thoughts anyone?
@@FreeGirl9608 I have thumb joint pain have found that massaging liquid iodine onto the joint area has relieved the pain and stiffness. I had gotten to the point where I could not hold a pen or write without difficulty, but after applying iodine every night before bed, this pain cleared up. Hope this helps!
A few years back I injured my lower back and was in severe pain. The closest similar pain I've experienced was when I had a nerve in a tooth die. The pain was so bad I could only work for a couple of hours each day before I could hardly function. Of course, I was taking Ibuprofen and aspirin and taking a lot of them. Then I got a cold and took my usual dose of bedtime Nyquil. The end result was a nosebleed that wouldn't quit. It went on for four hours as a steady drip, drip, drip. Eventually, I just stretched out on the floor with a coffee cup under my nose while I read "The Ponder Heart' and dripped into the cup. It was nearly full before the nose bleed quit. After that I quit all of the pain relievers and when I had a headache I simply drank a cup of espresso and waited for it to go away. Oddly, the back pain which had been with me for months went away after 4 nights of sleeping on the floor with an electric heater blowing on my back and it hasn't been back. A friend of mine injured his back in much the same way and in the same area and he had surgery. It mostly fixed his back but he is still taking pain meds to "manage" it. Oh-I also finished the book about the time the nose bleed stopped.
I took Advil every six hours day/night for several years because of chronic pain in my joints. I started intermittent fasting three years ago and my pain stopped within a couple of weeks. I can’t remember the last time I took anything for pain. Side note. That was completed with intermittent fasting ONLY! I have only recently started Keto. Imagine the healing that can take with fasting AND the proper human diet!🤯
I shudder to think about how much Ibuprofen I took years ago when I started having hip pain. Happy I did not have any problems after that and am pain free after 2 total hips and 2 torn rotator cuffs in 6 years. Also happy that I was able to get off stronger pain meds with no problems.
3 years ago, I was T-boned at 180kmph in my driver's side by a guy evading police. 22 fractures &other injuries. I'm 50, been on carni 5.5 months. Boy oh boy what a learning curve to say the least!
My husband took the max dosage + of Naproxen every single day for 30 years. He would not hear anything against it. "It is an OTC drug so it has to be perfectly safe." He had many chronic medical issues with his liver, kidneys, heart and lungs. Even if, by some miracle, the Naproxin didn't cause those issues, it didn't help them.
This rings true with me… After decades of taking multiple antibiotics and ibuprofen to relieve incredible sinus pain and migraine pain, I now have stage three kidney disease. I am following Dr. fangs suggestions for trying to rescue my kidneys using IF and low carbs… We’ll see where it goes.
OMG this is sooo informative.... I have bad back pain... ( SI joint is bone on bone ) All my Dr said was to be careful with taking NSAIDS as they can be rebounding ( Not sure how to phrase it to others - except that if you over use NSAIDS or pain killers - the body creates more pain / in turn you take more meds... ) Hope I worded that correctly.... I also have Chronic Non alcoholic liver disease as well as Stage 3a Chronic Kidney disease with a EGFR of 49.... BUT no one ever said pain meds could be the culprit or at least make it worse.... THANK YOU for the info Dr. Berry...
It would be great if you could get on the faculty at Vanderbilt University Medical School, or another prestigious university medical schools to train the next generation of providers. Your channel is great, thankful you here in Tennessee !
Back in my 20’s my OBGYN gave me Motrin 800 like candy. It’s a miracle I didn’t get liver or kidney problems from the amount I took. Thanks for the video Dr. Berry. Blessings 💜🙏🏼
Brilliant commentary doc. I heard these could be hard on the body but yes, doctor recommended ... "safe and effective." Wow not so (like so much). No wonder my BP stayed high... I had a hip replacement and thought I was doing great getting off of Hydromorphine and taking Tylenol and Advil two to three times a day for over a year! 20 months later, I am still limping. Sigh ... stopping now.
Ok well this explains a lot!! So I’ve injured myself permanently from NSAIDS, what can I do about it? Or am I doomed to suffer? If anyone has a protocol for healing from the use of NSAIDS I’d love to hear it🙂
*Thank you ,Dr.Berry!:D I needed this video! As an Aspie, I had history of taking the wrong quality/quantity of certain pills, but now I m taking the right ones!* 💊 *Also, thank you for the true definition of inflammation, which is part of the healing cascade! :D Doctor Strange was right: Pain is an old friend.*
At one time I was taking 5 to 10 per day because I was hurting so bad. Ended up hurting my kidneys but I'm almost better now and don't take anything much anymore.
I was told all of my 75 years to take Tylenol for any pain. Suddenly😂 I was diagnosed with liver disease!! So I started researching and Dr Barry and his teaching ( and Neisha) are helping me heal. It’s a hard thing for me to undo my carb addiction, but it’s making a difference!
Dr. Berry your video took me back to my mom telling me to "walk it off" whenever I got a boo boo. Funny thing is, I say the same thing to my daughter. Honestly, it works! Great information as usual. Be well.
I was in a bad car accident and have severe back damage (neck to tail bone!) My doctor has prescribed 800 mg of ibuprofen twice a day. Sometimes, when I have spasms, I need more (much more!) than that. I've recently moved to a more ketogenic diet and lowered my a1c from 7.5 to 5.9. However, I have been diagnosed with an inflamed gall bladder. They want to remove it. I am 73 years old. I love bacon, I love butter, but I've cut back substantially on those in order to prevent spasms due to gall bladder attacks and have moved to an almost exclusively carnnivore diet with some leafy greens. I would prefer not to have the surgery, but the pain is often so great that it might be a relief. Kidney levels, liver levels, even cholesterol levels all seem within normal range. I try to keep my fat grams below 60 and my daily carbs below 50 grams. Any ideas about 1) should I avoid gall bladder removal and how do I do that? and 2) could you recommend a list of supplements? We live in New Mexico, but if we lived in San Antonio, I would definitely try to become a patient! My PCP is very much aware of your videos and is very open to all your thoughts.
That gallbladder pain is the worst. I didn't want to get mine taken out and tried controlling it with diet. But I finally succumbed to surgery after a really bad attack. I've felt so much better ever since. 👍
Look into Bio salts....and castor oil packs.....if it's just inflamed...you may need to look into the lion diet ... You do not NEED to need to have it removed. Yes we need to change diet but you also need to make sure everything else is in balance. Dr Berry has some other videos about the gallbladder. Check them out...good luck. ❤️
That’s all very well for acute inflammation but surely chronic inflammation is a very different story. I’ve had chronic joint or muscle pain occasionally and seen physiotherapists etc. and nothing worked but a seven day course of anti-inflammatories fixed it.
My mother took a lot of ibuprofen and pain relievers. She passed away from kidney failure. My father took a lot of ibuprofen too. He also passed from kidney failure 5 years after my mother. I rarely take any pain relievers, only when I have a migraine headache or severe pain. I’ve told many to be careful when taking NSAIDS, ECT. Thank you Dr. Berry.
That's awful.. both parent's dead bc of pain relievers. I always found, a cold wash cloth with some apple cider vinegar on the wash cloth, relieves migraines.
I take only when it's bad plain and take a kidney cleanser to help repair the damage afterwards. Same if I take medicine that damages my liver. The trouble is you can't feel the damage to these organs until it's too late.
I took daily NSAIDS for many chronic pain issues for decades. I thought I had a cast iron stomach because nothing ever seemed to bother it. Then suddenly without prior symptoms... that I knew of. Not only was I anemic for years and had high blood pressure, but was never told there could be a connection. I also ended up with a sudden severe stomach bleed that almost killed me. The ER docs told me if I waited till morning to come in, I wouldn't have made it.
I was on a lot of daily ibuprofen for years for arthritis. I always had a tough stomach. Not anymore. I feel like it ruined my stomach and bowels. Been off for 6 mos now. I use Tylenol only now.
Great info Dr. Berry. Is low dose Aspirin considered an NSAID? I was taking one daily until I read the bottle (after watching this) and it said NSAID 😮
Having had prostate surgery 10 years back, I find that two Advil daily allows me to get at least 3-4 hours uninterrupted sleep each night. The anti-inflammatory effect apparently allows my bladder to hold that much more before I'm awakened. The alternative is to go back for yet another surgical procedure that may or may not fix the problem, or cause other additional problems like retrograde ejaculation and worse.
So are you saying that possible early death due to renal failure is a preferable outcome? Think about that. Did you not absorb one bit of wisdom from this video? 😮
@@diogenesthedawg9172 No, I quit taking Advil about 7 months back, and now have blocks of 2 to 2-1/2 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night. Of course, there are those that say sleep deprivation can cause all sorts of other serious health issues (anti-cancer-fighting chemicals compromised etc.), but apparently we're all going to die of something. In your case, possibly condescension.
WOW! I was taking an NSAID on the regular for ankle pain. I landed in the hospital in April of this year with a BP on 246/201. My iron level was extremely low and I has double vision in my left eye. I'm never taking any NSAID again.
I was recommended to take 800 mg of ibuprofen for 2 weeks for jaw pain by my dentist. It worked, but then I started using it for knee and shoulder pain Fairley often, which has now resulted in stage 3 chronic kidney disease. High blood pressure has probably affected my kidneys also. NSAIDs are not as benign as we've been led to believe.
So no more Ice on a sore ankle or lower back even within the first 24 hours of the injury (as we've been told so often in the past) @KenDBerryMD? And is this also covered in "Lies My Doctor Told Me"? I am going to order that for myself but also for some of my hard headed family members who need some serious help. And thank you so much for all you work Dr. Berry, going on 6 months carnivore, mostly BBB&E, and I look and feel like a new person at the young age of 55!
@@grahamcarmichael6567 You seriously believe that nonsense? Stay ignorant all you want but I am so much healthier following carnivore than ever was eating carbs and crap.
@@brisfordneville3609 LMAO!!! Ok bro. Science shows that the diet isn’t healthy long term. Ever heard of science? You can survive on it for a while, but your life is going to be disaster in a few years. Good luck bro 😂
Thank You Doctor. I became dependent on BC powders the past 10 years. Now I will stop. I wanted to stop many times but your video will create the effect to stop.
I took ibuprofen for years for migraine. A few years ago i developed a severe allergy to it and other nsaids including aspirin. My throat closes up and i get severely congested. Thought i was just chronically sick, but after stopping it a few years and tested it again recently, it was worse with just one 200 mg tablet. Have been carnivore since march of this year and have relieved my migraine issues.
I first started learning about this during the pandemic when I heard recommendations against taking any medication to immediately reduce a fever rather than let a low grade fever progress naturally to help your body fight infection.
Back when I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in the 90s, ibuprofen was known as "Vitamin I". I knew back then that Ibuprofen was a dangerous drug to take because of the damage it does to the esophagus. I only take naproxen sodium or ibuprofen if I have the occasional rare headache. I don't take them for a sprain or other body ache. I possibly took it twice while on the AT. Then, recently, my best friend passed away from kidney failure. In talking with his brother, I found out he took large doses of ibuprofen to help him do his labor intensive job for several years. I wish I had known so I could have told him to stop. Thank you Dr. Berry for getting this message out. It will save lives. For those who watch this thinking he is joking, I lost my best friend of 42 years due to so called OTC safe pills, not illicit drugs.
My niece had to have a chunk of her intestine removed due to thinning and ballooning out after taking ibuprofen for pain the previous year. She was 20 years old at the time.
Thank you so much. I had this problem i took like110 tablets of ibuprofen and My stomach was going crazy. And ibuprofen was becoming addictive! Im now allot better since i quit that drug. And my back is starting to heel...thank allot
I worked in a supermarket standing on concrete all day long. I popped NSAIDs daily just to make it through the day. I now have stage 2 chronic kidney disease. Please warn people. Thanks for posting this.
My uncle was a doctor. As a teen I heard him say that all medicine is a poison to the body, so using the lowest dose that will work is important. I've had knee pain and taken 1 Alieve every 3-4 days. I have also had short term pain when I took 3 in 4 hours.
I had a Colonel in the US Army who headed all MASH units lab testing; he too said EXACTLY the same thing. PRN should never be interpreted by a layman as once a day. One should always always slowly SLOWLY adjust their dosage of any Rx down to the minimum effective dose. Ditto 4 over the counter faux meds.
My Uncle owned a pharmacy...I also as a teenager my Uncle say the same thing... he fought w/doctors about this...I'm 66 yrs and DON'T TAKE ANY KIND OF MEDICATION...I do green drinks and make my own bone broth...ESPECIALLY Chicken feet bone broth...you may also buy from Trader Joe's any health store🤗
Thank you Dr. Berry! From 2016 to 2019, I was taking Naproxen daily (in addition to other medications) for my Ankylosing Spondylitis. In the final year I struggled daily to reduce my Naproxen dose and wean off it completely. It took years afterwards for my anemia, GI issues, diarhea and heart palpitations to resolve. All that time, I've been gradually learning to eat a proper human diet, and it's been greatly beneficial, especially for GI issues. I understand that inflammation is part of the healing process, but are there times you would want to limit the inflammatory response when it's autoimmune/chronic? My rheumatologist told me to watch for swelling (ex. most common for me is dactylitis in my toes) because this is when the joint damage is occuring. I have hammer toe deformity from some bad flareups and sclerosis of the SI joint, which I'm afraid will lead to fusion of the joint.
Hi! I have 4 autoimmune disorders including AS. The rheumatologist put me on prednisone to reduce the inflammation (symptom) at the same time as the DMARD (treats the cause). I was told to stop taking daily 500mg naproxen! It wasn’t really helping at that point…didn’t even take the edge off. In the case of AI disorders, effective treatment of the cause of inflammation is expected to relieve pain as well as future damage but it takes time to find the “sweet spot” with the DMARDS, methotrexate and/or biologics. There’s not much we can take for pain outside of narcs and that’s a whole other situation. There is medical marijuana available in some states. And there’s also LDN (low dose naltrexone). Despite having strong evidence that it helps, doctors won’t prescribe and insurance won’t pay (at least in NY). It’s ridiculous that only the rich can access good care (“wellness clinics” are giving it to their private pay patients!!).
Wow, i was diagnosed with AS at age 10 im 28 now and have had gi issues for years. I take ibuprofen every single night and recently have been having issues with heart palpitations and a severe gi flare. In and out of the ER 4 times this last week and a half and they cant figure it out. Im also dealing with possible diabetes and had a brain mri today, shows some white matter disease and ischemic vessel change. When i go to sleep i get this horrible pressure building in my head and my body feels like its being cut off from oxygen, my limbs are tight and get red. Has anyone else had this?
