Nurse Edith Cavell was composed in honour of Nurse Edith Cavell, an English Nurse who was celebrated for treating soldiers from both sides during the First World War, but was executed for helping around 200 Allied soldiers escape from German-occupied Belgium.
I still have a long way to go, as you can tell by occasional squeak, wrong note, and inability to hold a constant tone. However, not counting a brief attempt when I was 10, I started on the practice chanter about 16 months ago, and on the pipes about 14 months ago, so I don't think I'm doing too badly. I just have to keep it up.
