That moment when the United States Navy cares more about the RU-vid creator community than RU-vid itself does
@zacksargent
@zacksargent 5 лет назад
I think that it's cool for the Navy to be reaching out to creators like this, but I wish they went into more detail about some real world things. For instance, there are some interesting mathematical problems that have to deal with submarines that could have been discussed without issue. For example, when fighting Nazi U-Boats, it was calculated that, once a submarine is detected, torpedoes must be launched within a certain amount of time, or else the U-Boat could sink far enough that firing torpedoes is a waste of time and resources.

honestly, since I have watched these videos the Navy is looking a lot more human and genuine to me.

@@zacksargent anything that is trying to convince you to think or do anything is propoganda. but there isnt any harm to it so I dont see why we shouldn't.

Currently in nuclear A-school, all of the curriculum here is classified as NOFORM or basically, it cannot be accessable by a foregn nation. And thats probably why they never get really into it. Even the simple stuff we all know about math, its NOFORM'd.

Love the idea of these types of videos. Try to have more content in each one. You spent a majority of the video building up the premise for the video then it's already over.

it’d be cool to watch coast guard vs vsauce but I don’t think it’d be very amusing to watch vsauce explain how dinghies work while all the coast guards eat crayons the entire time

Right? The only time we talked about fast reactors was in discussing why you wouldn’t want one.

Same. I mean I remember a thermal neutron as being less than 2 MeV but the whole reactor was never called that.

Most of the B-roll footage here isn't from the Pasadena. At 0:18, the compartment number on the top left reads 7-220-2-E. This is read as 7th deck, frame 220, port side, Engineering. Not only do submarines not use compartment numbers, but there are no submarines with 7 decks, and only an SSBN would be long enough to have 220 frames (I don't know exactly how many frames an SSBN has). At 0:21, the shaft is way longer than that of a submarine, and the compartment it's in is rectangular, and has way more space than an SSN. Also, SSN engine rooms are painted an awful green color, not white. At 0:27, the curved shape on the front of the sail (called the fairing or cusp) is only found on Virginia class submarines, designated SSN 774 and later. At 1:43, this room has windows. Submarines don't have windows. At 1:44, sailor on the left is wearing the Surface Warfare device (directly above U.S. NAVY tape). At 2:03, again the flat-panel displays and layout of this control room are characteristic of Virginia class. At 2:05, another Virginia. Not hating, just thought it was worth noting.
