Really cool you could get one to review so early. I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago after just having a halo 75 for a couple of months. Now I will have a nuphy for the home and the office.
I love nuphy products so much I start hounding them the second they announce them 😂 I am currently using a halo65 on my gaming rig and an air 75 (now v2) Gary stole the halo 75 for his editing rig but I wish I had kept that instead of the halo 65 😀
Bought it and used your code. I really like how it goes on top of laptops without issue. I've tried using my keychron, but it always triggers my laptops internal keyboard. Got an all black version with black wristrest.
nice video. 2 months ago i bought the air75 v1 for my work and i was so satisfied that i wanted to buy another one but i the magnetic feet were problematic. so i searched further. but then they have announced v2 and gave me a 20% upgrade discount. i thought that nuphy can read my mind. it was perfect
Such a great video. Thank you, I can't wait for mine to come. I did notice that on the plastic dust cover they've printed the pronunciation of their brand as New-fee, not Noo-ph-i
Great review! I preordered same cowberry switches in the white colorway. This video made me even more excited for it to arrive. I didnt realize the extra shine through key caps arent doubke shot. Do you know if that makes a difference in how the keys sound?
Yes, it’s really difficult to make double shot pbt shine through as they are so think. It hardly impacts the sound but they don’t feel as nice as pbt or last as long (pbt will last years without wear
hey thanks for the nice review, I just saw a review saying that the via/qmk profile is not saved on the keyboard. That it no longer works if you switch to Bluetooth. Were you able to test this?
HI, I have two of the V1's. Love them. Then one day I realized that the battery had swelled on one of them.. so I checked the other and it had swelled too... seems like the batteries they use are not of high quality and I would be very interested in knowing if the V2 has better batteries in them.
Haha I love them too, they are my favourite off the shelf keyboards! I do prefer the halo range as I love a more traditional mech but these airs go so well with my max setup
thanks a lot for the insightful review .i have a quick question did you faced typo mistakes ? cause in v1 I had a lot of typo mistakes and that's why I returned it
Does VIA software works over wireless though, that's my biggest issue with the V1. If it needed to be wired in order to be customisable, it might as well not having the custom function
Greate great review, I think you're first with the review. Really very good. I am about to pre-order this can you tell me is there any shipping issue or customs clearance-related problem happened to you? I am ordering this in US.
Thank you mate, I have had a few nuphy keyboards over the years and shipping has always been fast and never had any customs issues and I live in the U.K. which is pretty strict on customs! What colour and switch are you going for? Make sure you use the discount code for an extra 10% off.
I use the Air60 at work and love it (well except the feet ofc) so I figured ill get the new 75 for my home setup. I got the lighter tactile switch, i just hope i like it
Yeah, the feet were a good idea at the time but didn't work well in practice, I kept loosing mine 🤣 The tactile are very subtle so think you will like them, I love the wisteria if its a typing only board.
@@MashITTech Unfortunately I purchased the keyboard before watching your video but if I like the 96 I might order the 75 v2 and will definitely make sure to use the discount code. Thanks🤩
This is always a tough one and you can buy shine through key caps from nuphy but I prefer the feel of double shot so always go without shine through. Razer tried to use double shot shine through keycaps on the huntsman v2 and it didn’t work very well because of the thickness of the pbt cap
Many thanks for your video. About to put an order through, but thinking through the Cowberry switched and the Aleo - any advice? I'm coming from Logitech MX range (the regular not the mechanical) and this will be my first mechanical keyboard. Appreciate the advice.
Can you tell me your planned use for the keyboard? if it is pure typing my first choice would be wisteria followed by cowberry, for a mix of typing and gaming cowberry then pure gaming I would choose aloe. the 37g is very light and I feel it may be too light for pure typing
Thanks for getting back to me. It’s purely for typing really… so that’s helpful. How does the Cowberry and the Aloe compare to the like of MX keys or Apples’s keyboard?
hello mate, sorry for the delay, got bogged down with family stuff! ok, the cowberry is slightly heavier than the aloe and pressure wise is similar to the Logi. Logi and cowberry feel slightly heavier than the apple keyboard which although I type fast on gives me terrible wrist ache with prolonged use. The Logi although decent pressure feels spongy unlike a mech keyboard, the cowberry just feels amazing to type on
Thanks mate@@MashITTech - that was very helpful. Too many options with those buttons. Looks like it's worth trying the Cowberry first, instead of ordering multiple buttons and turns out a waste. It's great they include a trial pack of the rest. I've put in an order and used your code. Cheers
Great review, thanks. I recently bought the v1, not realising a v2 was coming. I've been a little disappointed with the v1 because there is no firmware for linux/mac, only windows, no VIA so I can't easily remap keys and the Gateron brown switches are a little squeaky. Thinking I might try and sell this v1 and upgrade to a v2.
Yeah, I can only hope they offer this via upgrade to the whole range as it really is a game changer. Plus the improved battery life, fold out feet and better keycaps make the v2 a worthy upgrade
Are you sure those switches are Cowberries? Looks like the Daisy variant, but it could be the video color tricking me. Cowberry is red while Daisy is peach.
@@MashITTech I think having it much longer so people have time to hear a prolonged typing experience. So you type for 20-30 seconds, then finish with some space/modifier key spamming, with a little text warning showing that the segment is about to end (people turn up the volume to hear the keys, and don't want to get blasted by what comes after!). I'd take a look at some other example reviews out there if you want to get a feel of how others do it :) The video otherwise is super good.
I want the right light to show the battery at all times, possible? The lighting options in the app are useless, nothing special. I don't want fancy lighting I want to decide what the right side light displays. Great review tho!
Ok, I just ripped the space bar off and inspected it. It is not the same as the Halo range, the halo space bar has silicone centre standoff. The air space is too thin for that. They have put the silicone dampener across the whole space bar area to give it the sound dampening. I would say it is a good compromise because of the thin system
Dammit. I really wanna buy this but i need to have nordic layout ÅÄÖ etc. You can probably program it on the software but im still left with no keycaps for those keys...
Totally agree as we are ISO here in UK too. I keep nagging NuPhy to make an ISO version and on the package it shows ANSI/ISO/JIS layout with ANSI ticked so I am keeping my fingers crossed this may mean it is in the pipeline
@@jcap8391 the keyboard layout used in some countries like Europe and other parts of the world. It has a smaller left shift key to accommodate a and it also has a more square- like enter key.
Reason I ask if that the the Lofree basically has no features lol but a good typing action, whereas the Nuphy V2 has alot of features eg. keymapping but with switches which I don't think are quite as good....I suspect the ping layout of the switch may be slightly different? @@MashITTech
I am pretty sure as with a lot of rgb keyboard the white has a bit of coloured hue as it’s not rgbw but there is white in the colour picker. When I get in the office next I will select white and see what it looks like
Absolutely and in all honesty, my air75v1 ended up living on my editing rig via wired the whole time just because I am too lazy to charge it every so often 😂
There is still no see through light for the keys, this is my reason I picked keychron k3(red), and now RedDragon k625(brown). I also have Logitech MX(red) full size.
you can order shine through keycaps but they are ABS are no where near the quality of the PBT they supply. I need to take another look at keychron, I haven't ordered a keyboard from them for years!
@@MashITTech Then it’s too expensive if I have to buy that on my own… even the Logitech is overpriced I believe but I got it with store credit reward, I am happy with the RedDragon K625 brown switch so far, ~US$52, with another set of spare keys in darker grey color, and I really like to have the power switch on the left hand side.
That's a good question. 1. it is one of very few mechanical keyboards that properly supports Mac including all the Mac functions. 2. it's bluetooth, wired or wireless so can be used with Mac/iPad/PC. 3. being a low profile mechanical keyboard its easy to transport it so if you wanted to use it with an iPad as an example you could throw it in the bag. Other features that I love are the build quality and sound profile of the keyboard feels and sounds like an expensive models build. Hope that helps
Cool review, but clicked for the sound test of the alternative switches and it was without keycaps. Doesn't showcasing how those would sound in reality, with the keycaps on
I mean they ships quick so it's not a backorder issue just takes forever to get here. Impossible to track as well. 2-3 weeks is totally acceptable since it's china but anything more then that is a bit much. Anything I ordered from IQUNIX or G-Wolves was always around two weeks and the same shipping charge. @@MashITTech
And you can order it with shine through caps. But sadly most shine through caps are made from ABS and don't feel as good. Double shot PBT caps struggle letting the light through which is why most companies won't make them
Yes you are correct and so does razer with the huntsman v2 and v3 but comparing the huntsman to the previous ABS keycaps they are much more dull as not much light is shining through (Haven't had a chance to the Asus yet though). I have searched for years for custom key cap manufacturers to make decent shine through PBT caps but none seem to be willing
@@MashITTech Yeah, well.. For me it's ok, if the caps don't blind me.. :) the backlighting doesn't need to shine like the sun ofc. They just need to be visible in a dark environment. Maybe it's just me, who's not the best blind typer.. :D I guess people with 100+ wpm don't need any backlighting at all :)
@@MashITTech Oh I see, thanks for clarifying. I pre-ordered with moss switches but also won the discord giveaway with daisy switches. So the actuation force on daisy v2 is 45g?
ah so those daisy switches you won are likely to be the v2 cowberry like me and yes the actuation force is 45g. I have tested all this years switches and the cowberry is my personal favourite (but I prefer a linear switch, obviously this is subjective)
@@MashITTech I'm more a tactile switches guy so the linears should be a new experience. Thank you for the great overview sir and keep them videos coming.
@@MashITTechI just received v2 and noticed that the peak backlight brightness is only comparable to the level one brightness of my v1. Others on the discord server show the white v2 backlight to be much brighter than the v1, does your black unit have the same issue.
Mac users, do not buy v2 if you care about globe key. This keyboard does not have globe key by default. You may apply a qmk patch and build the firmware yourself, but you will still loose it when using bluetooth
Argh! Again with this nonsense of having keys to the right of the return key etc. It’s so annoying. Note that the box shows a keyboard without those because they know it’s a terrible design 😀
DO NOT BUY THESE! Buy the LoFree Flow. It is INCREDIBLE!!! I have the dark grey Tactile version. Flawless. Truly no complaints. I work at a desk for 8 hours a day with AWS and love it for just that. I use my high profile custom boards at house for gaming though. LoFree 4 ever.
