a few mistakes: 1) the first nuclear power plant was built in the USSR in 1954. 2) China now occupies the 3rd place. 3) after the Fukushima accident, only 9 reactors out of 54 operated, and Japan did not occupy the leading places at that time. 4) shows growth in the United States, however, most of them were built 30 years ago, and only 2 new ones are being built, the construction of two more was decided to stop. the number of reactors in the united states is declining.

Nuclear energy is the cleanest and even in the past was safer then the others. The new technologies make it super safe and cheap, most reliable. Energy is the key to everything and in the far future will require only energy to have virtually anything.

The really sad thing as an Aussie is that Australia has the most sun in the world yet has virtually no solar power, and the worst of all; Australia is one of the world's most prolific producers of Uranium but have ZERO nuclear power stations.... and we Aussies wonder why the cost of our electricity is one of the most expensive in the world !

Yeah, Olympic Dam SA and Yeleerie W.A. between them have about 30% of the world's uranium deposits, we are not prolific in production, we just have a lot of it. Lucas Heights in Sydney is the only nuclear reactor in Australia, and it a "research" reactor opened in 1958. It was replaced by the "OPAL" reactor in 2007. Importantly, a lot of radioisotopes required in cancer treatment is produced in Lucas Heights. I know "Twiigy" Forrest recently pegged out a very large area in W.A's Pilbara and parts of the Kimberly , iu think with the view to constructing solar power farms.

@@valkiriachila2032 Yes, nuclear energy is a clean energy: it emits almost no CO2 and all the nuclear waste produced by all the French nuclear power plants since they exist can be stored in the equivalent of an Olympic swimming pool. And the fact that France has chosen nuclear energy has greatly reduced the share of energies such as coal or oil in France, contrary to the United States for example where it is a real ecological masquerade. So yes, France has done well to choose nuclear energy and I think it will stay like that for years to come. Capacity removed and permanent shutdowns. Thirteen reactors with a total capacity of 10196 MW(e) were permanently shut down globally. Some 47% of the capacity reduction resulting from permanent shutdowns came from five reactors in Japan that had been idle since 2011: Genkai-2 (529 MW(e)), Fukushima-Daini-1 (1067 MW(e)), Fukushima-Daini-2 (1067 MW(e)), www.iaea.org/newscenter/news/iaea-releases-2019-data-on-nuclear-power-plants-operating-experience

Interesting video for comparison, but the units are unclear. Continuous output in KW or MW would have been a better choice, but if you choose to display kWh produced, you'll also need to specify a timeframe. kWh/year? Per month? Per day? Only kWh alone doesn't really make sense.

I'm surprised the US is still on top despite the stagnation in the nuclear industry after the Three Mile Island incident. If one really believes a drastic reduction of carbon emissions is necessary, nuclear energy is the way to do it. Hence, the Japanese nuclear industry is bouncing back despite Fukushima. Countries that abandon nuclear in favor of "renewables" like Germany are seeing their carbon emissions going up. Super Green California is also caught in this vicious circle.

I am quite doubtful about the authenticity of the figures in the graphs shown above. After the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster in 2011, Japan closed down almost 90% of their nuclear power plants and stopped producing electricity from nuclear energy. As of March 2020, of the 54 nuclear reactors in Japan, there were 42 operable reactors but only 9 reactors in 5 power plants were actually operating. A total of 24 reactors are scheduled for decommissioning or in the process or being decommissioned. It still shows Japan as 3rd largest by 2020, which is factually incorrect.
