The NSX main advantage is on the long front straight where the 2WD has less drive line power loss than the 4WD cars. Also, the NSX has a lower drag coefficient, again helping its performance on that long front straight. Other major factor is that the NSX has braking advantage since the S Zero is the lightest version of the NSX. The GTR is very heavy and was beginning to experience brake fade towards the end of the race. The EVO used for this test did not even have ABS, the fact that it stayed close to the top 2 is a testament to its handling/grip. In any case, this is my all time favorite BM battle. Its awesome how the three cars in front were also driven by BM's three best drivers.
Gansan is pulling the soul of that NSX engine, he's overrevving it to the extreme, and downshifts beyond the redline. I wonder how any car still drives after his escapades.
Wow, this race (Fuji circuit) really highlights how much slipstreaming can make a difference... Also I really like the long battles (5 laps of Fuji is like 10 laps of tsubuka) cause it adds more variables to the race e.g awd are very hard on front tyres, especially the heavy GTR, thats where I think the honda gained time back (strong braking and turn in cause looks after front rubber being MR and much lighter). It's good to see pros/cons of each that way. Although it'll never happen, I wish touring car racing could go back good ol Group A days where they raced production based cars like this rather instead of the heavily standardised cars they use today.
Oh my god, that NSX engine note. Holy shit, that sounds intoxicating. The 355 sounds amazing as well! What a boss, Mr. Ganji. Passes the GTR and says "as predicted". The NSX is a TRUE track car. Talk shit about its power defecit all day but the car is a track beast. All cars did pretty well but the BMW was totally outclassed. Rx7 despite being at a totally different price point did REALLY well.Good shit, these are all the best cars ever. Would love to see them compare to some of the new super cars.
jay92889 Modern hatchbacks would wipe the floor with any of these supercars and sports car. Around Nurburgring for example, Renault Megane RS Trophy is about 30-40 seconds per lap faster than a 355, NSX or RX7.
Same old BS on youtube from clueless idiots lol. Like you say it did a 7:50 ish lap on crappy old tyres, imagine what it would do with a set of sticky tyres like the megane used! To the guys above the NSX R is still quicker today!
Sorry i know its an old comment but this is simply not true. The new civic cant touch the nsx r lap times around any of the Japanese tracks. Even on rubbish old tyres it lappped the ring in 7:50 odd which suits these fwd beast as its so bloody bumpy. Yes technology has come on lots but the nsx R holds up rather well.
Great race. I was surprised to see the F355 clocked the best lap time. Also, it's nice to see the EVOs and Imprezas play with the big boys and hold their own.
HKS NISMO Fastest lap time because there was no one around him to hinder is speed or breaking. When you're really in the mix and competing, it's harder to set a good lap time.
I love the dam NSX! Never has been a super fast car with only a V6 in it, but it will sure take off in corners it's a handling machine! Once it got in first place there was no passing it, your best bet was on the strait for that!
You've obviously never, ever, been on a race track before. His talent was on full display. The F355's only main advantage is on the long front straight. He worked his way up to 4th position and would have overtaken the top 3 cars within the next 2 laps. You are the very definition of arm chair quarterback.
When I was playing Gran Turismo in the days I couldn't figure out what was the deal with racing only 6 cars for a few laps with random sports cars.. Now I get it. They should totally port this TV show in North America!
R34 losing because of her traction and also the engine is losing torque and tierd from the pressure but the NSX getting stronger every time it take a lap also the MR is good stratigy for this long race i thought the R34 will win but the 4WD is getting tierd from the pressure the key is the tire but the RB26 TT need a good sitting so the car will get better everytime i enjoy the video thank U
They have the Honda spirit. I also own a 92' Civic Si ( I get a lot of hate), but the people who drive Hondas all know what a NSX, Integra Type R, S2000 is and they all want one
Better handling isnt quite everything with zero roads in which to enjoy the great handling that arent covered in gravel. For the record the "yank v8" corvette will whoop almost ALL rice imports around a track for near the same price.
I own the GTT version of the 90's Impreza (the one below STi, 220 stock BHP +/- 350 Trq) I believe the STi should've been able to smoke the RX-7 and to keep up with thr Evo. It is known that the STi is faster 0-100 KM/h and has better handling being lighter 4WD. Therefore i'd like this Race re-done and all drivers should switch cars. A more daring driver in the STi. . Besides that: Cool video, i really liked it. Japanese cars forever! I think this result is pretty representive (except STi...)
the sti is a mountain car..the engine is tuned for torque and acceleration instead of speed..the gearbox is veeery short, so he loses a lot of time on such a big track like fuji havingto shift all the time..the chassis is also tuned for agility, and this track requires high-speed corner stability...its a Rally car for the road..i was even surprised it didnt came up last...if u put all these cars against each other again on the mountain roads, then i am pretty sure sti would be on the top 3..
Ah yes, just four doors compact sedan casually keep up with 2 doors rear engine sports car, twin turbo coupe, and italian supercar... while all those three have significantly larger engine and number of cylinder
the 355 may be faster in a long stretch but it's not just about speed it is also about stamina, handle, and brakes. I am surprised that the NSX won instead of the evo since it was built with balance. the evo didn't have enough torque that's all
The F355 was advancing near the end and had the fastest lap time. It had a pretty slow start but if the race was a few laps longer it’d probably be giving the NSX a run for its money.
F355: Fastest lap yet it came 4th.. makes no sense wtf. Nsx great car, its lighter and more balanced than the skyline, plus the designed was involved with Artyon Sienna, probably F1's most skillful driver of all time.
2013 Update please when the new NSX comes out :) Then itll be R35 GTR, Lexus LFA, Acura NSX, Evo X, Suburu WRX STI, Ferrari 458 Italia, BMW M1 and hopfully Mazda will come out with a new RX-7
Boost on the cars are turned up & that's a modified NSX. There is another video with same drivers and different cars. The stock NSX in that video couldn't even keep up to the Z3M Roadster. Stock NSX doesn't sound like the one in the video it sounds like an Acura legend or accord.
Take note the nsx in this video is a type r version and it is stock. Maybe the one you saw on the other video was a type s which is less developed than the type R.
