Great reaction! I believe that "Nuance" could mean that he is afraid to say the unpopular and different things and just wants to say what others say. Which also would link this song to the line "It's hip to be hipocrite" in the song Hipocrite (:
I think moreso than a change, nuance is about the small details and differences used to distinguish different things. There are two main meanings I feel behind these lyrics, personally. The first is that as we get older and feel farther from our old friends, we no longer share the details of how we're really doing (or how we feel about certain topics). For example, I'll talk to people who used to be my best friends in school, but everything is very surface-level, and certain topics, like politics, are avoided as much as possible. The other takeaway I get from this song is more a general feeling toward the world, and being in a place mentally where you just don't care about the little details around you that make things special. I'm late to your reactions because I'm late to Alec Benjamin, but I'm really enjoying them so far. I love hearing other people's thoughts on his music. I didn't care too much for "Nuance" at first, but after really thinking about what he might be saying, it resonates with me and has grown on me.
when we are children we imagine all diffrent things ,possibilities, trying new things with out too much consequenses but as we grow up all those possibilities become grounded , we always must think of the after math of the things we chose to do talking about an oldfriend from highschool reminds him of his childhood but he is and adult now who change his taste , having more grounded thought and desires you don't have as much time as you used to , and even if you had it , all the things that could go wrong and the dissapointment when things don't turn out as we wanted to as an independent adult would be overwelming thought I'm still not an adult to speak from expirience

I listened to the song about 8 times trying to understand and more when I saw how others were analyzing the lyrics and associating it with someone else. However for me it is very personal, it talks about when we become isolated and we lose that nuance that things and people used to have for us or when it is time to let go of habits that no longer fit and people that you no longer connect with.
