Nubia produced wonderful devices but it stumbled after the US ban. Now they are coming again. I used Nubia z11 max in 2016 and I loved it. My mom is still using the same phone though I gave her Samsung A53. She loves 7 years old Nubia more than the latest Samsung 😅
@@Techtabletsdo you possibly know if it has the side menu/toolbox where you can launch selected apps in pop-up windows? It was present in my previous Nubia (red magic)
Guys Don't buy ZTE and any ZTE stuff Nubia or whatever. Terrible brands global phones from them have very bad Software experience you will also never receive any OS or Security updates for global models. Only China models get 1 year OS update. Don't waste your money for this rubbish brand. It's just another non sense China's ghost brand.
I must admit I loved curved screens when they first came out, I had the Galaxy S6 Edge and S8 plus. However in the the last couple of years I've got fed up with them and I'm flat screens all the way these days
@@sainturiel7459its useless, wastes screen space for bezel illusion which is just the same as having a smaller screen with bezels, accidental press when holding on the sides, impossible screen protectors
@@sainturiel7459they look nice, it's just a little more of a hassle to deal with stuff like a screen protectors. Some people have issues with accidental touches, although honestly doesn't happen to me if I have a case. That particularly glass screen protectors can be a hassle on curved screens especially within display fingerprint sensors. Personally I think screen protectors are a little overrated in 2023 given that gorilla Glass doesn't get scratched by common metals like keys. But still....
Nice review 👌 I have bought Z50 ultra for £515. But it was really confused between Z50,Z50s and Z50 ultra all three with top specs. Absolutely beast of phone.
It is a bit confusing even I didn't know which to do for but in the need this was the lastest one. Great phone that could be some much better which some firmware updates.
you made a right choice! z50 Ultra is top among z50 series. I use Z50 Ultra since April and my experience is fantastic after I fine tuned the smartphone (because I know how to set up notifications in order NOT to miss them).
im currently using z50 ultra for me this is the best rear cam , thermals , and gaming , the only cons on this is the selfie cam but still great coz you will watching video and gaming on full display while z50s pro the thermals is not good for me it reach 42-43° while the z50 ultra it only reach 38-39° and if you stop gaming after 25-30sec the heat will gone
Hello, what phone number do you recommend? I'm between the pixel 7 pro, pixel 8, realme 12 pro+ and z50s pro. I mainly use it to watch movies, video games and photography.
This video is very informative esp. its glitches. This keep me on hold of buying this phone. I hope you would review in the same details when and if ever the global version comes out.
I had a Honor 90 that was not what i expected, the lack of OIS made huge difference on cameras for me, google cam mod didn't work and the OS had issues updating, so i wonder if i will have better experience with nubia Z50, i'm inclined on trying it.
Okay, 35mm is the lens's focal length (equivalent). Wasn't sure what phone cameras usually are -- i see my Pixel 6a main camera is 27mm (which is wider)
Yes most are 24mm-27mm, my S23 Ultra is 24mm much wider. Some people might be put off from the focal length coming from a Samsung or Apple. But for portraits it the lens I would go for and it's in a phone which is great. Main camera is very good and they are working on a 1-inch sensor model of this phone (rumored)
Love these random crazy High-end phones. If only they had global variants. I've read some of them have random issues like not being able to use different diallers and such.
How about Bands and gpay I've read some Chinese phones even though you can get the play store and g apps don't work with gpay. Nice marina BTW, cool place
thanks for this review! I use Nubia Z50 Ultra and I love it's camera capabilities (I love making photos)! Overall not ideal flagship smartphone however it has "a cherry on the cake": unique design, under display selfie camera and 35 mm camera. As regards Nubia z50s pro - it looks like next generation of Z40s pro, makes no sense to upgrade for me, waiting for Z60 Ultra with upgraded telephoto lens!
13mm 125 degree up to 80mm 2.3X optical zoom is really giving variety choices to user. 4k 120fps is rare as well. nubia z50 had 8k macro video recording, hopefully this one also supports it as well. usb 3.1 with display out is great and usually not seen in phones below 800$. flicker option in usb debugging can help for some people's eyes strains. street mode is the one that their team optimized and with gcam shots that focused youtuber parikov Matvey on nubia phones released video, greater result were achieved. I had seen 1inch video released from their leaders in nubia team but if only they would've used 6000-7000mah, wireless charging, better thicker cooling system, 3,5 jack to compensate for the camera bump of 2cm and as a result, gives it less stick out on the whole package , I believe many users will have accept it as win solution and a unique phone to consider buying for years.
There's a Global ROM version of this phone. I'm still choosing between the Z50 or Z50S Pro. The Z50S Pro 1TB is like $190 more than the Z50 256GB. Not sure which one to get tbh. Both are offered with a Global ROM.
@@Techtabletsnot even..over heating is something i hate on a smartphone. Its a game breaker for me. I really lked it putting aside no headphone jack or sd card slot.
Got an email from Nubia today with a $30 coupon, it is now being sold on the US Amazon site but I'm loving my Pixel 8 Pro but I do love the look of this.
Good day! I was contemplating on buying this phone but I am not sure on its security patches and android updates, do you have any idea on how long does Nubia support this phone?
Bro Does it overheat too much during gaming? You said nothing about it, also Didn't measure the temperature either. And What is the current performance situation now after the new update?
I literally just bought this phone for just over £500. 1tb storage 16gb RAM white marble version. Top specs and performance for such a low price. VERY impressive from ZTE/Nubia
Great review as usual and thank you for reviewing these good phones from these companies as they're better alternatives for regular phones we have in our limited markets My questions are: Considering this a Chinese ROM does have a native call recorder option in its native phone app like other phones with Chinese ROMs ? Second question is does it support third party launcher as a default with gestures navigation or not? Thank you again for your review 🙏
Glad you like them! To answer your questions. Yes to native call recording. No to launchers being at as home. It has the option in settings default home app but I have Nova installed and I can't set it as the default.
@@Techtablets my fix was settings > applications > app info > tap the 3 vertical dots on the upper right > tap "Desktop" then choose the launcher what you want to default as. It was my issue with Redmagic 8 Pro, I can set the launcher temporarily but then returns to default launcher when going "home" but that method I mentioned fixed it.
i bought it. its essentially the axon 30 ultra... minus 1 camera but all the same issues... paid $599 for the 12gb ram 1tb storage version $641 after tax. the audio quality is 100% better! the 30 ultra had noise canceling that was just god awful. big issue now for people is you CAN NOT SAVE SLOW MOTION VIDEOS ( just like the 30 ultra) you can slide the bars making your video all day long but there is no physical way to save it afterward .... this has been a thing zte has been doing a looong time now an they dont care about fixing it. it is a 12mp at that... im stuck still on xiaomi's 27/108mp cams cuz actual detail. 12mp is just outdated. the zoom lens for nightmode is bad... really bad 10 pics in a row an it just wont focus at all. if a leaf falls in front of you when your recording EVERYTHING behind it goes blurry like bokeh... its annoying even if it fell to the corner camera still focuses on it blurring everything else. screen recording is not good either... tried it 4 times an each one the audio doesnt match the video its 2 seconds behind at best 5 at worst . this is after the 1 update i got. interestingly with stabilization off you dont get 4k 60 its about 4k 52-4k 57 so it doesnt get ''that look'' to it you want. stabilization on it does get 4k60... it shouldnt because its cropped so frames are missing an looks the same as unstablized version . over all though its a pretty good phone even with other issues
Always appreciate your videos. Is the China version worth it... can you work with it? Trying to decide between the IQOO 11, Realme GT5 (CN) and the Nubia z50s pro Would value your input very much Which one would you choose?
As for photos,IQOO 11 is the best one,I personally would think so. IQOO specialized in take night photos,it never overexposured(such like Ad led board, lamps etc) Nubia z50sp telephoto is just a"bouns".....do not take it seriously .. 😂as for the screen, I love AQUOS R8pro...
Nubia Z50 PRO cost $530 usd in the Philippines while the standard Z50 only cost $390 usd I really hate it's curved glass. Both are applicable with a -$20 voucher.
I think every flagship should come with 35mm primary camera. It doesn't make much sense to have a 12mm then a 24mm. 12mm. 35mm, 70mm will be perfect. Also a fourth 120mm on ultra flagships
Yes!!! Yes I 100% agree with you on this 24mm of my S23 Ultra is just too wide, it needs a 35mm! I hope more brands will adopt this Nubia approach using 35mm I don't under stand why it's not more mainstream!
I don’t mean to sound stupid here but what’s the difference between a 35mm lens and a 35mm sensor? I thought, wrongly, this phone had a full frame sensor, clearly I was wrong - can someone explain the difference?
I believe more phones should include 4k@120fps , the purpose of a 120fps video is slow motion, right ? I believe snapdragon 8 gen 2 has more than enough power to do that , Sony, Asus and Oneplus have been doing it since snapdragon 888 if I am not mistaken
Yes for slow motion so you can slow it to 60fps or 30fps and it looks great but the qualify is quite meh at 120 fps doesn't seem like it's actually 4k but more like QHD upscaled.
Any chance of covering either the z50 or z50 Ultra? And does their default Dialer have Call Recording? Love the video, damn that weather was about to get wild lmao.
Not sure I'll buy those. Maybe the 1 inch sensor model if that is released. As for the dialer yes native app supports call recording. The weather has been quite unstable very cloudy the last few days.
This Nubia phone is really interesting, and in fact I prefer more flat displays over curved displays. The back of the phone is top. I really love this camera style finish. Specs are very good. Price is nice, for a flagship. Unfortunately those bugs with the camera are the main concern. To buy this phone, you need to be sure they fix such issues. The problem it's a Chinese phone and it's not for everyone to check on forums for software updates fixing these kind of bugs. A 1" sensor would be super cool, but then you also need a better zoom sensor, because a 8MP non periscope zoom sensor, is very poor, not to mention the poor quality of the front facing camera. There's not perfect phone, but if they only fixed those bugs, this phone could be very appealing for many, outside the Chinese market!
Yes if they fixed the bugs, improved the front camera they could be really onto something with this 35mm lens, the whole style of it is really good. Some find the zoom camera is good. I don't really only at 80mm but anything over that it's poor.
Is this the global version or the China version? I watched someone use a z50 for an emulator and nothing happened but when do the 3d benchmark the phone goes off too. No overheating too for gaming.
Looks a lot like the z40s pro (8+ gen 1). Did you not have a copy to compare? The 5g is working on the z40s pro. And the heat is no problem. Only the 90Hz refresh rate is missing... and the marvelous 35mm camera. Use "Set edit" to change to your language to your liking in both models
Considering how limited in design options for these candy bar touch phones one can’t quite really say one phone copied its looks from the other, innit?
When you watch Australia vs India cricket match and commentary in English language, you score 75% in English in academic but can't understand single word
@@DimiProject2 Tele Zoom is better on the Ultra yeah. But the main camera especially in lower light is noticeably better and I think this is the camera you will most often use.
Glad you now at least regularly mention things like aspect ratio & touch response, even if the latter is just based on your subjective perception. Definitely a top tier tech reviewer in my books, keep up the good work Chris! 🩵
So flat frame means it is copied from apple, huh? In that sense, every apple iphone is copied from LG phones because they were the one's who first introduced capacitive touchscreen in a phone ! So every human being is a copy of another human because we all have a pair of eyes? I thought this tech reviewer was better ! My bad ! 🙂
update from last post..... its because china version has its own photo gallery an other things where the global/U.S version is google photo's only so you cant save slow motion videos at all cuz google doesnt do that... they screwed the global users over by putting what works on the china version an taking it off the global one. so customer support just leads you along an trolls you every time you ask for a fix or tell them the issue as they tell you ''your phone is defective send it in an get a new one ( happened to me with axon 30 ultra 3x still had same issues) .... crap company. whats worse is other reviewers knew this an were asked about it an lied to people on here saying their phone works fine but NOT MENTIONING they are reviewing china version only to get caught when z60 came out an saying z60 ultra was global an z50s pro was china version. one guy even said the quiet part out loud about moving the china zte gallery to his global z60 ultra. it does not work though unless you root the phone or put china rom on it.... crap company
I just bought the global version and the only thing that bothers me is the scroll speed. My past phone was a Poco X4 and I have been able to put them side to side performing some normal scroll and when the Z50s scrolls through a list of 7 videos, the Poco scrolls up to the double. I don't know if it is a thing with my phone in particular or is its normal behavior. Can you help me with this? Thank you
The best things I've seen from this phone is "top-notch hardware".... Other than that nothing really comes together.... I always say "you get what you paid for" and this phone falls into this category.... Personally the camera performance is below average, soft, detailess and just poor... But as I've always said, "you get what you paid for"....
@@Techtablets agry wich you. I was long time ago user of that Lenovo, what a desing was in that time and amazing quallity build, everyone asked me what phone is that. Cannot forget that phone for years, beauty in the hands 🙂
No international version? So why is this interesting for anyone outside China? Some years ago, I was in China and bought a phone there. Really interesting and the seller demonstrated all it could. Told him, I was bringing it home and he answered that was not an issue. It would work on the network we have here (Sweden). BIG disappointment. I never worked outside China. I could just throw it away.
Because it works globally. As you may had bad experience, all the time is worth checking the frequencies of the device youre after. Its so simple, then not to blame inadequate salesman. This device works just perfect in Europe.
This phone has one of the best screen on phone with dc dimming by developer mode to me its above any flagship today Good job BOE they do screen better than Samsung
