Just to help everyone out, my period came 2 weeks late (from when it was supposed to come) after taking the pill. I had spotting for about 4-5 days after taking it. If you’re stressed, it could be the reason why your period may come late. Best advice is to take the pregnancy test so you can figure it out.

I am here because I took the plan b pill and now I am almost 3 weeks late. I took 4 at home pregnancy tests (at two weeks late and a month after unprotected sex) and they all came out negative. I am so so stressed and worried. But this video made me feel a bit better. I understand that this may be a common thing after taking the pill. So thank you!!

What about breast tenderness 2 weeks later after taking the pill and lots of spotting?? I took a pregnancy test 12 days after the incident and it was negative but still have tenderness should I worry????

It’s been two months since I took the pill.. my periods are much heavier.. I’m having extremely bad bloating (my stomach is hard and it hurts to push in) I’m nauseous, my breasts were tender for a few days & im constantly cramping and having sharp pains and I’m sweating so much more than before... pls reply.. is this a side affect of the pill ?? If so when will it go away??

Hi there, I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing this. Since it’s been 2 months since the pill I don’t think this is a side effect. I think it’s best you are seen in person by your provider. Many other hormonal factors or dietary factors can cause your symptoms that need to be evaluated.

Hi Brittany, as discussed in the video it’s best to take a test two weeks after taking Plan B. Since Plan B can also cause a delayed period it’s best to take a test to confirm the pill worked. Plan B may be less effective in women over 198 lbs but it can still work.

Hi Ari, the only way to know it worked is taking a test two weeks later. Spotting does not indicate if it worked or not. And while weight can reduce it's effectiveness, it can still be effective.

Hi Faith, you may experience spotting within a few days of taking it, sometimes cramps as well. Each person responds differently. There is nothing wrong with not experiencing side effects.

@@keygafalasarwa9909 Hi Keyga, as discussed in the video, the pill alters your menstrual cycle which is why a delayed or missed period is common. Pregnancy is highly unlikely but taking a test 2-3 weeks later is the only way to be sure.

The irregularity and heaviness of the bleeding and the cramps that my sister experienced after taking plan b, makes me think that this medication is marketed as "oh it's just some spotting" but really it's actually very hard to tolerate and very very unpleasant and my sister said she would never take it again, so out of respect for her experience, I don't recommend it to anyone

I personally do appreciate hearing her experience because I personally am going through much heavier and longer bleeding then most people experience. I took it 4-5 days after my regular period and now it seems I am fully starting my period over again (4+ days of moderate/regular bleeding that I get with my period, it still hasn’t stopped)! It’s wild and I have been spiraling because there is hardly anything out there about unusual experiences like this….

I took a plan b and before the incident (i was protected many times before this as well) i was already a day late from my period and now i am six days late. I also have symptoms like bloating, stomach cramps and aches as well. Is the plan b causing my late menstrual cycle and symptoms ? My period just came on today, 32 days late. Took plan B on August 17th..a day before ovulation. Took two pregnancy test, both came out negative. Took a supplement, called maca root, for 3 days to balance my hormones on September 28th period came on October 1st. I had awful cramping, bloated, mood swings and headaches. I will never take plan b again!! Try maca root supplement to balance hormones and your period will come on.

I’ve been using calendar+pull out method for the last 4~5 months after having my nexplanon removed which I was on for 11yrs. I took plan b Monday evening within 72hrs of unprotected sex then had another failed pull out happen again on Thursday night should I have taken another pill? I’m not sure if I’m late as my last period was a little irregular.

Okay just to help other people out- It was probably my fertile window but I don't keep track of my period so I'm not sure. I took the unwanted 72 pill within 24 hours on 13th June. I didn't have any side effects until about a week later (20th June) I had some bleeding. It wasn't exactly spotting but it wasn't a normal period either. I was worried that it could be implantation bleeding but I read that implantation bleeding is usually lighter and not as common as people would think. I guess it was withdrawal bleeding from the pill. It lasted for about 4 days. My period was supposed to start on 28th June but it didn't come. In fact, I completely missed it. I took 3 tests. One on the fourth day of missing period and one a week after missing it. And another one a few days after that. All negative. I didn't have my period the whole month and I was worried sick. But today, on 28th July, I got my period. So basically I missed my period for a whole month and got it right on time the next month. Hope this helps

thank you for the video! but i had a quick question, i took my last plan b pill about a month ago? and usually my periods would come faster then they would and now my period isnt coming on the day it usually would after taking plan b ( after another day with intercourse with out taking plan b) it would usually come after taking plan b , and i’ve been having strong cramps? and now they sort of turned into mild cramps but i got a negative pregnancy test so im really confused.

it’s normal for periods to be off after plan b because it is such a strong dose of hormones so if your pregnancy test is negative then you are most likely not pregnant

this video was extremely comforting to hear. I took plan b literally a day after my period ended and that was October 19th (I started October 14th) and right now I am waiting for my period and I am a day late and I am overthinking it sooooo much. took a test and both came out negative. But I dont know why I am still SOOOOO worried. I usually have a very regular period so for me to have a late period is quite uncommon. I am waiting for my period to get here so I can go on birth control

@@MicheL-bs3bh Hi there! I’m glad you find the video comforting. 😊Everything you have experienced is extremely normal and with multiple negative tests you are definitely not pregnant. I know our minds can get the best of us. Also you don’t need to wait to get your period to start birth control. This is an old school way of doing it. As long as we are certain you aren’t pregnant you can start a birth control method whenever.

I took the pill and i was spotting for a few days, which scared me a lot. I also started to feel sick, had very bad headaches and i felt tired most of the time. It was very uncomfortable, because i felt anxious the whole time, I didn’t understand what was happening to me. I spotted again after a week which gave me anxiety thinking it was a symptom of pregnancy, but then my period came 4 days earlier, which is normal because i have irregular periods. The whole experience was awful, but I’m sure the anxiety made it worse.

Hi I took an Aftera pill same day I had sexual intercourse and it’s been almost two weeks since I took it and It’s 3 days before my period and I’m kind of bleeding like a dark dark red and getting minor cramps. Hi I just had a quick question. I’ve taken at least 4 or 5 plan b within a year . I’ve took 1 in one cycle and took 3 on a other cycle . I was just curious if it’s bad for my body . I never ended up pregnant though , but still get side effects . Like I use to never cramp up and now I cramp up constantly. I use to get my period for 7 days and now I get it for 3 days.

Hi Zoey, it’s not good to use Plan B frequently because it is not an effective form of birth control. It’s meant to be used more so in an emergency situation. Plan B changes your menstrual cycle delaying ovulation. The more you take it the more irregular your cycles can become making it very difficult to know when you are ovulating. This increases your pregnancy risk. It definitely messes with your hormones when you are taking it a lot so I don’t recommend it.

Hi! Thank you for this very informative video. It’s helped ease my mind but I still have a question. So I took a plan b on the 10th of may which was last Monday. My period was scheduled to come next week around the 28th but instead it came this Monday the 17th. It started off as brown spotting and then went onto the brighter red I usually see for my period. However for the first 2 days it was a good amount of blood I’d say and filled a panty liner but it never got heavy enough for a pad. Mostly just there when I wipe. My period has always been 3 days but right now it’s lighter and I notice it seems to be mixed with cervical fluid as well. Is this okay? And do you think it is most likely my period and is just lighter because of the plan b or could it be a rare case of implantation bleeding?

Hi Shiann, your welcome! As discussed in the video irregular bleeding is super common with Plan B. This could look like spotting, an early period, late period, lighter than usual or a bit heavier. All of this is very typical after taking Plan B. Because it alters the menstrual cycle there is no way to know for sure if the bleeding you experienced is your period. It's best to take a test 2-3 weeks later to be sure the pill worked.

Period went off on a Thursday. Had unprotected seggs on Sunday , took plan b the same day , period came back on Tuesday, at first thought it was spotting because it was light pink, but then on Wednesday it looked like a period and I’ve been bleeding since and it’s currently Friday . (Day 4) I’ll try to remember to come back and update. *update my period went off on Sunday Based off my personal experience I’ve taken the pill twice first time I don’t remember so it must have not affected me much but this second time I was very nauseated, stomach pain , not really cramps but like a dull constant ache, and extremely MOODY I was snapping on my boo and he just took it lol I had to apologize once I realized what was going on 😂 but in conclusion I won’t be taking the pill again, I don’t like how it made me feel. Hi Jazlyn, as discussed in the video, Plan B causes irregular bleeding which is a common side effect. Because it alters your menstrual cycle it will be hard to tell exactly when your true period returns but generally within 1-2 months your cycle returns to normal.

Hope it helps some one, I took the morning after pill two days after my periods was done and Seven days later I experienced break through bleeding. Right after I took the pill I had various symptoms which included back aches ,sever cramps(sharp pains, burning sensation) bloating, sore breasts and nipples,alot of dizziness, leg cramps,chills,pimples .I experienced these right up to my next period they didn't go away with in a few days like others expect(women's bodies react differently to the pill).during this time I was really stressed because I throught I was pregnant but thankfully my period has come today though I have delayed by two weeks. And one more thing, avoid Google cause its gona freak you out.

Hi Sav, as discussed in my video irregular bleeding is common with Plan B. The bleeding you experienced 3-4 days later was not your period but just a side effect of the pill. It's common to have a delayed or missed period. Your period should regulate within 1-2 months back to normal. Taking a test two weeks later from when you took Plan B is the only way to rule out pregnancy.

@@gabbybrown390 it was negative. There could have been a possibility of a pregnancy since I bled heavily and was in severe pain but I guess I’ll never know. When I went to another clinic they gave me an ultrasound and said my uterus was bigger than normal. Haven’t had any symptoms since.

I took plan b 3 days after my period and then I bled on my ovulation day, it was quite heavy bleeding and could fill a whole pad and it went for about 2 days and then very little dark brown for another 2 days, would this have been a period? if it was my cycle went for only 14 days so I am unsure if it was a period and if the pill worked.

Hi Brittany, as discussed in my video, it is super common to experience irregular bleeding after taking Plan B. Sometimes it is just spotting within a week, sometimes it is bleeding like a period. It is also common to not get your period when you normally expect to get it. This bleeding does not necessarily indicate pregnancy. The only way to rule out pregnancy is to take a test 2 weeks after you had taken Plan B. -Deanna :)

Hi ma'am thank you so much for this informative video. However I have a question, I ended my period 24th of December last year. On the same day, I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend on that day, meanwhile we practiced the withdrawal method but to be 100% sure to avoid an unwanted pregnancy I took a postpill immediately by 6 o'clock in evening, by midnight I started experiencing diarrhea. At that time I didn't know that it was one of the side effect of taking the pill. Six days later I started spotting till December 30th. My period time hasn't come yet, today my body temperature increased. In fact there's alot going on in my head rn I'm so scared and anxious that I might get pregnant. Hi Meagan, as discussed in the video taking a pregnancy test two weeks after taking the pill is the only way to be sure you are not pregnant. Sore breasts indicate a hormonal imbalance, possibly from the pill. Dietary factors also can cause hormonal imbalances.

Hi Mali, if ovulation already occurred and it has been beyond 24 hours since ovulation occurred then pregnancy is not possible since an egg can only survive for 24 hours. However it can be challenging to know exactly when ovulation occurred so it's still best for Plan B to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse if pregnancy is not in the plan right now.

Hello! I took the plan B pill about 2 days before my estimated ovulation day. i took it within like 30 min of the action. 2 weeks later i notice some spotting and than it got heavier like a period the next day. But it was gone on the third day. Now today i have spotting again and today was when my expected period was suppose to come at. because im experiencing spotting i was nervous and so i took 2 pregnancy test yesterday and it came back negative. i just want to make sure it was accurate or if it was too soon.

She started the 8th of September and her period ended the 14th of September. We did the deed the 16th, she starts ovulating the 22nd according to the app. She took a plan b the same day 7hrs after we did it. The next day(17th) her stomach hurted and the 18th she went to go pee and a yellow mucus came out. Sperm can live up to 5 days and until the 22nd it has been 6 days since we did the deed. Do you think plan b is doing its work? Or are we still good since Sperm can only live around 5 days and by the time she starts ovulation(22nd)it’s going to be 6 days.?

I took plan b a day after having unprotected sex, then fast forward to 11 days later( may 6th) I see light pink blood on my undies, mind you, my period was supposed to start may 9th. Hi there I have a question I recently took the plan b pill two days after around my ovulation week. And I took it the same night after the incident happen on March 11 I’ve notice after two days of taking the plan B pill I had a lot urination problem, nausea feeling, and I kept discharging a lot in that week after taking it. So I wanted to know was that normal. Then second week I’ve notice after taking it some of my period signs was showing such as mood swings, feeling bloated and very gassy plus acne was coming up. This is my first time and I took it last Dec 10, had some bleeding 7 days later - not sure if it was implantation or period but I think its just bleeding from the pill since I took a pregnancy test a week after that and came out negative. Was suppose to get my period on the 27th but didn’t come. It has been 3 weeks now and I still don’t have my period. Because of the stress, I’ve been taking weekly pregnancy tests which thankfully are all negative results. Is this really normal?

I’m in the same boat!! I’m stressing by constantly look at google and videos so now I’m thinking to change my diet and see what that does as well as vitamins too

They say nausea should stop after 24 hours but mine lasted for 3 weeks and it was mostly in the mornings so I was obviously terrified Luckily my period came just a few days late but it was a terrible month for me physically.

This was very helpful and the way you explained it should be in sex-ed in our public schools! Thank you. My question open for input, emergency contraception is not effective during/immediately after ovulation correct? But because ovulation is difficult to pinpoint it is better to take it anyways? Also is there a difference between Plan B and generic compared to the Ella pill? I am almost 30 with children and I had no idea about this info!

Hi Amber! Your welcome! Great questions. Yes technically emergency contraception is not effective during or immediately after ovulation however since this can be difficult to pinpoint the rule of thumb is to take emergency contraception ASAP after unprotected sex. Plan B is effective for up to 3 days and available over the counter, Ella is effective for up to 5 days and is prescription only.

i had unprotected sex but he pulled out but i took the plan b within the 72 hours, a week after taking the pill i experienced spotting but also bleeding and it kinda felt like my period, this lasted maybe the whole week? i haven’t experienced any symptoms whether it being pregnancy or the side effects of the pill, the only thing i do experience sometimes is cramping, i am now 6 days late to my period but i took a test after my period didnt come the week it was supposed to and it came back negative, could i be pregnant? its been 5 weeks and i feel like if i was pregnant i would be experiencing symptoms, im going to take another test just in case this week

Hi, ok so I know this a very late comment. But I took the pill like maybe 5hrs after intercourse... that next day I was experiencing some nausea! What exactly does that mean for me!? Do I just need to wait two weeks and take a test or!?...

Hi Samiah, nausea is common after taking Plan B because of the hormones within the pill. You did the right thing by taking it soon after and the next step is taking a test in 2 weeks. :)
