Dear Listeners! More than 5 years passed since the upload of this short video, most of you liked what you have heard, some of you asked for Part 2 in the comment section. I am glad that this piece engaged your attention, that is the reason why I will try to explain a little bit more about the situation. Short version: There won't be any Part 2. No matter what you will write down in the comment section. I feel sorry. After posting this here I will change the title of the video, the Part 1 words are misleading anyone joining from this very moment. Long version: About the creation of the song: At the time when this shorty has been created we (Martina and my humble self) were in the recording phase of our debut EP under the name Nulah. I had numerous mics that time in the studio, and wanted to find the best which fits the most Martinas’ voice. The cover was her idea, she did not wanted to waste her voice for trying out the gear (and she liked the song). The writing process of the instrumental parts and vocal tracks involved zero creativity, the recording has been completed in no time, we reproduced the original instrumental melodies note by note with an electric, an acoustic and a bass guitar, and we did the same with the vocals. No percussions, keyboards or anything else. The extra of this cover is that the vocals were performed by a female singer. And that’s all. The editing and mixing of the tracks took longer than creating it. What about Part2? I must admit that changing the male singer to a woman improves the listening experience for some guys, including myself. I know this stinks, but I like this version better too. And that is the part where I should explain, why there is no second part, and why it will not happen in the future. As the listening experience increased while the vocals were swapped to female vocals in the first half, I am pretty sure the opposite would happen in the second half, which contains harsh male vocals chanting one sentence on and on, and metal instrumentals getting more intense until the climax of the song. We could have reproduced the instrumental parts faithfully, sure. We could have recorded the vocals with Martina speaking or chanting (or growling or screaming, but that would have been sounding silly...). We could have been recruit a male singer with harsh voice, or I could do the job as well. But why would we do this? This would have been just a total copycat of the original. We would have lose the only extra spice which made that first half special, changing the male vocals to female. It is not that hard to understand, that Martina is better in the realm of clean singing than Tom G. Warrior. That is why we could raise the bar in the first half. Is she a better singer in the harsh territory than Tom? Nope. Neither I am. My side of the coin It is important to explain why I have abandoned the channel. At the end of 2018 I became a father and that is the best thing that happened in my life so far. But of course this status change led to the altering of my preferences. Before that I was involved in a lot of musical formations, ran my own studio and worked in a full time job as a product specialist of the brand Headrush in my country Hungary. I was also a guitar teacher, but that was the first I had to let go... With Nulah we were only able to release only a single apart from this cover. We melted all of our hearts and souls into that song, which was named Buried in waves. I became obsessed with the mixing of the song, it took almost 6 months and this was not that helpful maintaining the enthusiasm of Martina and I think neither of our small fanbase. After the publishing of the single 2 years and 3 months ago, we stopped existing as a band, even if that has not been stated by any of us since that. Back to my personal life, I had to make decisions which activities to continue, and which to let go. I had to be honest with myself and realise what musical activities are really rewarding me (of course not financially, music sucks anyway in that) and which are just consuming my time and energy, even if nothing happens in that band. I got to understand my feelings that studio projects are not charging my batteries. I need to play live on stages or in the rehearsal rooms. I need human interactions, not emails. I need moving air from the speakers or the drumheads, not another wav or midi tracks landing in my inbox. I like it loud! The hardest thing was for me to release Nulah, I was hoping for years it can be saved, but in the summer of 2021 I had to face the fact that it is dead. After I have sold my guitars only held for that project I felt utterly relieved. I still feel it was the best path to follow. Final Words For the record, I really don’t like covers. I think most of the time they are uninspired, lazy executed, lacking creativity and sometimes even disrespectful to the originals. They are aiming fast success, high listener reach, and it works. No doubts, I also use other musical acts materials to demonstrate musical gears, and have my own series here of remastered original LPs, they became my highest viewed uploads. But I am not proud of that, and I don’t even think for a moment that is my success. People need to connect to the music they listen to, and it is always easier to connect to something which you have heard a thousand times before. That is how the listening habits change after a certain age, it becomes more and more difficult to let new music into your heart... We created our only released original song with Martina from our souls, blood and tears, feeding off our personal traumas and tragedies. Two session musicians (Zoli on violin and Márk on the drums) also contributed on that song and their ideas increased the quality incredibly too. We wanted to be satisfied with the final product 150% that is why the post production took that very long. The CF cover which has been created like a snap of the fingers and is not representing our real musical qualities has 5 times more views like our original. It is a bit of salty feeling but I was prepared for that, no problem. But after a retard was commenting under Buried in waves that we should complete the covers second part I went batshit crazy. I don’t owe anybody in the comment section a single minute of studio time spent on something I don’t believe in, something I can’t stand behind with full heart! These are my final words. you are just wrong about one part. Mr Ain the bassist sang the clean stuff in the beginning. yes Martina is better than him too God rest his soul on cleans...
This is one of the best metal covers I've ever heard! But it has one significant drawback... this cover is just for the beginning of the song... PLEASE COVER THE ENTIRE SONG - ALL THE FANS OF CELTIC FROST WILL BE VERY GRATEFUL TO YOU!!!
