JT covers the situation in Cape Cod Bay, Massachusetts's where the idea of dumping millions of gallons of radioactive waste water from a decommissioned nuclear power plant is being considered. The Pilgrim Nuclear Power plant was acquired by Holtec International in 2019. The company is making bold considerations to release the 1.1 million gallons of waster water directly into Cape Cod Bay. The effects of this pollution are unknown and the EPA needs to push back. Politicians and the citizens need to stop this from happening. Please like, comment and Subscribe!

This will be an unpopular comment, but here I go: It’s tritium. Just google it to find out more. Tritium has been around since the 1940’s. As a former nuclear engineer, I was required to challenge everything and to learn about science, as well as politics. I’ve been part of creating thousands of gallons of tritium. Ideally, I’ve been focusing on reusing it or evaporating it. Tritium isn’t the worst thing out there, but obviously it’s still “partially radioactive and has a pedigree from a reactor. Agree or disagree, but dilution is a solution. The ocean is a great means of dilution. BTW, we’re not “pumping in” river water, nor are we discharging that reactor coolant directly; there’s A LOT of anion/cation chemical and mechanical filtration. Tritium is leftover at that point. The true problem is that there are many uneducated people in the public who form opinions. I’m not a brain surgeon, so I don’t comment on people mishandling information and opinion about brain surgery. Same here, opinion has run a muck on this topic. Public opinion is very important. Truly it is. This topic has been going on for decades. Point is: the coolant is filtered, then it’s discharged. The remaining water is tritium, which anyone can look up. I don’t think it’s a big deal. Sorry common folk.
