The Nuremberg Trials were the most prominent trials that occurred at the end of the Second World War to bring those remaining members of Hitler's government to trial. But 10 men were executed inside of the execution chamber inside Nuremberg Prison by US hangman John C Woods. The executions did not go well, but one man who witnessed everything was Chaplain Henry Gerecke. He saw not only the executions but the death of Hermann Göring too.

Father Gerecke was upstairs on the next floor listening to the World Series on the radio the night before the executions. That is when Goring took his poison which probably saved the hangman a lot of aggravation the next day. Because there was a fear of werewolves trying to steal Goring's corpse and setting up a shrine Rex Morgan, the Grave Registration GI in charge, decided to use the names of American soldiers on their caskets. He had to take them to Munich where they were cremated. However, Rex had a sense of humor and put "George Munger" on Goring's casket. Munger was Rex Morgan's football coach back at Penn State. Munger lived a long life.

Albert Speer did - sort of. Anyway, he published his memoirs and re-opened his architect's office. If he still had right-wing contacts they were not proved.

Nothing was botched, what happened was absolutely deliberate. If it was botched the executions would have stopped after the first one until the issues had been corrected. Any refusal to do this should have permanently stopped the executions entirely

You are completely wrong. There is no precedent for stopping executions because one of them is botched. There is no law or tradition that says hangings must be stopped because it does not go smoothly. John C. Woods also botched hangings of American soldiers convicted of rape or murder, and they didn't stop those. He was incompetent and an idiot. But no one cared to make a fuss about it because it's an ugly business. But deliberate? Absolutely not.

@@krakrtreacysr907so were the botched executions of American soldiers by MSTSgt John C. Woods also intentional? We have to assume no, unless Woods was some kind of sick bastard. Also, not all of the Nazi’s that Woods executed strangled in the noose. Some of them were executed properly. The only conclusion is that Woods was a sloppy, inefficient hangman and no one particularly cared.

The authorities were embarassed by these incompetent executions so they brought in Albert Pierrepoint for some of the subsequent later executions of the lesser war criminals
