Sooo about this. David and his team knew he was on pace for 7:49, but they also know that a sub 7:50 would trigger further restrictions on the class of cars. 7:53 is a fantastic record and very fast, David is faster!!!!

Sure. It's the same car. Same weight, same everything. They have nothing to do with civil cars. They share only bodywork shape and emblems. However, say, the Bentley racing car (GT3) is probably a tiny bit different as a different shop produces it but the weight and agility around the track is the same. What I know is that the new race BMW M4 has now the clutch on the steering wheel. To me, it's the biggest difference but I'm sure there are other improvements. The thing is other cars receive similar improvements and they also now have the clutch on the steering wheel. I'm sure the M6 race cas also had some improvement over its predecessor (M3 race car). Such things are hush hush. It's bad for advertising. Customers need to think that race cars and their civil siblings are somehow connected or similar. That's not the case at all. It was the case maybe 30-40 years ago, but even back then the difference was huge. It holds even for Ferrari and Porsche. Civil and race cars don't share a single bone except for the shape of the bodywork and emblems but that's enough for the customer (seeing the same bodywork).

@@billmorrigan386Well, GT3 Cup is not that different from the street legal GT3 RS , in fact most of the bodywork and even suspension and steering parts are completely interchangeable

@@Nikowalker007 I'm afraid it's not the case. That's what manufacturers want people to believe. In actuality, the cars don't share a single bone. GT3 race cars weigh 400 kg less than their street versions. It's like comparing a street GT3 car that weighs around 1500-1600 kg with an SUV that weighs 1900-2000 kg. Sure you may race a truck too. Yet the difference is huge.

Pro race cars have manual sequential gearboxes (they weigh less than an H-manual gearbox). They lack the stability control. Most people don't know the difference between stability control and traction control. A street Bentley would weigh around 1900 kg. A race version which looks the same (IT IS NOT THE SAME!) weighs only 1200 kg. It has nothing to do with brands. It's the same for others too (Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, etc.)

the reason has to do with aerodynamic downforce and the setup of the transmission. with downforce you will go faster in the corner sections and lose some topspeed, but its faster over the course of a whole lap.

They are slowed down on the Nürburgring because a Nissan GT-R GT3 took off a few years ago, they go around 290 in other series.

@@markuskenel Don't forget intake restrictors. That's the main way they limit horsepower for BOP as far as I know.
